Hey I think the cost of the wood was around 100 €. The Mattress is a normal 2x1,4 m for beds. I bought the cheapest one I could find on amazon. To fit the mattress i had to cut the mattress in half (I had to sew up the open ends again) and cut some parts at the sides away.

I have Touran. I slept in It and it sucked. When its cold it's very cold and when your under sun it's suffocating!

@@endofdayzfitnessu.k2126 YES, of course - the huge win with the Sharan is head height - especially in hot weather. I'm sure that's why he put the vent catch on the tailgate, to allow air to move however better to put a curtain across the front seats and leave the front windows with a gap

Hey Thank you I used just normal 10 mm plywood and some wood slats, something like 20x40 mm. For the bridge, wich holds the front part, I used 60x60 mm.

If you have folded down the row of seats, the construction goes over the row of seats. However, I needed the space of the row of seats so I removed the three back seats. Only two people can sleep comfortably in the Touran. I built the construction in two parts so that theoretically the rear seat section could remain inside.

The driver's seat must be in the front position and the passenger seat can be folded down. I'm not sure what you mean.

With velcro strips, one part is glued to the doorframe and the other part is sewn to the curtains

During the night we leave the windows and tailgate a bit open. If it gets too cold, an additional blanket has always been enough. Once on a festival it was very cold, so I let the engine run for an hour. But wen it's not over 40°C or under zero degrees I always slept very well in my Touran :-).

@@MechanicalRhino very nice, thanks for your answer! I will have this as a winter project! How do you charge stuff, 12 volt outlet only but when the engine is off, do you have a solution on how to charge phones, computers, maybe fridge? :)

I used a 140cm x 200cm mattress. Which I cut into two parts. I had to cut out the wheel arches in the rear area.

Agree. Great idea and seems to be working but looks a bit too flimsy and made of too many parts. I'm planning to do this kind of bed in mine this year but from two pieces of ply and aluminium extrusions for legs. It will be much sturdier construction. Also, I'm planning to have just enough space for the seats underneath just in case I need to take passengers. The two pieces will fit in the boot on top of each other so the seats can be used. Otherwise, have fun and enjoy. 🙂
