One day I was checking out at goodwill & worker said “is this single stitch? How’d you find this?” I said “wym I know what to look for” he said “well we sift in the back and sell vintage online” I was APPALLED thrifting AINT far no more 😭
They've been selling online for a long time bro. They pull vintage tees now because it's what's trending and prices are up for vintage. But yes I feel your pain man and have seen many profitable items never make it out of the back and sent off to be sold online, it's all because of covid when thrifting and reselling blew up hard
Yeah goodwill is the worst they have two sites that they sell the high priced items in auction and buy it now since they have gathered data and know the price point of most items now.
Same goes for the bins as well as the racks. It’s called their E-Commerce team - employees with knowledge of valuable clothing, old or new, will go through the donations and pick out select items to be sold on their website before sent out to the sales floor. It’s a shame but we can’t be surprised. They do be missing the lowkey stuff tho
But they can't keep up with everything, they try but you can still get all kinds of great finds in the thrift stores. I know competing with the thrift is annoying, but that's all it really is, is just a minor annoyance. You've gotta understand, their employees are getting paid like 9 to 10 bucks an hour. They're not gonna put the effort into knowing what's selling like us. We have the potential to make way more off of the items there, just by doing the research and keeping up on what's selling and the profits we can make by reselling the items.
I'm gonna be honest the fact your in Cali and in a big city is probably the reason it's hard to find something. Allot of other people are doing the same thing you are and chances are slim unless your commited full time. I live in a not so big city in Arizona. And come up all the time.. and no not even close to Phoenix or any city in that area. I've tried thrifting in big cities and never get nothing smh. Keep looking tho bro I'm sure you will be blessed if you keep at it.
I am 53 and I NEVER subscribe to channels and I watch these kinds of videos all the time (love them). However, I think you have a great channel, love the way you list your items (very unique and colorful), you have a great personality, your videos are super creative and entertaining (you should be rapping). Anyone watching any of your videos would NEVER be bored, LOL. Sounds like you got your "stuff" together. Take care.
As someone who works in AMVets Thrifting, trust me when I say this, make a connection with someone who works at the thrift because we be selling various vintage clothing items. I came up on 3 coogi sweatshirts and some basketball jerseys.
