My wife would like me to turn her a full set of lace bobbins and this is my prototype. I used a small Spalted Grey Alder stick as my wood. It turned out very well. The spalting was actually a pleasant surprise and the reason I left the handle portion round. I didn't want to cut off the dark streaks that were there. In the future I will cut flat sides on the handle end to keep it from rolling while in use. This one is the same length as the ones I found online during my research but my wife would like them a little longer. She really likes this one though so we'll see where I take this in the future. The finish is just paste wax. Oil would likely transfer to the thread in use so I figured the wax was my best option.
