Wesley is one of the best (if not THE best) at showing how to overcome unique problems. Other makers edit all the problems out but Wesley’s videos encourage me more because he shows them and how to overcome them.

Hey.. Im a 20yr industrial electrician.. I started using PT's instead of wirenuts a long time ago. I might use wirenuts with tape for house wiring.. but when im building a new machine, tools, lights, signs. something that will move, vibrate, get installed somewhere inaccessible or difficult to reach I'll use PT's. its a copper ferrule that gets crimped around the connecting wires using a 4 sided pin crimper.. or you can solder them.. then just apply de-ox paste( just squirt some in the PT cap) then snap the PT cap down over the ferrule.. makes for a permanent connection thats easily un-done.. unlike other tyes of splices, you just cut right under the ferrule, this way you'll only loose 3/8" of each conductor. so leave plenty of slack for future use. I don't have a problem with wire nuts.. but wire nuts don't work well with stranded wire and unless you properly strip, twist together, and trim the connections before installing the wire nuts, moving and bending the conductors will cause the connection to come loose... loose but not disconnected.... so basically it'll be a choke point for current and will overheat then eventually fail.. or allow for oxidation, especially in corrosive environments.. a poor and/or corroded connection will give inconsistent and unpredictable results when troubleshooting troubleshooting. especially in wet, humid, dusty environments.. i realize that LED'S are DC and low impedence, low voltage, but lower voltages and DC are more vulnerable to failure compared to household voltages 120/240. household voltages are just inherently more dangerous and volitile upon failure. Ive seen a lot of crazy stuff happen due to wirenuts or other loose connections. from 500k volt to low voltage. I honestly love troubleshooting more than anything.. its always a fun time!

Was it just me or did anyone else wince when he started drilling and hacking into that perfect carbon fiber wing? The end result is a pretty amazing, lamp...

That is amazing looking. I think I would of liked it more if it was switched so it looked like it was coming through the ceiling, and only use the LED lights on it. I am not sure if they will be using it, but as a display piece it is awesome

I notice, when you apply LED strips, you tend to align the strips so the LEDs are adjacent, have you noticed any banding because of this? I haven't on your videos and they're probably just wide enough angle that there's a lot of overlap regardless, but theoretically offsetting the strips by a fraction of the distance between LEDs would result in more even fill, I'm just interested if it would matter enough to justify the effort.

Just saw it.... a bit late, I know. Fantastic job. I'm from the Netherlands and watched Indy car a lot a few years back (when Paul Tracy and Arie Luyendyk were still racing, so maybe a bit more than a few years). I loved it a lot, especially the ovals. We don't have that in Formula 1. I lost interest in both in favor of Moto GP, which is still more exiting than Indy and F1. But with Max Verstappen (Dutch) F1 has become interesting again. And of course, the Indy 500 was always and probably will always be a favorite. Now to the point I want to make: Indy is less technical than F1 and that's exactly what draws me to it. F1 is so high tech and so secretive, it's too much. I can't imagine an F1 team allowing a front wing to be dismantled on camera. Boy, you just might reveal an aerodynamic secret! Praise to Indy car and you for turning this item into something to admire. Stunning....

are you sure it's aluminium reinforced? Because aluminium and carbon fibre do not go well together. that combo leads to corrosion.

I should have just googled first. Carbon fires are conductive so you get galvanic corrosion.

Call any indycar team and ask to buy old parts. They sell all the stuff they don't give to sponsors.

Same with NASCAR. A friend has furnished his man cave with furniture cobbled together from parts bought from the shop of his favorite driver. Very reasonably priced too - I imagine the teams generate so much scrap during the season that they're happy to have someone cart it off.
