Very helpful, changing to a 12" but knowing the 14" option is awesome. Thanks. The part numbers is greatly appreciated.

You need to push the bar up when adjusting and tightening.

Just found you tonight. You are the first to explain something I have wanted to do in detailed yet simple instructions and with the part #’s too. I never used a chainsaw until I inherited my family’s Century farm of 300 wooded acres at age 40. I still have all my fingers 😁. Never had the time to think about carving until 4 years ago. I don’t know any wood carvers personally to help this old gal that wants to try carving on some logs I’ve set aside that a Dremel is too small for. I’ve learned 2 things from this one video. Never too old to learn.

I have 2 they are cheap and awesome for small carvings and detail. I made the mistake of running my .043 chain through oak and ripped all the teeth off 🤣

Any experience with 25F full house chain? I've already switched several of my saws to 25AP and was thinking of giving 25F a go.

Thanks Kyle. Giving part numbers do help when doing instructional videos. Great video. I would like to know where to get a 8” bar for the stihl as stihl only makes 12”. As small as they make. Any help appreciated.

Thanks Kyle, just the info I was looking for actually. I need to know if this chain is suitable for harder woods as this topic needs to be tested, it hasn't been thoroughly described, plus is there a more solid chain if needed ? Grateful for any feedback please.

Hey Ray once I finish the 4 part tutorial series I’m working on I will talk about carving different wood with this set up and maybe carve a couple different species

Why do you have the chain so loose I make mine a lot tighter should it be loose for carving?
@KyleHallwoodworker
@KyleHallwoodworker Год назад
I keep my chainsaw a little loose on a roll nose and a lot loose on a dime tip bar it’s less friction less wear on the bar

You’d solve a huge answer for me if you could let me know if any stihl, corded (electric, but not battery) saws will take that sized sprocket and a dime tipped bar. I cannot seem to get answers on it anywhere, including my local stihl dealer.

I really do not know . I’m sorry

If the saw has a 1/4 pitch sprocket you could possibly modify the bar if it dosent fit of the lug bolts. Just an idea

Hey Kyle I've been using the 12in. Stihi bar with the 1/4 pitch chain for about a year and I like it a lot . On my MS170 I get oil that comes out of the muffler I think it's because of running it at low rev's have you had that problem . I got a DeWalt battery saw for Christmas I was thinking about putting a carving bar on it I know Jordy did on his . Do you know where I could get a bar for it . Thanks Kyle .

I have not had one of mine do that yet . It could be from low rpm’s and getting a build up but I’m not sure
