Kudos to the editor who lined up Rachel sewing the button on with the lil pop in the music. Subtle attention to detail like that just makes me smile! Your whole team is dope and so talented.
We have got to give a huge shoutout to the photographer in this episode!! The photos. The editing. I mean, so stunning?!! Obviously also Rachael’s posing and modeling is top notch. Phew, so good.
I saw a video about the woman running just girly things. They started as a group and only she stayed and continued doing it because it brought so many people joy. Most of the posts came from things people commented/submitted. She came out as gay with a post. Something like "just girly things - getting a girlfriend". That story was so sweet & uplifting!!
DIY pants decoration tip: take a photo of you wearing the pants, straight on with straight legs, and doodle your design placement on the photo on your phone. I do this when I'm adding rips to jeans and I've never once regretted the final result!
The second outfit was beautiful and the image too. But it was not U.K “soft grunge” it was new age insta london prep. The lighting was too warm compared to the cold under saturated reference image
No one commenting on how the pictures of her with the dog are beautiful???! Literally could see those being on the cover of a really popular magazine like Vogue or something idk. They’re so dope. I love them
Rachael’s voice is just soooooo good for reducing anxiety. I started watching this video with a racing heart and now I’ll be able to sleep soundly. Thank you, and great video x
Rachael's sense of style is superior. I LOVE all the outfits - they are fun but but still very approachable. It inspires me to try things out of my comfort zone.
Loved the looks!! Numbers 2 & 3 were probably my favorites. The only one that didn’t totally land for me was the swag look- as a retired tumblr girl, it was a little too prep. Would love to see you revisit the look with perhaps more of Billie Eilish touch! Or a pair of the classic Kanye shutter shades lol. Keep up the great work and can’t wait to see what comes next ladies! ✌️
I also felt that it was not "swag" it was not even close to the reference images she presented. I did feel like the grunge or soft grunge look was not it either because of the blouse under the dress and the fact it was a "little black dress".
I'm tall too and thought the same thing but it only works if your butt is reasonably flat cause otherwise it fills out the pants and takes up the crotch area and WILL give you a major wedgie....so like... Try one pair before you go hard on men's pants haha
I have done this now that skinny’s are less in style. I always found jeans too short, and the thighs always really baggy. For this reason I preferred shorts and leggings because they fit better. I quite often find myself in the mens and little boys section/tops.
A general critique. NOT HATE. People like RU-vidr and basically elevated incomes and sense of fashion going to the thrift shop to buy bulks of good prices in the reason why the thrift shop prices are rising up. This leads to gentrification of thrift shops and the people who really need a winter coat or a prom dress (no matter or "ugly", or "outdated") suffer. The things she made in this video were very mediocre/ normal. She could buy those things, especially that corset. She didn't need to waste an entire dress along with all that lace, to make a very simple and plain corset. Same with the coat. If you don't need the shoulder pads, find a coat without shoulder pads. Also, she elevates the looks by simply being a beautiful thin white woman. That may be a critique of all Tumblr aesthetics... These clothe tips aren't inclusive. I would love to see the Sorry Girls actually worry about the sustainability of buying clothes at the thrift shop (why did she need 6 Levis) just for a one time DIY project and then do a makeover for a person with a different body type other than white and slim ❤️❤️❤️
definitely, 6 pairs is too much for a person who already has a lot of pants! it really looked like Rachel snatched all Levis in the store just because of the brand, that's not sustainable
I understand why the premise of the video is altering bought clothes not sewing from scratch as it feels more easy and relatable and that draws viewers. however, more sustainable idea is buying fabric and sewing it as 1) these alterations already required a sewing machine 2) it's unrealistic to find similar dress with an integrated corset 3) most people watch this for inspiration not instructions. I also agree that clothes in the aesthetic videos are often not something they normally wear, and there are people who are really wearing the aesthetic on the daily basis. would be lovely to make something for local volunteers who enjoy the style!
Please don't take offense, this is literally a compliment: but in 2:22 you look exactly what I would picture Peg from Lady and the Tramp looking like. The soft grunge yet elegant and charming vibe you exceed on those shots is amazing✨
I think the video was great and you made some cool fits! That said, I think that a lot of them rely on having a skinny/small size...I’d love to see doability on outfits, that look great on all sizes, and that doesnt require a single blazer to be the sum total of an outfits fabric
i literally yelled "omg slayyyyy" at my laptop as you revealed the photos with the dog. Literally incredible iconic mama slay the house down boots yes gawd.
Loved this video a lot.. All the outfits were amazing, I absolutely adore the pink sewing essentials box, cuz I really love having pink stuff 😅. Will definitely be trying to DIY the two piece suit with my dad's old work suits. Thank you for making this video it's very inspirational and love seeing bond between women and beautiful minds putting effort into making sorry girls.
Good video. Loved how it was 5 different outfits and looks and separate days. Gave enough time for each look. 👍🏼 I wanna go alter something now. Ok Rachel!
A fashion icon! I looooved the 'soft grunge' outfit - I wish I could look as good as you do! Also, great tip about sizing a blazer by the shoulders, the one I have is just a little big and it sags but now I know for next time!
@@Leslie-wb8cb they could definitely have plus sized guests though. The plus size thrifting experience is verrry different and a new voice would be appreciated
That was fun to watch. You mesh so well with Becky and Kelsey. I’ve been watching them for soooooooooo long. So it’s different but I thought it was a great video! I hope you do more of these. It’s so interesting to watch you turn thrifted clothes into whatever your looking for.
I think your 'swag' outfit is cute and an aesthetic but what you used as examples all just looked like frat bro plus name brands (and/or sport logos) to me. Unfortunately not a fan of the daisy pants, can't help but wonder how many times you're actually going to wear pants you made (&rushed) specifically for a tumblr-aesthetic video, esp being that loud and kind of messily done, and also re-thrifting them is kind of forfeit bc I can't see many people wanting to buy someone else's DIY pants (and most people who like that kind of thing would make it themselves)
Loved all of these. Number 2 was gorgeous but not grunge, more New York meets Rachel from Friends. And the swag one kinda missed. The whole point of swag is logos.
Always a nice surprise when I click on a video and it's Rachel hosting!! I didn't think I'd get on with her as I thought she would take away from Kelsey and Becky but she's actually a wonderful addition to the team and fits perfectly ☺️
I LOVE LOVE LOVE the jeans and my favourite brand is Levi's, I wish I could DIY my pair to look like that but I'm not as talented, also I think you should maybe put little yellow dots in the middle and that would make it look more Daisy-ee if that's a word 😅 Amazing video, looking forward for more
I’m not even done watching the video, but I can’t stop laughing at the convo in the car about dinner after “securing the bag”!! That whole bit was lovely! xoxo
Everything works on you Rachel. In my area there`s still not this culture of big malls with thrifting clothes including coupons. Most of us are still into lowcost clothes but new. I´m sure that not everyone would look so stylish even in brand new items. By the way, there was nothing wrong with your professional photos and accent colours.
Ooo it would be cool if Rachel had left the lil tail flap of the blazer skirt open and had enough lining fabric to make it into a kind of skorts instead. Cute and flirty either way!
The 2 faves of mine r the blazer outfit & the grunge look w/the green bucket hat. I might use your idea :) Iy was so fun! I definitely didn’t have tumbler but I could do something else to pick my outfits!
Hahaha-- I was just telling one of my younger coworkers about Skins and how it was the 'Euphoria' of my teen-hood 🤣 I wish I could've explained it as well as you did!
Quick sewing machine tip- those teeth on the feed dogs under the foot? They’re meant to grab pins and help pull the fabric through straight if you put the pins perpendicular to the seam line instead of parallel. Keep practicing! You’re doing great. It’ll get easier the more you practice.
Love the creative ideas! I’d love a tutorial on fitting a thrifted pair of too big Levi’s! Have you every taken them in and what’s the easiest way?? Thanks again for sharing your ideas!
At the ripe age of 30, skins was and still is one of thee best programmes ever made, it was so relatable and unrelatable all at the same time ..... skins Stan !!
When you're hoping to make a skirt out of something g of fixed length - get some extra wide elastic and use that as the top band. You can gain a couple if extra inches and don't lose as much in the hem either
Hint on the blazer thing- shoulder pads out BEFORE sewing the button. Not that it's that hard to move the button a second time, but the shape changed a lot after the pads were pulled out, and the way it hangs doesn't look the same as when you texted the button placement. Even though the shoulders look fine unpadded the bottom (of the top) looks kind of saggy
I'll admit during just girly things when you were trying to like rip and cut the lace off I was concerned that it would be a mess because you didn't have a seam ripper. When you knew how to thread a bobbin though I realized you're underselling yourself. When there are basic sewing skills like later on turning a blazer into an outfit and knowing how to hem things that's basic sewing. Better than my very basic sewing too
I LOVE the swag outfit. It looks so comfy and just like how I thought I dressed in highschool! That bustier though... WOWZA Girl, you got it, but be careful where you flaunt it! LOL
