Most wooden bowls are turned from cross-grain blanks. Occasionally turning end-grain is a better choice for aesthetic reasons. This video describes the method I use to turn an end-grain bowl from Eastern Aromatic Cedar. The Heart wood is a stunning Red and the contrast with the yellowish/white sap wood is exceptional. That, together with the naturally fluted perimeter, produces an unusual and very effective show piece.
