“We live in a culture grounded in competition, evaluation and a relentless pursuit of grabbing more resources - money, power, status and stuff! Our bodies aren’t naturally equipped to thrive in this kind of climate, and we often struggle with feeling truly safe and resourced enough; connected to ourselves and with each other; or we lack an authentic sense of really belonging here.
When we strip away most of what we see playing out within and around us, underneath it all, we all want and need the same thing - to feel “good enough” to be seen, included, valued, liked and even loved. In our lifelong quest to find this, we often get hurt, punished, told to be different, or act a certain, more “acceptable” way. We learn to blend in, cover up our authentic selves, detach from our feelings, or seek unhealthy solutions in an attempt to calm and soothe our unsettled, disconnected and overwhelmed bodies.
But it doesn’t have to be this way. Let’s come together, meet our bodies where they are, and explore how we can effectively navigate the challenges of this competitive, evaluative and unpredictably changing culture while nurturing our bodies with what we truly need to thrive - each other…. Let’s go!”
Michael Allison has partnered with Polyvagal Institute and Stephen W. Porges Ph.D. in providing education and coaching of Polyvagal Theory in a variety of industries (fitness, wellness, business, etc.), and is currently leading a Polyvagal-informed Certificate for Health, Wellness & Performance Coaches accredited by The National Board for Health & Wellness Coaches.
His unique application of Polyvagal Theory to performance - The Play Zone - provides a paradigm shifting methodology to optimize control of our performance through skillful and conscious control of our physiology, and is endorsed by Polyvagal Institute and Dr. Porges. He was a featured speaker at the Polyvagal Institute’s Annual Summit in October 2022 and will be presenting at the Innovative Education Summit at The Elms in Colwall, Uk & The Master Series at Oxford University, UK in fall of 2023.

The Felt Sense Polyvagal Approach to Trauma & Addiction Group is a place for you to explore with others, through a polyvagal lens, the experiences of trauma and addiction. We are focusing on understanding addiction through the lens of the nervous system, as an adaptive response to maladaptive environments. This group is growing in leaps and bounds indicating a hunger for change, for the kind of transformative change that polyvagal theory brings us. The group interacts online in the Polyvagal Institute Community on Mighty Network. Once every few weeks the group meets live on Zoom for an hour of exploration and discussion with a guest presenter.
