Turning my Makita Cordless Drill (6012HD) into an Eddie Van Halen Frankendrill! 

Very cool replica, I absolutely love that video. When I got older, my I remember my mother telling me when this video played on MTV for the first time when i was about 19 months old, , and almost everytime afterwards, I would come darting out of my playpen into the living room just to see what was playing, and I couldn't take my eyes off the screen. 🙂

Great project. The order of he paint really depends on which style you’re going for. Eddie started with black on the frankenstrat because it was a black guitar, the he did white then red. For the 5150, he did it this way, black lines last. Thanks for sharing.

I am looking at the same drill.I helped a buddy put an ignition in his 63 fairlane last week and he gave me his january 87 9 and a half volt 6012 with charger,perfect box,excellent shape. I didn't own one and he's moved up to new stuff. But the Van Halen video and your videos educated me. I'll work this bitch like a rented mule! At the same time,I won't tear it up. Just make it earn its keep.!

Van Halen definitely were a phenomenal band, the fine talent and musicianship, and the 80s and early 90s, the simple and fun times, and feeling of innocence, a time when MTV ruled the airwaves, is something of a bygone era. Now the older I get the more depressing 😐

I don't think he used a Phazer on that intro part. In recording, he actually used an acoustic guitar and a wah-wah when he needed one.
