Mike - Would it be possible to do a video on roughly what you make in a month of scrapping. My brother says its a waste of time, but its a fun hobby for me that makes good $ sometimes.
Every business takes time to build. Mike has been building his empire of dirt for 20 years. So he generally does pretty well most months. - just starting out, you will not enjoy such income. If you want to get into this, do it on the side until you get so busy you can't manage it as just side work anymore. - keep your day job until then.
When I started scrapping. I had a normal job and I did it after work. And on weekends, till it ended up making me more money than I was making at my job. And I just kept expanding and working hard and then 1 day I found out like Joe said in a comment below. I couldn't give all my attention to both, so I quit my normal job and went into scrap metal. Full force.. I make decent money and it's not a waste of time

How do people contact you for their scrap? I started a little scrap business for myself just to bring extra money in, but it seems to me like nobody really calls is there any tips on how to get peoples attention?
You have to offer them some value in it. Tell them you will go to the place. Isn't pick it up, so they don't have to haul it.. And also it depends on your area. If there's a scrapyard, really close, then they'll probably just dump it there. And there's less of a chance of you getting it.. But it doesn't hurt to ask the worst they could do is tell you to go f off
Remember, you could stockpile and save and bring it to another state to sell for more profit.. I was just talking to a guy that took everything. He's been saving in A U. Haul truck To jersey and made out amazing
Do you have a problem selling sealed units? None of my good yards want to buy them, and the shit yards only pay .12 to .15 a pound. The pool heater coils are always copper here in Los Angeles. I pick them up at least every other month.
No I have no problem selling them every yard. Takes them. It's just who pays you the most.. Yeah, and out here in Pennsylvania. There's not a lot of people with pool heaters. That's more of a luxury thing. The older ones were copper or the better grade ones... A lot of the cheaper. No name shit is all junk.
