Barbie's ancestor reborn in the flesh again😭 I love her! Seriously though, am I the only one that found it kinda sad how Barbie came to be and Lilli ended? I can't imagine how heartbreaking it would be to discover that your creation/brain child was stolen from you and used as a money grab. I understand if they were simply inspired by Lilli's design and used her as a means to make their own thing, but what makes it more sad to me is that Mattel didn't even try to make the base doll for Barbie look different from Lilli. All they really did was curl her ponytail, threw her in a fancy swimsuit, and renamed her. As elegant as both dolls were, I just can't help but find it sad and a little disgusting on Mattel's part.
It is actually sad how Barbie came to be. But on the brighter side Barbie catered to a wider audience and was manufactured and sold internationally. Most of us made amazing childhood memories with Barbie, not sure if it would’ve been the same with Lilli. Just that Mattel could’ve done better with acquiring the rights.
Well, Lilli was just another sexual desire from men, her whole life revolved around men and having sex with them, while Barbie was everything by herself and she never needed a man, actually it's really good that Barbie took over
@@emi283That's what Mattel made everyone believe. Bild Lilli actually is just an office worker, materialistic, and fashionable. She had Comic strips where she is highly sought after by suitors, she wanted to get married right iirc. She was a gag gift for adult collectors yes, but children came to love her and was even made into what Barbie initially copied, Selling a doll and selling fashion packs. Edit: Its not really fair to call her a sex worker, she was literally in the newspapers (comics), in such a time where dolls made like her and barbie were seen as vulgar, it wouldn't make sense to put her in the papers if she's framed as such. A comic of a sex worker being put in the newspapers which can be read by children doesn't make sense. (She's not.)
@@v.v7288 Calling her a sex worker would be like calling the characters from Sex in the City sex workers too. It's BS that most people use to cope for the fact that the original Barbie is a 1-1 ripoff.
She's so beautiful, you did an excellent job, she looks almost the exact same as the original Bild Lilly. It's so sad that Bild Lilly no longer exists, and Barbie took over. I would love to own an authentic original Bild Lilly doll some day. But she is so expensive and so hard to find.
They didn’t find out until 5 years later. Mattel took advantage of the fact that they didn’t speak English. So the Germans Bild Lilli creators had singed the English documents giving all the rights to Mattel and they could not make anymore Bild Llli.
@@marii_lilmonsta Actually, if you check more closely, you'll find that Mattel was taken to court eventually and ended up buying the company that made Bild Lilli. There's even a book released recently about the history of Barbie that includes documentation of this fact.
Beautiful vintage doll transformation. You are so good with makeup, hair styling and clothing. Those accessories are adorable too. You have Very impressive talents 🤩💜
@@fionifying wow that was a year ago? Isn’t it cool how videos can be watched months and even years later? I am fairly new on RU-vid but I am really enjoying the journey so far. There is so much inspiring content like yours to enjoy. 😃
Sorry for the late reply. I read that after Barbie the Bild people sold the molds to Hong Kong, thus the Hong Kong Lili. Mine is in pretty good shape, except that her hair is completely flat. I may try to redo it, but I’m gonna get some practice first. I did rewig one Barbie. 😊
Fiona- You are very talented. I enjoy watching your videos of your custom made dolls. Recently, I have seen the Nature Queen statue (doll) by Mark Ryden. It is not a doll on the market. I would love this doll, so I made my own using iron on patches on the animals on the dress using a Barbie Extra #11 doll (the one with the chartruese colored hair). Would you also consider making this doll and showing how to make the 3-D animals. I tried with plastic animals, but they were heavy and I could not get them to stick to the dress. That is when I gave up and went to iron on patches. Show me how you would do it, please. Thank you. Merry Christmas.
Lilli was already becoming popular amongst young girls in Germany. As a kid, we take our parents stuff and play with it when we aren’t suppose to so it become a thing for these girls to have them or want them. She would’ve become a bigger name and more girls would’ve had her but could they manufacture and push out these dolls the way they’d have to in order to be as big as she is? Maybe not. It was best to sign over the rights, now all the children of the world have heard of barbie and experienced this doll in some way.
Such a beautiful content here! Keep it up my friend! You're allowed to scream, you're allowed to cry, but don't give up! Keep going! You are great with what are you doing! It deserves all success around and I don't forget to give my full support for you! ❤😊🔔
What an incredible content literally iam drolling on the screen your video truely shows your hard work This are not only videos you put a lots of love and effort 💗 to make this wonderful content Wishing you a very happy and beautiful day may God bless you always and your family full support from me 🍓🍓🍓🍓🌸🌸🌸🌸
Looks awesome! Only differences I see are hair line - Bild Lilli - looks more like receding curvy hairline. And apoxi sculpt ooak maybe breasts enlargement or cleavage? Did you use yarn for hair wefts? Not sure - did Bild Lilli have mohair hair? Color matches original hair and she does look very much like the original. Perfect fabric. I have a vintage Miss Revlon and her dress has that same textured cotton and I thought looks like something we would use for a dish cloth.
You did an excellent job of creating the visual illusion of a Bild Lilly but I do wish you didn't use glue, especially on the hair. It would completely ruin the illusion for me as soon as the doll was taken from the shelf. I want more from my doll collection than only being able to look but not touch.
Of course you can touch the doll. Since you mentioned doll collection I hope you know that custom dolls a worth a lot of money and are not designed in a way that you restyle them and ruin the artists work. Just the way, if you bought a famous painting like Mona Lisa you wouldn’t repaint her face or hair.
@@fionifying Yes, I know about doll collecting, custom or otherwise. As a matter of fact, I still have my original #2 Barbie and about 60 more, all mod era or older. I'm not talking about "playing" with a doll although I do want to be able to pose her. I'm saying that for me, glued hair, like stiff joints, ruins the illusion. (The exception being a hand made wig when it's appropriate to the original doll.) In other words, if I considered buying a "recreation" of the Mona Lisa, I wouldn't want one that had been painted in acrylic. I respect and am willing to pay for, the time and talent it takes for a creator to root and style hair. I see it as the difference between craft and art. Just my preference. You do you and I'll do me.
@@whatanitemare Gluing the hair does not affect posability in any way. No matter how you try to explain it, this is just a HATE comment, take responsibility for what you’re trying to do.
