I use a custom molded plastic sheet basically about 1 inch thick (2 .05 thick industrial plastic with a metal press lining in the middle) it presses almost flush against the wheel and feathers back towards the wheel well and have basically carpet knives on the end , reaching under would cut an or slice a persons hand but also makes the back of the wheel not fully rounded so it’s hard to wedge any types of lifts . Unintentionally it’s like that because there’s a rash of tow companies in my town towing illegally by “mistake” and they let your car go because it it was a “mistake” but like 90 percent of these “mistakes” make your catalytic converters disappear on there lot and of Course they’re protected from that by state law . So basically a few companies are “Cat diping” here. I was able to use it , because the hoa tow guy definitely challenged me. Turns out they let me use it because it’s designed as a deterrent against catalytic converter theft but it makes the car extremely hard to tow but not impossible, almost nothing is impossible to tow and most cars are designed with some way to tow in mind because of emergency purposes. Notice all the cars started popping up with lil squares on the front 😂 if someone with a tow truck wants your car bad enough there going to get it. Even if you take all the wheels off 😂
I had to surrender a truck when I was in my early 20s because I screwed up and bit off more than I could chew in car payments. When the repo man showed up, I walked outside, waved at him and handed him the keys to it so he could do what he needed to do. Sucked to surrender it and get a bad mark on my credit but I just can't understand how some people can get so angry and stupid and violent and fight so hard to keep a vehicle when the repo man shows up when they know good and well they haven't made the payments. Don't get mad at the repo man, he's just doing his job!
I think 95% of the resentment towards the repo men is that it’s always unexpected. Obviously it has to be like that to keep people from hiding the car, but I know that’s what upset me was just waking up one day and the car is gone. And then even when you do decide to go try to get it they treat you like shit. That act as if you’re a garbage human being instead of someone who is just struggling financially. And then they want $2000 for a $200 tow and parking your car in a gravel lot. It really is a shady hustle
I literally missed 2 payments because I got laid off, I was working with the bank to finish paying off (a$35k car and I only owed balance of $13k) and i always paid on time. They just came and took my car. I’ll never forgive that bank and you couldn’t pay me to use them again. Yes, I was late, but I literally had just got laid off, and divorced. And my ex was giving me the run around about giving me my 1/2 of the divorce settlement, plus I had my 12 year old depending only on me. Repo men SUCK!!! And so does that bank
I was waiting for the guy to come out screaming. Maybe he was glad to get rid of it because it looked like it was in pretty bad shape. Good work getting it out there! 👍🏻
I just moved and didn’t update my address with bank or insurance until I got a different car😅 my job was different from when I originally signed the lease too. They would’ve never found it in my new apartments underground parking lot with a narrow af entrance and exit 😎😈
When I had to give up my car and told the bank I'm doing volunteering because Financials when the repo man came to get it I helped him by moving the car because where I live the parking lot is not bus and truck friendly. I got to talk to the driver and told him I just had to give up the car do to financial situation. He was a nice guy.
Appreciate the work you do. Without the option of repossession the public would have to pay cash, or have enough equity in something besides the desired vehicle, before purchasing a new or used car.
@@Towtruck_Dustin it be people who don't know the law that says this did you know that when u do a repo there's nothing in the U.C.C 11 that said the finance company had a right to take the vehicle and last but not least banks can't loan money it's unlawful think it's a joke read title 15 of the United States code Your welcome
@@originallonewolf6643 Perhaps you need to read it, because it doesn't say what you think it does. At least in regards to title 15, which is to prevent monopolies restricting interstate trade. No clue what your trying to refer to with U.C.C 11, but I am sure you don't know what your talking about there either.
The driver had *spent money on upgrades* like new aftermarket headlights, push bumper etc but neglected the main priority which is fully paying off the truck first or at least keeping up with the monthly payments. I bet there’s an aftermarket stereo system and other engine mods on that Nissan worth at least $2000. 😂
you have GOT to be kidding me bro. im from Houston and i used to do cable work and immediately recognized the intersection when you were pulling away!!! HOLY SHIT! dude im having a crazy moment right now no way
No, it doesn't. I paid off avehicle loan and Bank of America called in a repo on the van. I was in the bank trying to straighten out the error and they called the repo agent to tell him the van was in the bank parking lot, "Come and get it."
This scenario actually occurred sometime back and the police showed up at neighbors house down the street. After a thorough examination by the authorities the repo man was arrested and taken to jail. The place he ran was full of undocumented employees and he was not legally authorized to carry out such tows
This. I was thinking like--do they drive it up on them? Dead car? Do they push it? Not happening/really hard? Do they first use the tow truck to lift the front end and put the dollies underneath? Won't necessarily have access. Nope--build and lever up it turns out. makes perfect sense. :)
This had to have been a voluntary repo, no way in hell would I have strapped down and dollied up in the yard. That took waaaay too long and made way too much noise. Pick it up, pull it away from the home and then secure it.
@@danielgoodman3578I mean you don’t have to do the dolly, he could have easily just disengaged the car and put it in neutral or disconnect the wheels from the transmission
I did a voluntary repo on a vehicle because the dealer sold a me a death trap the repo came to get it and as soon as he drove off you could hear the crunch as the frame broke in two the dealer did a perfect at hiding the rot
You know it's weird because I see all these repos, Where the repo guys just pull up, Take your car and leave, and then you gotta pay probably to get your stuff out of the car. I had my car repossessed one time when I was younger and I actually ended up paying to get my car back and I paid that car off. I still had the embarrassment and all the extra funds that I had to pay because of the repossession. But what struck me as odd was that instead of just taking my car... they found me, And let me get my stuff out of my car, That I needed for work. My question is, why were they allowing me to go to get my stuff out of my car? When most of the time I see repossession people just try to go as quick as they can. They try to grab the car and go for obvious reasons. I appreciated it at the time but I just can't believe that. They gave me the opportunity to get my stuff out of the car. Because I could have possibly made things a lot more difficult for them. Obviously, I wasn't planning on making things difficult. Considering that I knew I was late on my payments and I expected them to come. Take my car at some point. That's the other thing that confuses me. Is these people have to be so far behind on their payments? That obviously they are parking their car in funky ways. For a reason, maybe they are expecting to have their car repossessed. So why are they always acting so surprised, When they see the repo guys out there taking their car.? Lol. I guess some of these people think that even though they signed an agreement and a contract that says they have to pay the loan. I guess they think that even though they have defaulted on that loan, that they should be able to keep the item anyway. EHHHHHHH!!!, WRONG!@!!
I used to work for a second chance finance company. It seems once they started wreaking the cars that the people financed is when they'd stop paying for them.
That seemed like it took way too long. Also the owners must have known what’s going on but also obviously knew it was up for repo so they just didn’t bother coming out.
It may not deter you or stop you from taking it, but it definitely caused you some sort of distress... as soon as you saw, his wheels were turned, you made that comment that it was gonna be difficult...lol
@@Towtruck_Dustin I’ve been binge watching your videos to get my muscle memory sharp and improve my skills, you’re by far one of the best Tow Man on RU-vid.. You deserves more subscribers!
Appreciate it. You stay safe out there as well. Repos and ppi aren’t my favorite things to do, I prefer running the flatbed, but I will occasionally go jump in a wheel lift when one is available.
And your Vehicles have Computers on board and are capable of Tracking the Vehicle. The beauty of Factory installed GPS systems. Tesla Vehicles are the Easiest to Track and Recover.
What would you have done if he would have put a chain around his rear axle on his other truck ann put that around the front axle of the truck you need to repo and put a padlock on it? Thanks for the videos
Hear me out. What if the car was reverse parked with the front wheels turned against the curb and behind it are tall bushes. Are they able to still be able to tow the car?
Yeah, but those were a LONG 7 minutes. A lot can happen to a RepoMan while he`s hooking-up, including a loosed Pit Bull that`s gonna 'torpedo you' as you`re working. The money`s good, until you`re laying on a gurney in the ER, or worse....
Nice Job. Hard To Believe They Couldn't Keep Up The Payments On That OLD Beat Up SUV. No Money Down & Very High Interest Rate And This Is What Happens.😮
Years ago a drunk driver T-boned us. We were all wearing seat belts and were ok. 1987 Mercury Cougar was totaled. I took my keys with me because it had other keys I needed on the ring. I guess the wheels were turned as well-I really didn't pay much attention. Days later we went to get our personal stuff out of the car and the driver chewed me out because he had to break out the dolly wheels. This was a freaking accident and was NOT done on purpose like your repo was.
Maybe I'm a hack, but if that's rwd and it's just locked to the side in the font. I'd have doglegged it and hooked it up on the street. I'm all for dollys, this is just my dumb 2 cents.
That pickup was so quick. Some repo men in other parts of the world have to manually attach a towbar and heavy chain . All the while keeping an eye out for the irate owner.
If you can’t make payment . Cause everyone says that. Which is funny cause technically we Americans don’t have to pay taxes if we don’t want too. (And without making this a long texts). The way to stop it- A fence. A locked gate. Legally, you can shot dead for trespassing. Dogs. With a Dogs May bite sign. A fence. A gate. Locked or not. He has to undo some sort of latch. No trespassing sign. Your gonna get mauled legally. Take the Back tires off.. and Put on Blocks. Your not towing it. Unless you somehow Damage the property to get to the back to tow it from. Where theirs no tires. So you are really left with nothing. Let’s see. It’s my property and paid for right? Except the stupid car. Well. I can technically throw tacks, Nails, and other shit like glass and debris. Technically I can… making it impossible for you to tow it without damaging it. And since your towing it…. Your damaging it. Not me. Let’s see… I can put in a garage. Fill it up with Shit, and now you’ll have to possess the house. I can keep going. Or just don’t buy a car that is over what your home is.
Is there no way to tow it safetly to a spot down the road or around the corner to strap it down? I know its dangerous but id be soo scared getting outta the tow truck in their yard you know their not gonna b in a pleasent mood and who knows what they could do to you
Normally that’s the plan, but in this case the wheels were cut in a way it would have went off in the ditch, risking damage to the vehicle, and a damage claim.
Is the camera on your forehead? Do you own the Company?? Btw, I woulda just clocked and maneuvered down street then safety chained, called in to local Pd then woulda drove to open secluded public place and THEN dollied and wheel strapped, saftey chained and Towmated popped unit. Unless it was a Voluntary that's a whole less cautionary procedure.
