These really need a 5th gear. I wonder if Quaife engineering could produce one at a reasonable price like they used to for Commandos and early Bonnevilles? I think there’s a market for them, because they’d make interstate cruising a lot easier
I've watched the video about 30 times, and I keep following it to a tee, and no matter what I do it is not spinning like nuetral and when I get the case together I cannot wind the kickstart like you do, it is immediately spinning the output shaft. WHAT GIVES?!?!? this is infuriating.
In the video you'll notice the output shaft is turning as I turn the kick shaft...this is normal The trans is put in neutral before setting the spring...the shaft is rotated counter clockwise until you feel/hear it snap into place
@@uralpilot3064 I’m replacing a failed kickstart mechanism - finally figured out I was missing the PUSH DOWN on the kicker shaft to load the spring like the video. Got that but now it makes a sound unless I pull the clutch lever in and looks like the new mechanism is contacting case. Is there a missing washer or something? It won’t let me add photos
@@nicholasedsell5566 There is a stack of shims on the outside of the case that go on the kick shaft Internally if you didn't see a shim or shims upon removal then the factory didn't install any Use a magnet to check if there was a shim on the old assembly Sometimes they're so thin you won't visually notice them
I would buy a five speed conversion for my 4 speed bike to have a lower cruising RPM and save wear and tear on the motor it would probably help with getting some better gas mileage as well if there is a cat for that I would be interested in finding who makes it and how much it cost and how much it would cost to put in the bike
I have changed my air cleaner for a K&N and the free flow exhaust. This change normally requires rejetting to enrich the mixture. I want to use the O2 sensor feedback to the ECU to enrich the mixture so I need to understand what the ECU is looking at to determine the injector duration timing which determines if it needs to enrich or lean out the mix
I run a K&N filter with a 2 into 1 high performance exhaust...depending on what version you're running...off road 1.01 or 1.02 there should be no need to mess with it....run it for at least 50 miles so the ECU can learn and adapt you may find you're good to go....I've never had to remap mine...if you have a 2014 thru 2016 model you can make up your own cable and run OBDwiz software and play with it....they changed the connector in 2017...I would drive it around first then go from there....
Hi, thanks for the info. I'm thinking of disconnecting the battery for a few days so it can drop the learning. This problem of the cleaner and exhaust is not a unique Ural problem. I've done the same to my Harleys. In fact on the one I've got a factory chip that helps to richen it when you do the exhaust and filter. For interest sake do you have the ECU pinout, I'm still trying to figure out which is O2+ and O2- Lastly the OBD port is only good for reading and setting the throttle balanc. I think you need dealer software for more functionality, my dealer tells me that it's very limited in what they can do, remap but they cannot customize a map. Thanks for taking the time to reply, I really enjoyed your videos. PS. A really very last question, what's the music playing in the background? I spent a hellavu lot of time scouring the internet to see if I could track it down but no luck
