It would be good if we could plug the throttle quadrant from the VelocityOne Flight into the joystick. That would make it a must buy

Thanks! You saved my evening. I got that joystick today, and I went annoyed when the update didn't work for my PC's software. Happily you told us that XBOX mode has to be activated for doing an update, regardless the PC platform. And that worked like a charm when the latest firmware was installed. This will be a new experience, since I have always used Thrustmaster HOTAS Warthog (which is awesome but has gotten a bit expensive). Later this evening the rudder pedals from Turtle Beach will arrive.

Thanks for another excellent video - I've been devouring your content recently! 👍🏻 I'm about a month into MSFS and whilst I'm enjoying the learning curve I seem to be constantly discovering more questions than answers. Your video prompted another question because it's got me thinking that I may have misunderstood some of the basics of setting up controls. When you mapped the throttle and mixture to the external camera view controls and received the as alert - assuming you're using the external camera to look around - wouldn't that adjust your prop and mixture at the same time? If so I'd assume there could be unintended consequences! 😂 Thanks in advance Mark! 😊👍🏻

Here’s my thoughts on the joystick Firstly I am an Xbox user and before anyone says get a gaming PC, I am trying to save up for my PPL My complaints: 1) The twist rudder because the range is a tiny bit too small 2) Personally I think the stiffness is almost perfect but if you fly fighter jets, the base will most likely lift off the table (thankfully I only fly GA) but you can mount it using the screws if you wish. - Someone suggested mounting a heavy plate onto the base 3) the screw to adjust the handrest can be a bit tooo tight considering you can only twist by hand and not a screwdriver 4) Bluetooth is unnecessary that money could have gone elsewhere or cut from the price tag But aside from that the stick feels premium, it has the right amount of buttons, I never realised how useful the trim wheel is until using it like it’s better then assigning buttons for elevator trim. The trim wheel can either be set to analogue (regular trim wheel) or digital (like B737 trim tabs) which is cool. Hall Effect sensors (contactless magnetic sensors) mean that you will probably never get stick drift like my deadzones are set to 0 and there’s no drift. I love the adjustability of the hand rest because I’ve got small hands so I can adjust it to easily reach all the hat switches. And the hand rest can also be swapped to the left hand- there’s a nice feature to compliment this which swaps over the inputs to opposite side when you switch hands. For example when I switch to left hand mode, the throttle input swaps from left side to right side and same for everything else meaning you don’t have to go into settings and reassign all your buttons The OLED screen which I thought would be gimmicky turns out to also be useful because I plug my headphones directly into the joystick so volume control can be done without having to press the Xbox guide button and interrupting the simulator. Aside from standard functions the screen can also show you the joystick position graph (Cartesian plane) and there’s a left handed mode which I already talked about. There’s also changing the led colours, input mode (linear, s shape) The LED lights can be turned off (which I do) but there’s only a limited amount of colours to choose sadly there wasn’t a red option so that’s why I keep it off There’s a trackpad but I don’t use it atm which you can adjust the sensitivity for on the OLED screen.

Great review and purchased of the back of it and very pleased with it, i have been using the TM Airbus stick but this is a better bit of kit imo the trim wheel works perfectly and is a very useful thing to have on the stick for Cessna etc. Xbox series X flyer.

I found the grip to be less than desirable when twisting for the rudder action. It is almost completely round so you have to grip it tight to keep it from twisting back as the spring is strong. The grip should be more oval or elongated for a more relaxed grip action. I like all the functions, buttons and sliders which give you many options for configuration. If you do not have this mounted, (Ido not) with forward and backward deflection of the stick it will tilt the whole controller as it is wider than it is front to back, so you have to keep constant pressure downward to keep it planted on your desk surface. Guess I'll have to find a mounting option as this will drive me crazy over time! I use my keyboard tray for its' base which is less than ideal. Nice review. Thank you.

Hi Mark, I have a struggling, mid spec PC and monitor but have lots of $$$ invested in yokes, pedals, panels etc. I decided to buy the X-Box series X, another monitor and this joystick. I have the two setups side by side so I can now fly helis and fighter jets etc and also enjoy the extra oomph the Xbox gives me whilst still having the PC yoke GA/Airliner setup. Enjoying this joystick !

The flight stick does not (currently) support the rudder pedals direct via diasy chaining (future firmware update required). The Rudders require the VI Flight Yoke & TQ on the Xbox, so in effect if you use the flight stick you can't use the rudder pedals! For PC you can connect them seperately to USB ports and they work independently.

I owned 3 Thrustmaster HOTAS's in the space of 2 years. The first failed in about 14 months, the second only last 2 months and the third lasted about 6 weeks. Great layout but there is something wrong with the wiring and I was reading posts that spanned many years of people complaining about that same problem. This Turtle Beach one looks nice. When my X52 HOTAS gives out, I may consider this one.

Very useful! Fwiw, at least on XBox Series X, as of January 2023, the default profile now has a tiny deadzone for the right analog thumbstick, very similar to the one you show adding here. I assume MS/Asobo added that in an update late last month?

I got this stick but what I liked about the hotas one was the ability to adjust the sensitivity. I hear a lot of people prefer the firmer feeling stick but to me it's better when it's loose, allows for better accuracy in my opinion, and it's just more comfortable over all. Here especially the center point is very stiff, like there's a magnet that pulls it to the center quickly once you get close. But I heard all the other options are firm too and I didnt want to get another Hotas One as the potentiometer based system wears down quickly. Maybe this will loosen over time but I don't know if there is a better option at this price. I'd rather not have a full on flight yoke sitting on my desk.

I love this purchased. I was going to get the honeycomb tango foxtrot. But due to no update I decided to get this flight stick. If they come out with a throttle control for it I think it will be even better.

May I ask a question totally unrelated to the review ? Every time I watch a review here I keep wondering... have you ever thought of fixing your channel's name ? Unless you mean that it is a channel that hangs around sims or something, then I interpreted wrong.

Mark, thanks for this great review. I got mine today and love it with MFS 2020. My only gripe is that the D-Pad is too sensible when used to navigate over XBOX menu. You press it in any direction and it travels too fast, like 2 or 3 steeps with a single press. Can’t find a way to fix this so for navigating over XBOX menu I have to get a XBOX controller. Would be great if Turtle Beach could fix this in a future firmware update.

Using mine with the Saitek/Logitech throttle quadrant and same quadrant X2 on multi engine aircraft. If they do come out with a throttle it depends on how reasonably priced it is, I may get one if not overpriced.

Hi Mark. I am at the early stages of learning to fly on xbox X. Using both honeycomb alpha and bravo and saitek pedals. My question to you is......could this stick be used in conjunction with Bravo and pedals to replicate a bush style set up? Would the stick work via the hub or EVEN BETTER would it work in conjunction with alpha, bravo and pedals when plugged directly in to the xbox? Great review I bought it primarily for the Xbox as I don't have the PC power to use it on my pc,I'm very disappointed in the centre cursor control pad?....tried it in diff sensitivities and it's still woeful?....I hope thers a way around this problem?..🤔

Love mine, use it for all the stick control planes, could you do a setup for helicopters please Mark?….need collective and throttle but having them assigned on sticks either side won’t really work 🤔

I'm suitably convinced, although further investment looms for T/Beach rudder pedals as the T/Flight pedals will become redundant and not compatible with TB flight stick in any way on Xbox. Hi thx 4 this review. In a few months I need to go 2 a business trip for 2 months, i was thinking on buying an Xbox s to be able to do some msfs in the evening. This stick seems like the perfect companion to accompany the Xbox on my business trip. Since I have not bought the x box yet do you have any idea if the Xbox s can handle msfs good enough?

I just got through watching your GotFriends helicopter review and now I want to try flying one - so is the TB the best way to go for this? Any other ideas (even anyone for jumping in here). Right now I have an older Thrustmaster with a throttle control on it so I could use that but I'm always after the easiest.

Great review! I am loving mine so far, the only wish I had is that the spring tension was adjustable, the tension is great on a desk, but it's too high when trying to hold the stick on the lap, guessing maybe someone braver than me will open it up and figure out how to mod that, great stick.

Super video as usual Mark. Received mine yesterday was on v1.07 updated to v1.1.6. Problems i am having is the miniscule touchpad is either too fast or moves the cursor at a snail pace- i then cannot select any menu after spending 5 minutes moving the cursor with the stick to the MSFS20 menu selection screen then trying to use the A button on the flightstick(will not access selected menu).I then have to use the Xbox controller which works easily to access/select the menus but defaults the controls back to the Xbox controller! But then i cannot use the flightstick again because i cant access the MSFS controls menu to change the default control back to the flightstick! Also in the MSFS 2020 controls section for the Velocity One there are 2 options when i right click one is default the other is Velocity One Flightstick- i assume the VelocityOne Flightstick setting is the standard settings for the stick) and the other (default)one is if you want to program in your own setup/different settings. Beginning to think mine is faulty with the inability to select and access menus in MSFS2020 using the VelocityOne flightstick only! I also have the Velocity One Flight System so not new to setting gear up,but this flightstick is driving me mad,have spent more time trying to access menus than flying with it!

I got mine today and you just made my day. One thing I miss is an on/off button. The lights is always on even when the stick is not in use. I have to pull out the usb cable. Otherwise the stick works fine.

Good review. At the price of this device, I would have expected at least one more hat switch and more buttons. What I do like is (I think) the ability to completely remove the hand/palm rest, which no other stick offers. Personally I hate these kind of rests. You don't get a "rest" on a proper joystick unless it is an airbus.

Hey mark, My Flight Simulator game doesn’t recognize my velocity one control stick and I’m curious if you have any ideas to fix this issue. Also I just stumbled upon your channel while trying to fix this issue and I got to say it’s super professional- feels like I’m watching a documentary, I love it.

Having owned this now for over a week, there a couple of negatives to it: - The spring tension on the stick is very high. This affects the movement of the stick AND the rotation (twist function) of it as well. It's difficult to accurately use the twist for rudder because of the high tension...it feels rough to do so, because again, of the high spring tension. - The two buttons and trigger at the top are very sensitive and twitchy. Just the slightest press on them will activate them. If you grip the top, you have a good chance of activating them by accident if your hand overlaps at all across the top. I have to set the wrist rest slightly lower than I would like so my hand is even with the top, to prevent this. - The pitch wheel also has a click function as well...unfortunately, the pitch wheel sits so low, that unless you click down, directly on it, you will also probably activate one or both of the buttons on either side of it. - The base has four pads on the bottom, only in the corners. If you move the stick side to side, that isn't a problem. But, if you push the stick forward or backward, to it's limit, the whole stick and base will pull up or down, off a desk. Sort of bewildering that they didn't include pads in the middle, top/bottom of the base to stop this...

What are your views on this device for fighter aircraft? What Hotas do you recommend? I enjoy your clarity and value your opinion very much. I use the Honeycomb yoke and throttle quadrant for GA and commercial. To date, I have not flown the F18, successfully. Any input will be appreciated. Keep up the outstanding work. Cheers, Julian

I bought one a couple months ago and even being rather stiff initially it eventually broke in to be more manageable. Only downside is it proved to be relatively fragile. I packed it in my suitcase wrapped in towels and hoodies for a work trip but the flap lever, screen and switches on the top no longer work. Just a heads up to anyone who likes to sim while traveling.

Does it work with warthunder and ace combat 7 and star wars squadrons or just Microsoft flight simulator and elite

Seems like a good stick. But let's see a review after a 3-6 months of daily use to see if it still works properly.

I have the Thrustmaster Warthog and pedals and haven't used them since I've gotten the Velocity One Flight Stick. I don't even use my keyboard since I can keybind quite a bit by using the trigger as an Alt key and the button (17) as a shift key to combine with the buttons. I still use my mouse to toggle switches, because I can't control the pointer on the mouse pad they have. I still use my Logitech G600 mouse to toggle switches and for other keybinds since it has 19 programmable buttons. I have cervical stenosis and this has kept my neck from aching so bad, because now I can lean back with the flight stick on a lap table with my mouse next to it and that's all I need.

Pretty happy with this stick so far! I’m having some issues on XBOX when controlling the external camera with hat 2: when I want to look up I have to press down but it only moves the camera when I press the axis until the end, the same doesn’t happen instead with the UP axis, which is very precise. In cabin camera works properly and on the sensitivity window all axis of the hatswitch work properly. Very strange. Any idea?

Hi I saw this here now, already asked on another video, so i have hotas one buying this velocity one doesnt compensate?

I currently use a T16000M which I upgraded with a Hall sensor in the Z twist axis. I am looking for a future stick and might upgrade. I was going to go with a VKB but do you think the Turtle Beach is a decent enough upgrade? I quite liked the £119 price tag. If I went with VKB, I'd likely go with premium parts.

I always use the joystick on my lap,this unit is too light for that as the spring tension is too heavy.I also have trouble remembering what all the buttons do.........................................

Bought it and used it for a week. Quite happy although 2 issues should be solved: 1. tension of Stick should be adjustable 2. This tiny touchpad is not controllable, on PC soso, a nightmare on Xbox S.

I just got mine and I’m very satisfied so far! For me the killer feature is the trim wheel, it adds a new layer of fidelity and convenience. The only small issue I’m having is a strange noise (like a “klang” of some spring inside) whenever I turn left the joystick on the x axis. I didn’t notice it immediately but it is quite annoying when you make small and precise movements. At the same time as the sound I feel a small vibration on the stick itself. Does your unit has this kind of issues? I’m considering to return it and have it changed. If some other owner read this comment could you please give your feedback about this issue?

I think we will have to be patient with Turtle Beach on this Flight Stick on XBOX. MSFS2020 is not all you would expect and I found myself using the Xbox controller to fix buggy buttons. This does not work on Space combat games yet on Xbox. Im happy to be proven wrong!

Does anybody know if this can be used to play Star Wars Squadrons and Bettlefront II for space ships battles?
