Our parents use to drop us off there for the afternoon back in the late 70s. That pool was basically a giant Petri dish of floating band-aids, frogs and lots of “warm spots”. ..if you know what I mean. Good memories though. The building used to be the concession, massive lineups of kids buying snacks. This was interesting to see, moved away decades ago, thanks for the upload.

Hey Duncan! Thanks for watching. Mark the owner was telling me about the "old days" back when it was quite a popular spot in the 70's and 80s. I think the pool/pond/fountain is a little less used and more band-aid free these days, however the frog contingent is still well represented everywhere on the property. 😄

@@Wayneontheroad I was back in Bdn in 2011 to help the flood relief efforts, I drove to Turtle Crossing to revisit my youth, but it was completely flooded. It used to be called Curran Park, but we called it Urine Park. If you go to the Brandon vicinity again and have a few days to spend, go north on highway 10 for an hour to Riding Mountain National Park. Lots of good camping and tons to see and do. Have fun and travels safe.

@@duncanmccockiner5001 Thanks for the heads up Duncan. I’ll make a note for next time I’m in the area. Mark bought the place in 2007 and has been slowly rebuilding since the 2011 flood. Seems like a pretty good guy and he too remembers the Curran Park days as well having grown up there too.

Wayne, It’s great to see you still out exploring our beautiful country! Your videos and photos are more and more amazing! It’s been a long time since we talked and I’m glad you’re staying true to your dream. I remember having some great long conversations with you when you first started planning this chapter of your life. Keep well my friend and hopefully we can meet up when you pass back through Calgary.🤗

Hey Kelly! Thank you for watching and the kind words. It’s had some challenges like any lifestyle but still trying to make it all work on my own terms. I’ll be back in Alberta in about 10 days but staying down near the #3 for a bit first. I’ll drop you a message when I’m closer to Calgary and maybe we can meet up.

And we would swim across to the golf course and hide and wait for really nice shots close to the hole, then we would run onto the green and steal the ball and run ha ha ha! Man would they get mad after such beautiful shots lol!!!

It used to be called Curran Park I believe. The bottom felt all fuzzy and you had to be careful not to swallow a grape sized tadpole with legs. I remember the last time we went there, I went with my friends, brothers Lorne, Donald, Chumly, and Rick. Lorne was a pale looking older kid with the dirtiest knee's ha ha ha!! But we used to dive off the cliffs along the Assiniboine River, and have clam fights. I almost lost an eye diving off and hitting a turtle. The 70's was the greatest.

You left out the part about how before this was a park, it was a cemetery for a nearby residential school and now the owners won't let those kids go home and people like you are camping on their graves.

Hello Sonya. I did not know about this aspect of the parks history. I simple stayed there and relayed the info provided by the campground. I did just google it and found some articles about it. I'm sad that this is part of this area's history, and Canadian history in general. Sending Love your way. W.
