He was able to kill these synthetic sealants so quickyl because he didnt let them cure for 24 hrs as the instructions say. If he waited a day, he could spray and wipe bug remover on them 10 times and they'll still bead water mostly good.

I'm a full time boat detailer so I've got a bit of experience apply waxes and compounds to clearcoat surfaces and I just want to say that spray waxes and spray ceramics don't work that well just given the nature of them. Its all big company advertising. There's nothing better than a liquid form applied with a polishing pad and rotary buffer. That heats up the substance and makes it stick to the clearcoat or gelcoat respectively and actually makes it seal. Hybrid solution's ceramic has great hydrophobic properties but still doesn't prevent against dirt, UV rays, grime and bugs. If you want a good ceramic coat or something that will give you a bang for your buck, liquid wax is the way to go. Take the extra time and use a buffer. Use a detergent to get all contamination off, then clay bar, then polish, then wax.

For years I've been questioning why so many detailers do torture tests like this. Granted, it's nice to see what "kills" these products, but let's be real here. Not many detailers are going to be intentionally putting these 'harsh' chemicals on their car (or someone else's) after they take so much time to wash it, clay it, prep it, and then apply their choice of product to protect it. Perhaps we need better tests like throwing mud on the surface, not washing the vehicle for a while, putting road salt on it, etc. These things would be a little bit more like reality instead of some of these chemicals. Just my two cents... Keep up the good work, and thanks for the videos.
@jdisdetermined
@jdisdetermined 3 года назад
Well, the chemical test just gives an idea of overall durability, especially for maintenance washes. I like chemical resistant products, even on top of coatings, like Seal & Shine or Fusso, for the winter season, to take the brunt of winter driving and heavier pre treats before washes. Things like that. Brian @ Apex Detail actually does his testing with a traffic film mixture, gasoline, break fluid, antifreeze, etc. all mixed together and sprayed on the test panel. Things like mud and organic material just isn't all that practical for a durability test video as it would take forever to degrade most of these products. But traffic film does knock them down. However I do get the point you're making. There is no replacement for time and mother nature. 👍👌✌
@mills271
@mills271 3 года назад
@@jdisdetermined I don't wanna argue because I see the validity of doing these tests, I just think that real world is more than throwing a bunch of chemicals to paint. Like I said, most of us aren't going to take the time wash, clay, polish, wax, coat, seal, etc. and then torture them by putting harsh chemicals on them to break them down.
@jdisdetermined
@jdisdetermined 3 года назад
@@mills271 I hear you. Not an argument, just a friendly discussion, that's the whole point of this stuff. 😁👍 I look at chemical testing as just a *very* sped up simulated ph scale attack that would otherwise happen over a long period of time being exposed to mother nature and the elements and repeated maintenance washes. Same principle, repeated agitation and substances of various ph levels sitting on the panel degrading the protection, just done at an extreme. So 60 seconds of a high or low ph chemical sitting there, is a substitute for 60+ days of tree sap, fallout, brake dust, etc. sitting there. A perfect test? Nope. Relevant? Debatable. But it's entertaining and interesting to see how they compare to one another if nothing else.
@mills271
@mills271 3 года назад
@@jdisdetermined I can definitely understand and agree with it as you've laid it out here! It does make sense. Granted, not every test is going to work in every condition. But it's nice to see how these products last. Thanks for your insight Keith.

@@mills271 yeah man, always love talking anything detailing! Especially when it's with intelligent critical thinking people like yourself. 😀 My big battle in my environment is hard water and water spots. Just brutal here. I wish more of these tests did more specific testing relative to that. Spray some hard water on test panels and let it air dry in a few spots for 24, 48, + hours and see how these products handle it with ease of removal and etching. Check out some forums if you haven't yet, lots of fun discussions and info. and long term test data there that doesn't always translate well to a video. With Turtle Wax's new Proline, they have come full circle in adopting the old mindset that we had in the days of Carnauba wax, that is, keep your cars "Surface Properties" looking like you just drove home in a newly waxed car but this time it has superior protection designed to keep the surface properties alive with easy maintenance virtually forever. TW did this by combining in a single bottle a base coat and topper, i.e. the maintenance that is so easy and simple that it just became part of drying your car. The new "1 and Done" sums up TW's new Pro line in a nutshell and how it is designed to change our mindset and reset our priorities in automotive detailing. We all put multi-year coatings on our cars that again was designed to eliminate maintenance to a great degree but guess what, we found out we still needed something to keep it looking like the day we picked up our thousand dollar coating. So we all started using toppers on top of toppers to keep the coatings looking new. And by design, the new TW Pro-Line products don't last as long as SNS if you only think singularity of purpose in the area of protection but with a maintenance schedule that's built into the Pro-Line, it will last virtually forever and provide fantastic gloss, smoothness, and shine we have been looking for from surface properties that are kept intact! Now that is a victory in my book because we used to get 16 oz of great protection alone in SNS at 65 cents per oz without the flexibility that PRO-Line has to be used as a base coat, topper, etc and we get 23 oz for $1.08 an oz with numerous other ingredients, it is well worth the cost.

Dude, no seriously. Keep going with the tape tests!!! This really helps those of use that do track days! Sometimes the wax/sealant is so good, the tape won’t stick and peel off our front bumpers after a couple laps! Please continue this test. The white marker is also a good test, since we sometimes use that for our race numbers on the side of the cars. PS, forgot to add. If you can compare those tests to the bare paint as well.

Interesting video. Just when I thought "Santa brought him a new blower, I don't have to listen to the old blower squeal!", along comes the Lithium bottle... For me, I clean the vehicle weekly with Opti Clean, which seems to leave some protection behind. Haven't had to apply CR2 for months now. Paste and liquid products are more work for me that don't yield anymore results. Agree with you on that.

Jimbo I miss your videos because they are always upbeat and fair. Turtle Wax 🐢 agrees with your comments about the longevity of their Flex Spray being greater than the Max Wax according to the email they sent me. Last week, with that guidance I used all three Pro products as they recommended. Once n Done, then Max Wax followed up with Flex Wax. They said the Max Wax has the Maximum shine of the two and the Flex brings the SNS aspect into the equation and protects it all by extending the protection. So, after a week of 28-50 degree weather with three days of rain, I washed my car today. I was ecstatic with how great looking the shine was and how smooth it felt. For me it just makes sense to "buy into" the TW and Meguairs regime of maintenance products. I love maintaining my cars and TW and Meguairs loves selling me the products on a regular basis; Win 👍 Win for all of us. I have switched from Meg's to TW for all the obvious reasons over the last 18 months and your shows helped me make my decisions. Thank you so much for all you do for your followers. Another Win 👍 win. Great show Jimbo.

"I could care less if I'm manly or not" (referring to the blueberry scent). Brilliant! I will remember that forever; I must use that quote myself. Great information sir; and I really like the way you narrate the whole thing. Thanks for not saying "microfiber" when talking about your towel. I get so tired of hearing that descriptive every time they talk about a towel (of course it's microfiber; that's what we detailers use). I'm not familiar with the marker you used in the test, or what they did or didn't do that caused them to fail. I saw the first left marks splitting or showing paint, whereas the second marks to the right of the others seemed to be solid. Maybe it's just me, but I didn't understand what the test was telling you; when you said they failed. Fantastic video; I've seen some parts twice. Outstanding! Well done.

You pondered the same question I had on these new TW Pro graphene lines. Do I need to liquid wax as base and then maintain with spray or can I just use the spray and it will be equally effective with shine and protection? No one has answered that... the safest answer was the traditional method, use liquid wax and the maintain with spray. I am glad to see an honest and unbiased opinion on the differences of the product! Nice job as always!

Although it is much slicker than the meguiar's, the TW tends to get slight flecks from the road in it, meaning after I drive the car, dirt/sand seems to embed itself into the coating, both cars I used iron remover, clay bar and meguiar's 205, before application. I think something other than a spray sealant like a liquid wax or paste sealant i.e Fusso Coat as a foundation protection pre-spray sealant definitely makes sense specially on daily drivers. I've been doing this for years on my own cars. They're a lot easier to clean and considerably less contamination gets through to the point that I no longer need to clay the car. Just polish every 18 months or so and reapply Fusso + BSD. BSD is used diluted as maintenance/sacrificial layer on a regular basis.

Like the video. My biggest issue now I have the complete Meguiars Ultimate line and the Turtle Hybrid Ceramic Acrylic Black polish and spray wax so now I'm thinking wow what next. Can't keep up I'm just a one man diy guy with one car. 😜🤣🇺🇸

I appreciate the video and liked that you incorporated the marker and tape test. Very real world, immediate feed back. You mention that you prefer the spray type wax. I wonder if the thinner spray waxes might adhere or get into small pores in the clear coat better, thus last longer. Don’t know, just a thought. On the other side of it, being thin and mostly clear, they don’t provide the feed back and thus for some like me with less knowledge of different car waxes, they don’t give the impression of being as good. I wished someone out there would break this down in plain simple terms. I could imagine on older cars, without a true clear coat, a paste or thick liquid being better, and on a newer car with thinner clear coats, spray being better. ? for you. I have got a new Tundra, with a red metallic type paint. Overall looks great, no major defects, though couple small swirls in one area. They only pop out when the sun hits just right. I don’t want to be very aggressive with it, just a real light hand polish is what I am thinking. What is about the gentlest polish you can think of that would be good for that? As far as wax, I have tried the TW seal and shine and the ceramic, not bad, just not much lasting gloss or so that is my impression. My main concern is something for UV, pollen dust and rain. I don’t mind applying it fairly often. You got any suggestions? I half way wished I had just run in the auto parts store and picked up whatever they had. Thinking I would look up polishes and waxes, it seems a new one is coming out every five minutes from some outfit or another and they don’t do a very good job of explaining why or what is different from the last product they made. Enjoyed the video.

Why would you not follow the directions and use the damp towel,I did from the very beginning and have had nothing but success with the Turtle Wax.

I bought the liquid and the flex wax so I’m gonna do the liquid and then maintain it with the flex wax. I’m interested in what blower that was..lol

What’s the most caustic cleaner you’ve used to strip waxes/sealants?

I believe it was acidic tire cleaner in his video which he said can damage paint on contact if not wiped off quickly, and seal and shine by turtle wax even survived that!!

I would think liquids would be more durable because they are not being sprayed which atomizes the product? I do like the speed of using sprays though.🤣

Great work Jimbo. Can you create a comparison and do the standard stress test with TW Ceramic Spray coating vs TW To the Max wax? Would love to see how they compare and put it in Seal and Shine which is also a great product.

Meguiar's Hybrid Ceramic Liquid Wax is only $16 for 16oz vs $33 for the Turtle Wax Hybrid Solutions Pro to The Max Wax. Better comparison would have been between the HS-TWM vs the Meguiar's M27 Hybrid Ceramic Sealant.

With liquid wax you dont have to contend with vapers and mist that you can potentially inhale. I dont want this new stuff in my lungs.

I still apply liquid wax to the GTR sometimes. For me it’s that therapy of being alone, chilling with a sugar free Redbull and some background music But from a production detail perspective products that I can spray, rinse and get out the door quicker the better

It's the same for me to go into my garage with a venom or bang energy drink put the door down, put on a dvd movie (background noise) and wax away which for me is relaxing and somehow therapeutic.

Happy new year jimbo.fun vid as always.your opininion carries more weight with viewers than you think.i think from a uninformed purchasers view point the term inserted in product labels" wax" could be confusing.coating/ sealant would be more acurate,theres no carnuba in any of that stuff.

I am pretty sure the turtle wax says 2 squirts per panel, you put 8-10 squirts i don't get how it is helpful if you don't follow the manufacturers suggestions.
