I live in Montgomery just a 40 min drive and never knew this Recording studio/Museum even existed. When i pulled up in front of the museum it was such an awesome feeling that The Commodores called this part of music history home. I never got to go in, but one day I will. The one thing that really surprises me AND ALOT of other people is there is no signage at all on the I-65 designating that Tuskegee was home to the Commodores and birthplace of Rosa Parks and The Tuskegee Airman. The one sign i do see is Molton Field. So many cars and buses and trucks drive past the Tuskegee exit never realizing that all this is even there. I t would be nice and tourism would be neverending if there was something off the Interstate or even Hwy 80 telling drivers about this Historic Town.

Thanks so much. I always wondered what that town was like. So much history, including George Washington Carver and Booker T. Washington.

Grew up here when the entire town square and adjacents were thriving businesses. It was beyond a wonderfully exciting place to grow up. We even had a movie theatre downtown. Tom Joyner worked at our radio station pumping out all the latest hits. Commodores were students on campus and sang at Logan Hall on many weekends. We had parades thru town with high school AND university bands. Our teams were the mighty mighty "Tigers". The drum major was awesome strutting in gold and maroon uniform on football nights at high school games. Johnny Ford had just become our mayor in 1968 and it's so surprising to see he's still running as his pic is seen on truck in the square. Haygood was also very popular as I think it was he who opened the all time famous "Chicken Coop" which also was right around the side of the big beauty shop on corner. Plate size burgers, huge fries and chicken, all seasoned to a perfection your mind can never forget. Tuskegee was an experience for those that lived there in the 60tys and 70tys. For us life was just beginning. That was a time!

Looking at pics again, I'm figuring this guy must be the son of the Haygood I'm recalling back in 60tys.

Yes... The Haygood in the pic is now the current mayor. His father is who you are referring to. Thomas Reid who was a state representative, owned Thomas Reid Chicken Coops, though. (Downtown and on campus near Lionel's grandma's house.) They are both closed now. I live here now, grew up here since 1974. Lots of changes need to take place.... Hopefully it'll happen.

@@Dreadhead_jefe We got them in Florida as well,my area west of Orlando is covered in them but after looking at the video again I think you’re correct,it does look different than the magnolia trees near me maybe cause the one in the video is bigger than the ones in my area which are younger smaller ones, also the leaves tend to have a sheen to them which you can’t see in the video but yeah you’re probably correct.
