Your explanation style is fabulous, you are making the process easy to follow for those of us with not much knowledge. It's refreshing to get a person who really knows what they are doing explain in understandable terms for absolute novices.
I down loaded your free Proteus plugin, but was going to write you an email as I realized all of the tones from the library were mostly directs, none listed cabs, but I guess if they used a mic for capture it would already have the cabinet tone. Maybe you can get some kind of format for people to determine which tones require an IR loader or weather it has been a Mic capture. Anyways you have answered my question about how to go about loading IR's, now I just need to figure out what the IR switch on your plugin does. Thank you for all your efforts, very exciting stuff.
The IR switch adds or removes a single default IR, but that’s just for convenience, I’d recommend using a dedicated IR plugin such as Pulse. For the models, unless there’s a microphone in the name it should be direct out, and most of them are labeled direct out. You’ll get the best sounding results if you can do a direct out capture and add a IR after the model, as there’s less complexity during the training process.
