I like the ability to save deck that I do not have cards for. This allows people to make whatever deck you want and you can buy the cards you want later.
I actually like the ability to add cards that I don't have, it allows me to have the deck ready for when I'm ready to start building it, it also helps that the slots are automatically filled after you obtain the card, whether you pulled or crafted them.
3:35 from a competitive players point of view adding cards you dont have helps a lot for knowing which cards you need to craft to make your deck so you dont waste any resources on things you dont need. Also lets you test your decks consistency with cards you dont own by using the draw 5 function.
So to explain the weird ability to save a deck with cards you don't have it's similar to MTG arena where you can do the same thing. Then you can go "ok to complete this deck I need to craft/get these cards"
I love that we can build and save our ideal decks while we working on crafting the cards. Pre make your deck with all pf the cards you want, even if you dont have them and tally up the N, R, SR, and UR cards you need to make your deck. DISMANTLE EVERYTHING YOU KNOW YOU'RE NOT GOING TO USE AND USE THOSE POINTS TO CRAFT THE CARDS YOU ACTUALLY WANT FOR YOUR DECK. Makes things much easier.
I prefer being able to add cards I don't have in my deck builder, it means I can test out how hands will work when I draw with them, set a goal for cards I do need, and overall I just like having the option.
It is important to note that the gold pass will refund it's entire gem cost ASSUMING you finish the pass, therefore, If you see yourself playing the game a ton and grinding out the whole pass, you should absolutely, unequivocally buy it. Otherwise, use your own discretion. Just my 2 cents
3:25 think of it as a grocery list feature for your goal deck. Youre able to create and save the deck even if you dont own the cards. Once you have enough crafting materials you can gradually craft all the cards until you can completely use your goal deck without the hassle of searching it again and again on the internet what and how many cards you need.

Just played online for the first time. I managed to win a whopping two out of six times! Not that the wins count; they were clearly using the dragon starter decks. But at least I remembered how absolutely terrible I am at card games!

I’m gonna be honest the fact you have to grind just to get more cards or in typical komoney fasion buy gems just to get cards is bs especially when it comes to modern yugioh since nine times out of ten if your starting out your gonna get stomped into the dirt.
Idk man look further into the rewards system. It will be a very grindy game sooner or later. And gems in general are expensive for what you receive back.
