In this video we will go over how to remove, clean, and reinstall your throttle body on any 95-98 chevy or GMC pickup and any 95-99 chevy tahoe, suburban, or gmc yukon with the GM 5.7L Vortec engine. Subscribe for more videos!
Great video. I cleaned the throttle body on my 99 Chevy Tahoe and OMG what a difference, truck is running like new. I uses to always have the check engine light on. I replaces the TPS SENSOR about 3 times and it still wouldn't go away, after cleaning the throttle body check engine light went away. Again great video. Thank you!
It's hard to find a quality video like this, thanks for putting in the time. My idle is rough when stopped in drive. Might give this a shot, after I replace my fuel filter. Thank you
I really appreciate the well made video! I was having a helluva time trying to figure out how to take the cruise control cable off. Now I got it. Thanks so much!!
Thank you so much for the video, totally worked! I own a 1997 K1500 that had a rough idle, smell of gas from exhaust, ran fine at highway speed or once warmed up, used your video, sure enough, horrible carbon buildup, worse than yours. Cleaned it up real good, runs like a champ!!
Thanks man I had that problem with my truck jus other day, last night I cleaned out the throttle, charged tha battery and it started right up...my check engine light and check gauges on tha dash board went off as well, ddnt have to go to tha shop or spend a dime, appreciate you... make more videos
great video! thanks for posting. vortec is a great engine system. 172000 on my 1997 tahoe. i bet this will increase my mileage. im getting 13 mpg right now supoosed to go up to 17.
Mahalo my braddah. Now I can do my 97. I know how to run heavy equipment but when it comes to maintenance I don't know shizz. Especially my vehicles. Aloha from the great state of Texas.
outstanding instruction. now I think I can do this to my 98 k1500. I wouldn't have attempted before watching this video. my idle is only a tad rough but was wondering why. now I know. Thanks!!
thank you so much for posting this! one of the best tutorials I've found online. I'll be attempting this this weekend(if my husband will let me lol). thumbs up and subbed!
I wanna thank you, I cleaned the TBI on a 88 Suburban on the engine. But taking it off to do it correctly and get the backside which I didn’t before. I have the rough idle at turn or and in gear. Tackle tomorrow.
I really appreciate your help. I've recently done what you said on my 97 suburban. and it works. now! what type of exhaust do u have on your truck? it really sounds Nice!!
Hey really nice video and great explanation. Just a couple of questions, 1st- what kind of aftermarket intake is that? (K&N) size? Also I noticed several other mods on your Tahoe. I have a 1997 LT four door 5.7 that I am fixing up. ITs got over 360k on the odometer, and needs a new gauge setup. Mine has the tendency to jump around. Maybe you could go over a few of these issues in a future Video for us guys who love the Tahoe's and big butt Chevy's..LOL Thank you, Mr. E. (?)
Having a hard time finding a guide for my 1990 C1500 w/ the 5.7 L V8 engine. Gas pedal is sticking and I assume it's the same issue shown in this video...? Could someone point me in the right direction for the '90 model year?
There's some orange residue from the gasket on the outer diameter of your throttle body inlet (on the TOP)... You did not discuss this gasket because it presumably didn't need to be changed. But what is that orange circular gasket called, and where can I buy it?? Mine is in very poor condition and I can't find it online so far. Thanks
Holy crap great vid, and you didn't even bother removing the butterfly restriction plate? what a waste bro. Oh i have the K&N intake aswell, but i removed the MAF screen and throttle plate restriction. well start this car up now... LOL LOL
I had a missing in 5.7 vortec engine, would go dead at red lights and stop signs, cleaned throttle body with carburetor cleaner and toothbrush.ris like a top now
Will this correct an issue with backfire/misfire? My truck at times, has this pop sound, with some smoke and rough idle. Once I give it some gas and let it clear up, it idles fine.
Been thinking about upgrading to a k&n intake on my 97 K1500. I've heard mostly good things, but the people that aren't satisfied go way out of their ways to complain, mostly about how it loosens up so quickly and needs readjustment constantly. Thoughts?
I HAVE A HESITATION WITH MY TRUCK, I PUT ON A NEW FUEL PUMP AND CHANGED THE THREE SENSORS ON THE THROTTLE BODY.... IT'S STILL HAS HESITATION ... WHAT DO YOU THINK I SHOULD DO, DIAGNOSTIC SHOP COULDN'T FIND THE PROBLEM
i did it to mine and it worked awesome... and my friend told me to do the same thing to his but why is his idle at 2,000 rpm? my was like at 800 working fine but he just puts it in Drive and goes up 🤔
So I’ve been chasing a super high idle. Around 1800 rpm. I’ve checked for leaks with propane, brake cleaner and soapy water. Nothing. Replaced iac. Nothing. Cleaned and inspected throttle body and surfaces. No change. Any advice?
Excuse me sir, Can I clean the throttle body without remove it from the engine ? by the way, I think you should remove the negative plug from battery before do this work. that will turn off the light of (Check Engine) / (Service Engine Soon) :)
97 chevrolet. po300 misfire ? 50-60 mph. misses pulling a trailer much worse..changed mass air flo, o2 sensors , ign.coil. dist with cap n rotor, plugs wires. plugs, fuel pump., filter, what to do?
Same problem 99 Tahoe 5.7L running fine, now bad misfire PO300 3 months after a full tuneup. Did full tuneup again. Plugs are fouled pretty badly. Tomorrow I get to spend $359 for an MFI Spider injector unit with a new fuel pressure regulator. I was just gonna do the regulator, but since I have to pull the intake manifold, and it being a bear of a job, I'm just replacing the whole unit, cleaning up the throttle body, K&N fuel filter, and cleaning my 3 month old EGR while I'm at it. Been getting lean codes PO171, PO174 for a while, and these injectors that came from the factory are crap. Just hit 195,000 on a 19 year old beast. If you can keep it running!
