For swingcopters, I strongly recommend adding something to make sure both balls dont go in the blue orb corridor, as it can lead to skips. Edit: Not thanking anyone for the likes, I just want to add context. In 2.1 people would create ball duals where one ball was stuck in a corridor with blue orbs and it made the other ball act like the swing.
People underestimate layouts, its really hard to make a good one. It can really carry levels with mid decoration. I do struggle when making layouts, thank you very much for this tutorial!
I see so many people that ONLY make gameplay lol The majority of creators I see are layout creators, so I'm not really sure what youre talking about tbh But I do agree, good gameplay could carry bad deco
yo guys I had the same issue but when registering for an account, make sure the password doesn’t have characters other than letters and numbers. Example: ! or # Hope this helps u bros
You forgot the most notable mistake that people always commit: Trying to make their levels like RobTop's. Main levels are supposed to introduce and showcase mechanics, but when making custom levels you should assume that the people who are gonna play them are already familiar with the game.
Before reading - building only demon layouts is not a good idea to start learning making good gameplay, instead, start making easy gameplay, and if you feel comfortable, move on to making harder stuff only if you feel doing that. Pretty good video for begginers. The thing that I would personally recommend is that to play most recent featured and epic rated levels to indicate what mechanics are common these days. Checking levels from top creator's leaderboard is also a very good idea as it shows a ton of creators that are very familiar with most of the things about simple and fun gameplay (as well as decorations). The last thing, but likely most important one is to see how gameplay in levels is made - check what speed the part has, what structures it uses, what gameplay it uses, etc... For that, I recommend checking less difficult levels (nothing above hard demon for the beginning), to see all mentioned above things. Addictional help would also be to check some uploaded layouts or videos on RU-vid, layouts that are not complex and uses small amount of movements. These are very inspiring and probably helped me the most.
Now overall, making good layouts is from experience, Testing out gameplay, Testing out effects, Asking yourself "Does this look good, is this sighreadable, is it synced, is it Fun, is it not bland, is it fit to the theme" if not. Fix it. Takes weeks, be patient. Thats it lol.
11:00 If you want to make a harder/more open swing copter, make a cube go into a one block gap and set a green orb to follow your X and Y position with a Move trigger (put the Green orb and the move trigger on the same Y axis). if you want to stop, use a Toggle trigger. this will delete the orb unless you use an activating Toggle trigger on the same group.
This video was made before 2.2 released, back then, that mode didn't exist as a seperate gamemode and creators had to use that dual ball trick to make swing parts.
Thanks for this! If at all possible, could you make something like this, but more focused on Insane and Extreme Demons? I’m working on an Extreme right now that’s largely timing-based, but I also want to incorporate all types of gameplay (except memory and 2-player). I’m not great at making Extreme Demon gameplay, so something like that would help tremendously. Thanks again!
also don’t over decorate your level because for people like me it reduces visibility (the most popular demon atm is barely playable because there are vines in the way of the navy seal camouflaged obstacles)
Fascinating, great advice, personally i build a level separately of gameplay (split up) e.g first part 5s then i deco that same 5s and move on to the next parts gameplay, so i don't make the full layout at once so this was helpful, thank you.
Nice video, it teaches well the new creators. And a Word from my point of the view. Dont make layouts for be hard or eazyer, do it for express your creativity and your skills

I can imagine an extreme demon but with fun song and really fun decoration and not look too intimidating but hard as f, tho like for me slow paced song with fast paced gameplay doesn't feel to work much imo
Yo Incidius, I’d love to see Part 2 of the Presidents Rank GD Main Levels. I’ve been waiting for the sequel for a long time since the first part was so damn funny! XD
Oh glad to hear you liked that vid! Unfortunately it didn’t perform very well compared to my other vids so I’m probably not going to make a part 2 sorry. My next meme video will probably be a gd meme awards 2023 :)
Well I do have 2 minigame tutorials (the ultimate minigame tutorial and the platformer tutorial). What mechanics would you like me to explain in another minigame tutorial? :)
this tutorial is very usefull since i already make epic layouts now i can make layouts epic which is very epic making a layout is epic because you are epic and making a layout is very epic and cool
aa great video i am currently working on a layout and this video will help with gameplay and such thank you! also what is that level in the background? 3:03
My gameplay for my lvl "ClubDeath" that's in progress the lights are off but they will flicker before gameplay so you have to remember what the gameplay is then do it completely blind.
One thing I must add: Don’t put indicators in the wrong spots on platforms. I can’t even begin to tell you how many times I’ve died because an indicator told me to jump late.
How did I not know about the start pos edit object feature 😭I used to always frantically place portals and speed portals on the start pos cos it would just default to a 1x speed cube
This is the best *building layouts tutorial* EVER Edit: too bad I can’t play the full version cuz it crashes but the day I posted this comment on October 30 2023 and on November 10th 2023 I can play the full version cuz that’s when 2.2 releases so yeah. :D
the thing i do is i cannot STAND making gameplay without making every click and beat sync, which ends up making me put a zillion clicks in two seconds at fast parts.
This Tutorial is Perfect to Me, I’m a New Creator & Player in Geometry Dash, You Help Me Only With a Video and For This, I follow you. Thanks Really Thanks❤🎉
Making a 4-5 star layout without speed changes rn, i can get the overall flow of gameplay and sync but deco will absolutelt kill the chances of getting rated.
whats the rainbow level SONG with the ball part 25% if u know what i mean (u play it everytime u say a tip) I Know the song of the level is walkman but i mean the song ur playing
the most fun part of making a level is the gameplay, the worst and most satisfying part of making a level is the decoration. I've made so many layouts and never decorate them because I hate the worst part of it 😅
