Matt does a great job working through these types of videos Pro Sound Effects..you should get him to layer a sci fi/action sound effects type scene next and really show off some more of the power and versatility of the Pro Sound Effects libraries!

I like the contrast of the selected sounds that you chose to bring the scene to life

Thanks for taking the time to do this video. This is a topic that doesn't get enough love despite how vastly important it is to film. Great sound and immersion draw your audience in more than anything else. Everyone has drones and 4k RAW now, if you want to stand out focus on your audio. A lot of great points, pay attention.

This is insanely helpful. Another amazing use of background sounds is Legends Arceus. It took me some getting used to, because they seamlessly incorporated pokemon cries instead of animal sounds. Has a whole new immersive feel, but feels like I'm always surrounded by pokemon.

I'm not sure if PSE follows this channel, but I'm curious if they're planning on developing their database search app, "SEARCH". I noticed it's *not* being used in this tutorial. Search is a wonderful tool, especially for a version-one app, and my current go-to. With a few small developments it would be all I really need. ...if no updates are in the works I'll likely move on to SM or BH, or go back to AudioFinder, which has a few features I sorely miss

Hey Dan, thanks for watching and for the note! Glad to hear you're enjoying Search - we have an announcement related to Search coming soon, so stay tuned for that. Matt is using SM in this video because that's his go-to, and we know all sound artists work differently. Cheers!

So helpful man! I loved the way you think all about the context before just going to search for the samples in library. It would definitely helped me in my first days as sound designer. I have just one question: in this particular case for this movie, all of that DX audio is from ADRs? What I mean is that how much of background sounds could we use from the record (of course, if it's not an ADR)? I always keep that on mind and I don't know yet if it's better cut the the lines when the actors are speaking and use samples of BG or if I mix both of them. Thank you for the great video, it inspired me and I definitely will check this Pro Sound Effects libraries! I'm a 5.1 sound mixer and I would love to make a tutorial too like this. I think it would be interesting for me, Pro Sound Effects, and of course, for the people who are trying to improve their skills in audio post. Thank you!

Thanks for the comment Rodrigo! As for your question - there is actually very little ADR in this short film. We were lucky that they got really great production sound there while shooting so it all cleaned up nicely. But as you can hear at the beginning of the clip before we cut any sounds in almost none of the background sound you hear is from the original recordings. We add all of those details in post to convince the audience that it was really there when filmed but of course it wasn't :)
