TUTORIAL: Introduction to VLC Player for PC 

Hi Chris, I'm an oldie, as in 79 years old and not to good with computers. I was hoping that you were going to explain how to use a DVD to watch a film using vcl. I've managed to install vcl but I can't figure out how to play the DVD film. I'd be most grateful for any help or advice you could give me. Kind regards Jack.

Hey Chris. Great video Say , i was wondering what aspect ratio i can use to eliminate black bars without image stretching . For example , i downloaded a 2,40:1 aspect ratio film . My laptop has the typical 1366×768 res. I tried 16:9 ratio, seems to fill up the screen, but it seems distorted?.

I can't get into the VLC forum site. Maybe you can help. I want to import a sound file from my Documents into VLC, but the only sites listed for MY Computer are My Videos, My Music, and my Pictures. How do I import sound files from my Documents folder?

After watching this I realize I know how to use most of the functions here. Does anyone know if you can stop the playback video from changing size? I load several movies I've download from different sites. They play back fine but sometimes they shrink and other times they expand. Very frustrating.

VCR->EasyCAP->iMac/VLC. VLC sees only iMac camera, not EasyCAP. I did this successfully 10 yrs ago but have upgraded a little. Is there a generic answer that applies to my components?

Here is what Im trying to do. We don't have internet at our congregation. So Im trying to live screen in house. I have going to take my HDMI output from the MacMini going to a Distribution Amp. I take a feed from the DA to a video encoder to put that on my router. I want to be able to give the attendee a static IP address they can take and use some sort of app on an iPhone or iPad to be able to see the slides there as well. What I am trying to figure out is what app we will use on our iPads, iPhones, and Androids to pickup this in house stream. Any ideas?

wtf is wrong with my vlc? it used to show all the videos or if i select music, it showed everything in the pc so i could make a playlist. now it makes me select 1 song or video by file name. im lost. ive tried to find something that will load all files. has vlc been changed or is windows 10 blocking vlc?

I have a Mac - Version 12.4 Monterey and I downloaded VLC with help from a creative fellow at Apple support and he converted an old video file for me. However, now I am on my own and I don't know how to convert an old file. Can you help me in layman's terms. i can get the file into the VLC drop file but i don't know how to convert it? added windows 10 32 and 2gb memory but vlc doesn't work right any hints?

I accidentally delete the Conversion profiles for mp3. I tried to create a new one but for some reason is not working. Can you tell me how to restore the defaults profiles. Tried to re install vlc but even that doesn't work. Thanks

I had VLC on the old tower died. I got a new tower and reinstalled VLC and it doesn't work like the other one did I want to download a video from YT I can't figure how.

VLC is a fantastic player especially for its zoom and slow motion; most other players only have one or the other feature. BUT when will it ever be able to play BD movies?

Chris, thank you for the video. I work in a school and I have a desktop for a child (young spec ed) that is not hooked up to the internet. Don't want it hooked up to the internet. I have a laptop at home for my use and a jump drive. A friend recommended me to download VLC. Can i download to the jumpdrive and then take it to school and put it on the desktop.

Pretty Good video on how to. One Basic thing you left completely out was how to play a CD from the C or D drive. I spent Quite some time trying figure out how to do this. Just clicking on Disc on the left side of the menu does NOT do this. I have to learn the Secret. Thanks.

10 or 20 files... that made me laugh, try 10 or 20,000 files in a directory is not uncommon. VLC will grab all playable media and pull videos from .zip .7z compressed files. Vlc will record your desktop, great for making youtube videos. Add subtitles Add watermark Convert file format. Playback ootions...3d, ascii, multiple monitors and more. Great program, still free. The VLC Media buffers a lot. I don't like it.

He doesn't start from rhe beginning. The basics How to import images from another device onto this. He assumes we already know. We don't! Why do they assume that? Frustrating and annoying.

Dear Chris - Just point with the mouse, no need to shake it around constantly. One gets the impression that the pointer is your anxious subliminal moving much faster than language. Since I tuned into a video tutorial this is very annoying. Please remove this video immediately and replace with an audio file..
