This is why I love youtube.... a years worth of trial and error and mindlessly clicking buttons on these programs in order to learn all this, was condensed beautifully into 20 minutes.... THANK YOU IAN!
This is one of the most clear, well explained tutorials I have ever found on YT. Thank you so much for the time you took to create this. I especially loved the footage you used for the BTS kind of shots. Not only was the information great but it was a treat for my eyes as well. Kudos to you!
As someone who is just starting to get into the timelapse game, this is one of the most concise and well constructed tutorials I have seen so far. You've managed to teach the fundamentals clearly while making the whole video clean and entertaining. You've done a great service to the timelapse community for putting this together. Your work is much appreciated!
My head is reeling a little at the volume of information it just took on board lol. But this tut is fantastic and I will be watching it a few more times no doubt. Thanks for uploading.
This is not a for Motion Timelapse of the Milky Way only... to me this is a full lesson for photographing!! Excellent explanation to all key matters areas of shooting.. I think finally I have full understanding on programming, shooting and processing! Thanks a lot for sharing this best Timelapse video!!
Great!!!! Finally I found a clear explanation about milkyway timelapse!! I've been searching for quite a long time.. epic works epic results!! Good job mate👍👍
So many other YTubers could take a lesson from you on creating a great "how-to" video. Really well thought out. Really nice presentation. Clear. Concise. Easy to follow. I am familiar with and have worked with most of these tools but NO ONE has created a tutorial like this. I feel I can go right out and create similar work without fear of screwing it up. Thanks!
I was on the fence about purchasing a slider for many months. I am a graphic designer and use photography & video to influence and enhance my designs. After watching your awesome tutorial I felt ready to take that leap and I ordered a slider yesterday! So thank you for your hard work into making lives like mine easier - it is truly appreciated.
I've been involved in creating time-lapse for around 2 years, and learning largely through trial and error, with quite a lot of error! This video contains so many absolute gems of valuable information. I'm so glad i found it. Thanks, so much for posting.
AWESOME tutorial and so grateful for all the info on your website. Just purchased the Rokinon 16mm for my crop-censor DSLR upon your recommendation on the website, and am thrilled with the results I got when I did a couple test shots with it of the Milky Way last night! Thank you so much!
Not only is this an excellent tutorial, it really shows off how skilled you are each step in the workflow...I don't see how it is possible to be more efficient than that...
This is the craziest, most complete and professional instructional video I have ever come across ... Major Kudos here !!! Narration was exceptional and the graphics made things clear and concise ... This is definitely your game Ian !!!
Honestly, one of the best tutorials I’ve ever watched. Covers everything clearly and concisely. Very well spoken. You just got yourself a new subscriber :)
Great tutorial Ian. Of all the things I'm most grateful for it's learning from you to turn of the noise reduction in-camera processing. I had it turned on and the processing internally took almost as long as the exposure setting. For some of my waterfall and running streams shots I had 8 min exposures that would take about another 8 mins again to process. Now it's just a few seconds. ... good to learn, thank you
I really hope you have the monetization switch flipped, and will make money from this. Because this is about to become a hit. Love this, obviously. This is the best tutorial for motion-controlled timelapse I've ever seen. I'd previously looked into Kessler for motion-control, and had never heard of Dynamic Perception. They owe you for this, because I'm probably going to end up buying some of their products based entirely on your video. Great work, man!
Thank you so much for this concise and easy to follow video. You managed to cover 5 or 6 distinct topics that most would take 6 different videos to illustrate. Great job!!!!
Wow... total noob here, stunned! Absolutely amazed by what you have shown is possible with this video .. I am looking forward to trying some of these techniques!
Dude you are remarkable the results you get are truly outstanding. I hope one day to be able to produce some similar work. You are a true credit to yourself and your generation. Well done and thank you for sharing you invaluable knowledge. Respect Hey Western Australia has some of the darkest sky's and most incredible landscapes on the planet if you need a guide..... You should visit sometime
This was tremendously useful and I learnt something I absolutely should already have known! (applying settings to all files in the set! How did I not already know, it's so obvious, too! You just helped me save rather a lot of time! Many thanks!)
The best Astro-Photography time lapse guide EVER! From start to finish. From setting up the camera to post production. I never thought that the time lapse videos are actually just a number of still images combined together. Well done Sir! You have earned another subscriber! Now, where is my Canon DSLR? lol
This is the tutorial I've been searching for. Great pace, clear instructions, and the right balance between assuming the viewer's base knowledge and filling in with the more mystifying bits. Truly stellar!
Awesome job :D Even one year later, it's probably the best astro-photography timelapse tutorial i have ever seen so far! Milion of thumb up for you! Have a great sunday
I simply loved the tutorial. Special mention to the calm and concised way of your narration is simply some of the best I've ever heard on all the online tutorials. Keep up the great work and thanks!
This is an incredibly detailed video for an amateur. I wish this was available when I was first learning! This one is old, with old gear, but highly relevant! I remember learning timelapse with protractors and calculus to make the right image. Good work my friend, although at this point I'm finding this late!
Hi Ian. I would just like to say your instructional and demo video on Time Lapse is awesome! Absolutely very informative, clear, understandable and to the point. Spectacular time lapse videos as examples! I can't think of anything else other than a great big, Awesome and thanks for sharing!
Wow! This tutorial is awesome. Thank you! One of the best made RU-vid videos I have seen in a while. Your description actually has time stamps and equipment links along with your website. Thank you so much!
So clear video. StrIght to the point. Very well done! Setting up the saturation to correct the wb was a nice trick! You can use shift when adding gradients and synchronize to sync the settings in lr
Ian Norman, I watched every single second of this video and just wanted to salute you for your time and efforts in making this very easy to follow tutorial. I currently use Premiere to render my timelapses but will give after effects a go!. The beginning portion of locating night skies, smart phone apps, moon phase and camera settings was very helpful thank you!!
Great video. Another very easy way to lock focus is before you leave for the shoot when you are still in daylight, use the AF and focus on the horizon, then put it into manual mode and apply the gaffer tape, then you are assured you are focused to the lens infinity when you arrive and begin the night shoot. Also get a head lamp that also has red light mode, that way you won't have to keep waiting for your eyes to readjust if using just a white light headlamp.
