Thanks so much! This is an important posture in many cultural traditions. I'm teaching it to a Muslim gentleman who needs to practice it during prayer. Gradual development is very important! 🙏
Missing Aikido as I am, after 10 months of social distancing and a closed dojo, I've found in your tutorials a practical way to feel connected with the art. Thank you, happy new year and the best wishes from Argentina.
Hi I found your channel from the video you did with Karate Dojo waKu. I know Aikido gets a bad reputation because people tend to think it's just the drills and it wouldn't work against a resisting opponent. I had never actually seen it used practically until you guys were sparing. I'd love to see some more real sparing videos. I'm fascinated by the practical application of Aikido.
To be fair, the large majority of Aikido is based on kata-geiko, and practicality is really not the primary objective. I personally train for other reasons so I will never claim any efficacy, in the street or elsewhere. That said, the training format can be a little narrow and I quite like to exchange with other arts (I prefer that term to that of sparring). Yusuke asked me to show him some Aiki concept within the context of his own shotokan sparring format, and that's what I tried to do. It is what it is, but at least, I think that the respect and good atmosphere are palpable. I'm surely glad that you enjoyed it. Thanks a lot!
Thank you sensei, for this. Been doing it but never knew the correct techniques and the reasons behind them. I know it’s mostly just preferences (schools prolly just teach this to higher ranks ) but would be nice if schools teach this too for newcomers/beginners. Basic things that make you ponder the wonder IMO. Great vid btw 👍
