9 years later and this is still helpful haha. I hand-knitted some hats like that a few years ago, but am going to give it a try with my Addi king, too. Thanks.

Loved this video - Glad you made it in to a tutorial :) The hat is absolutely adorable! I loved how you showed the way the addi dropped off all of those stitches so effortlessly at the end.

I have ordered myself an addi king size. So excited to begin using it!! Rewatching your vids on the addi so I will be ready to go when it gets here :) Thanks for all the great videos!!! I have just began filming myself and feel like I am super awkward in front of the camera. You come off so easy going in front of the camera and teaching. I appreciate you more than you know. That machine looks awesome! I have a set of, I think, 4, circular looms, bought with the intention of making loom hats. I keep looking at them wondering how to begin and then reach for my crochet hook. I should really give it a go. It may surprise me!

Dear Margaret,I had to comment again about this video - I made one of these hats over Christmas and I was thrilled for the little guy who gets to wear it :) We made it all in a soft 100% blue wool and made fun pom poms on the larger size, it did look "whimsical". The crochet around the edging was a little challenging for me, but your good close-up camera work and good explanations talked me through it. I think it turned out nicely for a first try :) By the time I got done I was having so much fun I went right on to your fingerless mitts. Happy New Year !

Yes. Add the flaps with knitting needles or crochet after you remove it from the machine.

Absolutely! Look at my blog (sheepishlysharing.com) and I've shown the measurements. Just crochet in the round to match those measurements, seam the top, add your embellishments and there you go!

Have you made some "Comfort Dills" on the large machine? Or do I need to buy the small machine to make these little dolls?

So Sorry, I should have checked my spelling. It should say Comfort Dolls. They are tiny dolls that fit in your pocket or the palm of your hand. If you Google comfort dolls and click on Images you will see all the different types.

Now I'm totally embarrassed! How could I not see that was a typo??? Hahaha! (I was thinking you were trying to make a copy of some brand name item I'd never heard of.) OK... the only time I tried to make a stuffie I found that the guage was just too loose to suit me. (I could see the stuffing inside.) Logic tells me to go up to a heavier yarn and yet that's a strain on the machine. HOWEVER, others seam to work this out! Are you a member of the Facebook group "Addi King Loomers and Knits?" That's where I've seen people make dolls, etc. And I searched "Addi Comfort Dolls" and found some great images on Pinterest so it's completely do-able! I should try again. My gut feeling is that you would have a much larger doll on the large Addi but you could try smaller flat panels and sew them together. www.pinterest.com/pin/287737863672339604/?lp=true

Thanks for that Margaret, I didn't even think of Facebook (I am on it, but have so little interest in it that my real friends complain they don't see me on it) I will look for the Addi page thanks. My biggest problem now I've got the machine is getting it to knit even 3 rows, it keeps coming undone so I'm back on youtube to watch the videos all over again to see what I'm doing wrong...Yes it's me not the machine, it's doing everything I've seen it do in the videos, so that means it's the operators fault! Thanks again.

I tried to loom knit this hat and it comes out big.. I need it for a 0-3 baby.. and. How did u do the color pattern? Which loom should i use? 36 or 40?

Chy cosmoqueen The yarn did all the color work (Deborah Norville... can't remember exactly what color but you'd need to use 2 strands together if you're using a Knifty Knitter or other large guage loom.) For a baby I'd use the 36. Actually, I have the original Knifty Knitter loom set and my next to smallest is 31 pegs and that's what I'd use.
