The only reason why it’s hard for me to see if it’s a original because when I found it at the antique shop I thought it was normal but then just now I realize it was painted over

I've been collecting since the 70's. This is a nice short video. Just be aware that there are alot of repro helmets comming out of eastern Europe that are spot on but fakes. Also alot of the German machines that made badges during the war were confiscated and sent to the east. There are alot of badges that were made on original machines but were made post war. Only buy from repuatable dealers. They are usually more expensive, but you know you are getting the real thing.

The liner and chin strap on your m42 are replaced and are repos

I have a m42 Wehrmacht helmet the inside I can’t see any numbers but I know for a fact it’s a original helmet a chinstrap only didn’t come with it can u help me out?

I have what looks to be a police helmet from WW2 Germany, I’ve had to do a lot of research on it, it has 5 small cluster holes almost either side of the middle, the leather looks and smells authentic and old with a name written on it in old German handwriting, I need to strip it and get the rust off because the guy before painted it with this horrid glossy black paint and painted an awful SS insignia on and in the complete wrong place, I sadly can’t see the factory code though, I’m hoping it was painted over when he tried to restore the helmet, once it’s stripped I will know if it’s repo or original

You should replace the liner its seems like ots rotting
