you are the only guy that explained it well. everybody else is using these microsoft paint drawing sor just talking. and I also needed to know how to handle grounding with use of a splitter, the other guys only ground 1 antenna wire but not splitter is involved! thanks

quick tip on making the ground wire straight. Cut the length you need then tie one end to something sturdy. take the free end and put it in the chuck of a hand held drill. pull tight then squeeze the trigger on the drill should straighten the line like a wire coat hanger.

Hello, I have a question. At 2:35 I noticed that your antenna feedline is grounded twice. I was wondering if the you feed that coax wire coming from outside straight into your splitter rather than into ground block first and then into the splitter. Would it be advisable, considering that splitter is grounded, as well? And if no, then why not? Thanks!

I don't trust the splitter to handle the intense static charge of a lightning strike. I prefer a good solid grounding block with a heavy ground wire. The splitter in the video is grounded as a second precaution, it is close to the block and really can't hurt. I don't recommend using only a splitter as a main feed and ground they really aren't very robust. Establish a sturdy ground then attach splitter, filters, amps or whatever you need in your system. Now in the case of a direct lightning strike to the antenna, the coax will get fried and the mast ground should carry the current to ground. Thanks for watching.
