The way the scumbag saw that the TV was not plugged in to the aerial socket - AND THEREFORE UNABLE TO RECEIVE A LIVE TV SIGNAL - and then calmly plugged it in and insisted the householder then turns on the TV hoping he would then receive a live signal was nothing short of entrapment. In Court, this video is powerful evidence that the TV could not receive a live signal UNTIL the BBC scumbag enabled it to do so.

Imagine a large supermarket chain were to send you threatening letters warning you that it is a crime to shoplift from them, and implying they could take you to court. If you don't respond to their letters, they then send people round your house to search your kitchen cupboards for items stolen from their stores, assuming everyone is shoplifting until they can prove otherwise. Just cos a TV is capable of receiving signal, does not mean you use it to do so. Most houses have external aerial with a cable in the house. This is not evidence that live signals are watched. Always film prices like them connecting wires n cables etc. It is not an offence to have an aerial and cable. As the owner stated, I can operate my TV power with remote other than TV remote. Again, not evidence live signals are watched. We all know they use false information to obtain warrants etc. His TV is not visible from street etc show can they obtain warrent without sufficient evidence that an offence is being committed and why do the police allow this?

You don't have to answer their questions, and you don't have to open the door to them. They won't get a warrant that allows them to break down your door. If you scrap the license, you'll be paying for it in tax money anyway. Better to find a better way to charge those who actually use it. If people don't want BBC services, there should be a way to block access and stop them paying for it

ITV is unwatchable trash. Channel 4 is the best solution, publicly owned like BBC but with adverts. The TV licence is really expensive for what you get, £12.56/month for a single network which has too low a budget to make shows which look good (see Dr Who) or give interesting prizes on quiz/game shows (e.g. £1000/episode top prize rolling over each show). Compare you what can you get for similar or less money from e.g. Netflix.

@nicklaytonUK 5 лет назад
@@KX36 I agree about Netflix, (don't forget their budget is getting bigger daily) but some of there stuff - considering the budget - is depressingly familiar - end of the World Sci-fi being one example. Neither is the comedy outstanding - yet. The fact that they may stop buying films, so we will even less choice is also a downer. I just think people don't know when there are onto a mostly good thing. I know it's not perfect, but people in the States would give their right arms for TV without ads. AD break - Credits - AD break - 10 minutes of a programme - AD break. I literally would be tearing my hair out. The BBC exists because we pay a TV licence, and while they cosy up to the government then it escapes criticism. They could definitely give better value, but what about all the goons who think it is somehow clever not to pay their licence? This guy is anything but a law abiding citizen. If he just removed the aerial I would have sympathy, but he didn't. Sorry, if you don't like it go and live in America. He and other of his ilk are making the BBC cut corners.

I am Ex-pat now living in Canada, but everyone knows in the UK that they need a license to watch TV. Just get one and avoid all of this rubbish as it not fair on the people that pay for it. And now it's so easy to pay for it to. I think they should do what they do here in Canada even through we don't a license here you can't hook your TV to watch any TV until you pay for your Cable/Satellite service. In the UK situation they should make sure you have your license before you can get any service at all. Of course not including DVD/or games console

If you were a police officer, would you care? They're only there to protect the peace, and this guy was clearly polite and fair. There are so many ways around it anyway. I generally don't answer the door to anyone unless I'm expecting them. I'd answer it for police as you should respect the law. The BBC are a company and should not be treated as the law. I'm tempted to agree though that effort needs to go into changing it, and I think it's about people changing their viewing habits. I just watch on demand services that aren't the BBC. So much more choice out there. I do think the manner in which this man handled himself was great though as the effort he was forcing on four people was huge to end up with no result.
