I am doing so currently, HOWEVER, I appreciate your reminding me to appreciate this thing because it's well worth such appreciation. I swear, I'm occasionally reminded why I love the internet and this talk/interview is definitely one of those moments!
I cried a couple times watching this, just seeing Martin go into detail about how these things exist inside of his mind. Going to Wakaan fest, listening to the music released on Wakaan, and going to Liquid Stranger shows, you get a taste of his intentions, but hearing him explain how it exists for him is special.
To anyone who likes these 2 and haven’t been to Wakaanfest I highly recommend to anyone that loves festivals to make it up to Mulberry Mountain! Incredible all around festival..Wish there were more like it to be honest
You might like Big Dub, I went last year and it's a cozy bass/wubz camping festival on a mountain in Pennsylvania, I'll get caught up writing a paragraphs but I had a dope time it was like a different world. Very friendly very safe vibes were perfect. I've had people tell me it's a lot like Wakaan but they don't get as many big name headliners. Recent years had like Mersiv, Bear Grylls, Ray Volpe
Martin, I am Robin, a mother of a 26 year old. I have seen you live with my child twice. Thanks for all of your hard work and helping a 53 year old woman for feeling vibrant! See you soon.
I love everything about this. I love Wakaan, I love Liquid Stranger, and I’m loving the growing love for TVBOO. You guys started my year off with the Balance Tour, and I saw each of you again at the end of the year for your own perspective tours. Epic podcast. :)
Man martin is such a cool dude. I have been a hip hop head for the past 20+ years and only listened to a bit of electronic music here and there and just found his music this summer and it' has opened up a whole other realm for me and I've discovered so many other producers and djs that I'm listening to more than rap now.
This honestly may be my favorite episode of any podcast ever just the conversation and actual gems yall dropped are amazing and I appreciate both of you for it💪❤️
The depth, texture and complete wackyness of your music, as a producer personally is awe inspiring. The tickle your work gives me deep in my soul is literally the only time I find myself laughing by myself. Truly giggling in awe and disbelief at what I'm hearing and how's it's done. Because liquid stranger my family thinks I take showers to laugh insanely to myself.
liquid stranger came to simons gainesville, florida with a literal wall of subs, most intense bass that building has seen, felt the organs in my body vibrating, much love for him and his production team❤
I think Wakaan is one of the best fests around. I've been both years and each time I went, I got a little wiser. I dont know if it's the people and the vibes, or just the meaning of the festival but I grew wiser each time.
Agree. I can’t really explain what it is that I learned and it sounds so simple but it really set it stone for me that the reason we are here is for feeling / connecting with others. Wakaan was the best weekend of my life and I really can’t wait to see what else I will experience there.
Liquid stranger was my first “rave”. Caught him on tour opening for excision and I love hearing him talk and be so open . Much love and respect to these 2!
I've never seen a full Tvlks with TVBOO podcast but Liquid Stranger you're one of my all times favs and this was well worth the 2 hours of my life. You've got inspirational character Martin. Both of y'all are awesome!
Just saw Martin on New Year's, it was my 3rd time seeing him & honestly his speeches before, after, or during his sets are so special. I'm surprised he said he wasn't always good at talking but it just further proves how hard he works. Really appreciate him sharing his methodology.
Man.. with all my experiences with Martins events and seeing how I taught myself majority of the words this man’s saying on this podcast.. life is bigger than the bad things that happen, we fail but we have to keep going, diligence and knowledge is key to getting what you want.. we are here to spread love and this community/scene is about keeping individuality and inclusivity.. I really really hope that one day, I get to make the music I wanna make and be able to share it with you guys. It’s all I’ve ever wanted since I was a kid. I wanna be a part of the force that helps remember this scenes roots. I wanna help spread love with sound.
Forgot to comment before but I absolutely loved this video. It was so cool to see who Martin is and his ideologies. I’m an even bigger fan now. Thanks for the video!
This is everything. To me this is the next step from seeing a Wakaan takeover for three days and listening to martin talk which I live for, it's nice to hear him speak freely on hear. I've been literally following tvboo since his first releases. What I'm truly liking is that good will prevail.
This episode is incredible, i havent even finished watching and ive felt it so much. I started raving when i was 14. It is VERY different. As he mentioned, it has become more mainstrean and in some cases lost the magic of the inclusivity that it originally had. But leading by example and showing ppl this is a community and family, not something to make someone feel pushed out because theyre different.
From a fan perspective - i appreciate Martins response about touring. I feel my town misses out on a lot of big acts bc we are a couple hours from LA. all the good shows come from tours! san diego gets slept on otherwise. i have been waiting for griz and excision to come but they get dragged into bigger fest or curated events, and can’t make it down to SD.
Martin, you are such a special person, I smiled this whole time. I attended Wakaan as my very first camping festival, and I just want to say you are doing the right things. I have been to bigger festivals and the vibe just wasn’t there, Wakaan felt like being at home. I will gladly go every year from now on, I’m currently checking every little bit on a ticket drop. I love how the lineup is, trying to run to different stages to see your favorites usually equates to missing one or the other unfortunately. My favorite part about it was one main stage. I can’t wait to see what the future holds, thank you for everything you do! I’m from a small town and I have got to see you at smaller venues close by like Asheville NC, so it is so heartwarming that you throw shows at these smaller places intentionally with us little rednecks in your heart. You are such a wholesome wonderful individual and it really shows, I can only hope to put a fraction of the happiness out into the world that you do. Much love to you Mitch as well, my husband and I are huge fans and love your energy. We’re so happy to watch you grow. 🥹 Thank you for putting the laughter and happiness in our lives that you do! Keep doing you one hundred percent! Sending so much love and happiness to you guys for the new year. ❤
Wakaanfest is my dream. The hard work and dedication Martin has put in created a beautiful world for so many of us and I will be forever grateful. 💚✌🏼💨
And btw ur music has been healing since day one to me. That weird n wonderful album compilation was the best thing that happened at that time. Now to see Wakaan as a feat, and amazing takeovers. I feel lucky and good to be born into the dj world thru the underground, listening to all these top artists now. Our rave world isn't about one self but everyone.
My dudes, the amount of truth and wisdom shared on this episode is insanely impressive and inspiring. I had goosebumps multiple times throughout the episode from what was being said resonating so hard. So happy to share this Earth with y’all at the same time 💚
You guys don’t just make silly music for teenagers. I’m 27, and just “discovered” EDM last year. It’s now my favorite music. Also, Songs Your Wife Leaves You To is an 11/10 album. Martin, thanks for all you do for music!
I feel same way about loosing ur best friend. I know who there talking of. That person was my idol...so ya it's not just weird for us but for the artists too.
Space jesus right? I chilled with him at bella terra one year and honestly i never could have imagined he did something like that. He seemed genuine and humble. I hate that yheti got heat for that whole thing too despite not being part of it. Yheti is necessary for our culture 100%
yo Liquid! Area 101 Gemini gathering 2010 my dude!!! They were not ready for that level of dubstep then, either was I so it's great to see Liquid Stranger with the branded festival bringing old friends together for the first time.
I haven't been to wakan fest but I did go to the drive in fest during COVID at montage mtn, so magical on the mtn under the moon, vibing w wakan fam, feeling so at home. Hope to make it to the fest soon! Mad love my fellow time travelers 🤙❤️👽
One of the gods of dubstep, im learning how to make dubstep ive got 3 tracks so far. I used to make rap music for 3 years but now trying out making dubstep
Martin saying it's about the hard work and development of skill for music, instead of raw talent is so fucking cool. A lot of music is stigmatized towards talent, if your not naturally good at it you won't make anything worth listening too. I love the music and getting into music for fun, like a hobby even can be mountain that is so hard to begin climbing. His message is pretty inspiring good episode
