TVS Motor Company has launched the country's first ethanol-powered bike TVS Apache RTR 200 FI E100. Its price is 1.2 lakh rupees. According to TVS Motor, this Apache will run entirely on ethanol. It will also reduce pollution as compared to petrol powered bikes. However, for now this Apache will be sold only in Karnataka, Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh.
TVS Apache RTR 200 Fi E100 has a digital instrument panel, in which information about bike speed, odometer, trip meter, lap timer and gear position etc. is available. Disc brakes have been given on both the front and rear of this bike. Single channel ABS is also given in this bike.
Ethanol is prepared from sugar fermentation process and is non-toxic. Ethanol, an alternative to petrol, is less polluting than petrol. Ethanol emits 35% less carbon than petrol. Also, it also reduces emissions of particulate matter, sulfur dioxide and nitrogen dioxide. For these reasons, ethanol is an environment-friendly alternative to petrol.
