Totally it was because of the company and their slave contract, they wished to still sing with Yunho and Changmin. And you can see that with their song 'W', which is their constellation (Cassiopeia) and represents 5 stars. Every wish of cassiopeia (fans) its seeing them together again. Like you said, the 5 of them together were gods and there's no one like them.

This legendary group is still a myth...Everything about them has its own meaning. For example, your bias Yoochun has his stage name Micky in TVXQ, which means "the secret weapon". He doesn't get the most lines, but every lines he sings is so damn emotional and unforgettable. Without him, the song will definitely lack something special. And then Jaejoong, his name actually means "to be in the middle". And yes, he always stand in the middle of the formation in TVXQ or JYJ. He usually sings the main melody in chorus/acapella while other members harmonize with him. Junsu has his stage name Xia/Xiah, which means "Asia". And he is surely one of the best technical vocalists in Asia and definitely the best in Kpop.

I knew TVXQ first before i found BTOB. For me this group's tragedy is the saddest thing that happened in kpop world. Back then it was veryvery hard to enter Japan's market but TVXQ is the first group along with other SM solo artist (Boa and Younha as i know)are the first to break in and make their name and korean known to japanese. They help future idol group in many things and yet they are denied of many other things because of how dirty SM makes them. I believe they are the best creation of SM, they have everything from visual to talent. They are tall, handsome, good at dancing and excellent in singing, harmonising with each other and perform it live. They also wrote some of the song but its sad that JYJ have been denied to sing it. their gifted rare voice are also hardly seen in kpop groups today. Not to mention these qualities voices are in one group. Because many companies want to recreate a group like TVXQ, that some of the things that makes plastic surgery booming with idols and lipsync is frequently used because of the high expectations from fans and the public. If im not mistaken Sungjae really love tvxq. I think most of the idol esp junior idol back then also really adore tvxq, like what nowadays we can found many 4th gen idols also are fans of btob kekekeke..

Your reations are always such a treat to watch! I absolutely love them. To answer your questions about the split. I believe that JYJ never wanted to split with the members but sm itself. The split was regarding atrociously long contracts (13 years!) and unfair pay distributions. JYJ actually won the first lawsuit which did not terminate their contracts but rather make it fairer. SM couldn't accept that and with the issue with avex (company that managed their japanese activites, whole bunch of more complicated details that I need to do more research on), I feel like in the end JYJ had no chose but to leave. Of course, we will never know the full story about what happened, but I really don't believe that it had anything to do personally with the members relationship but rather very complex politics happening in that company, on every level. (sm wanting to make an example of them?) It wouldn't surprise me if even the people closest to the split didn't understand fully what was going on. In the early days of the controversy I read articles that suggested that SM had banned Yunho and changmin from communicating with JYJ which is honestly so sad. I honestly believe even now that they are all on good terms or at the very least neutral. In a military event both Jaejoong and Yuhno were hosting and performing, both seen quite friendly and comfortable with each other and I believe even their familities were interacting as well. Junsu and Eunhyuk were well known besties and Eunhyuk has been known to attend Junsus musicals and show support. Heechul and Jaejoong are also besties and are still in contact, so all round, any tensions they did have are in the past.

Me again haha I had to make a separate comment about the songs. It's not an understatement to say I was tearing up through most of this haha W is widely regarded as a song and message to the members. The fandom name of tvxq is Cassiopeia, which is constellation made up of five main stars in the same of a w.....yeah it speaks for itself, i tear up every time I listen to it. Nine is a self composed by Jaejoong to commemorate at the time what was 9 years since they had been together since Yoochun had joined them. In heaven is a self composed/written/arranged song by Jaejoong as a tribute to a very close friend of his, an actor by the name of Park Yongha who sadly had taken his life in 2010 or 11. It was devastating to Jaejoong and so many people in the industry. The day before his passing he had called jaejoong for a drink but Jaejoong was in the US at the time recording for an album and had to pass the offer. I think the MV for this song really portrays that idea of getting a second chance, something that Jaejoong probably agonised over a lot. On his insta you can see how Jae still visits his grave. Fallen Leaves) This was Junsu’s composed and written song. The message of starting again is quite powerful. The ending of this song is telling as each member sings the line “우리 다시 시작” (We start again) one by one, signalling rebirth, the start of something new. The song itself is a love song, speaking of walking together on fallen leaves and starting over once the flowers have fallen. But there’s a sadness as the lover is in the past, speaking of “beautiful dreams” and the past frequently. This can also be seen as looking at a past that set them up for their present; looking at it fondly as something unforgettable, something of longing, but something that may come back full circle. Dad you there? Is a song written by Yoochun as tribute to his father who had passed away. I was echoing your sentiments when you said 'what a waste' because its so true. What a gem of pure talent!

I've been a Jaejoong stan for 15+ years and I don't think you know how excited I am that you are reacting to TVXQ/JYJ and loving it as much as you are.

Ugh I avoid listening to W for years because of what the song represents and how much it made us cry when this song came out and having heard them sing on that stage for the first time :'( but I'm grateful that now I am able to appreciate this song for the art that it is - the vocals, the raw emotion, the meaning of the song.. TVXQ5 official fandom is called Cassiopeia, which is a W shaped constellation. There are five stars in Cassiopeia, each star represents each one of TVXQ5 members. I like to think JYJ dedicated 'W' to TVXQ5 and Cassiopeia, their fans. When TVXQ5 split, so did the fans, some chose to side with Homin, some with JYJ, the rest of us still remain hopeful that perhaps we'll be able to see all of them on the same stage again. The good thing with them splitting is that JYJ is more free with expressing themselves through music.less restrained. It's beautiful yet heartbreaking knowing what happened on their journey to get where they are. Well that being said, Jaejoong has had his rockstar phase and it was glorious haha I love Butterfly, Mine, Just Another Girl- just to name a few lol his ballad songs too are *chefs kiss* 53:20 oh there's actually a show called mystery duet where celebrities sing a duet with famous singers without knowing who they are, and there's one episode with Junsu and honestly, you're not too far off haha

Yuchun is not only a good singer/rapper, but also a talented songwriter, a talented actor as well. His voice is very attractive, his smile is pretty. Thank you for loving him, loving JYJ/TVXQ.

Even as a Melody who follows TVXQ casually, I totally agree with your comment at the description! They are to 2nd gen what BTOB is to 3rd gen - both have made a huge impact where they are, both are irreplaceable. Recently I happened to stumble upon videos of TVXQ as OT5 in one of their Japan concerts and totally enjoyed their B-sides. Junsu is my fav member - I love his voice and personality. Your comment about him being an absolute showman is pretty spot-on....perhaps it's a combination of these factors that made him a successful musical actor too (Fun fact - both him and Eunkwang played Arthur on a stage adaptation of Excalibur last year 😄)

Thank you for continuing to explore TVXQ and JYJ! Changmin is my bias but I agree, I really love Yoochun's voice and I think he added a really unique colour to their sound. It's funny that you mention the youngest members of groups sometimes needing to grow into their voices, because while Changmin's certainly gotten even better with age I think it's Yunho who's improved the most. Changmin's actually been given the screaming-high-note killing part in their more hype songs since the very beginning, lol. Actually now that I think about it, they've always had a pretty even line distribution - more so than a lot of more recent groups, I think. I know you want to continue exploring OT5 (and I'm super looking forward to it!) but I hope you check out TVXQ as a duo, too. They've released a ton of great music.

Changmin and Yunho after the breakup, had to adjust vocally, people did not expect them to be as successful as JYJ.

In heaven for me is the most difficult song to sing bcoz of it's constant key change and harmonies. It was sang with just three voices but seems a thousand angles are singing it. Maybe if the internet and social media were already as widespread and powerful during the time that they were together, TVXQ5 or even JYJ would have been more popular globally. And JYJ would have overcome the media ban in SK. TVXQ was really great and i agree that no Kpop group can match them insofar as live singing and harmonization are concerned. Jaejoong alone can take on anyone with his beautiful voice. And yeah his visual is sometimes so distracting 😉. I'm also glad that you decided to check out their live performances instead of the MVs because the MVs simply don't give justice to their voice. When TVXQ5 disbanded I was really devastated but when it happened to JYJ, something in me died. Yoochun was my bias for over a decade and it was indeed such a waste of talent. W is such a beautiful song.. I love how they put "PRIDE" as a symbolic words for us, as PROUD is TVXQ's fan song for us, while W is JYJ's fan song.. no, they left due to the slavery contract (plus some other issues, but with the company, not the members).. till now, Jaejoong still loving the other two, n will occasionally talk about their time as 5.. juzz like us, he's also waiting for the day 5 of them can meet n happily goes public.. honestly I get each where 5 of them stands.. it's a shame, but without JYJ's lawsuit, idols these days will still have those slavery contract.. they're practically saving the industry.. due to their long lawsuit, 7 yearz is agreed as the maximum yearz contract term any company can go.. n of course, without TVXQ's firm decisions to stay, we won't have the name TVXQ anymore.. so I'm forever thankful for them.. yes, they're going to be the most powerful group as 5, but they also doing such an stunning job growing individually.. like u said, they're on par with each others, so not promoting as 5 won't be any issues gor each of them as they're all so talented.. back then, they weren't even trained as a group.. they're hand-picked last minute hastily (but of course the best ones) from each of their trainee groups to save the company..

He and other JYJ members were banned from kpop industry for 10 years, but he is a second-best selling kpop male artist out there (kpop + jpop sales). He also is (arguably) the richest kpop idol 🤩He is such an inspiring man who works very hard, as the same for all amazing TVXQ members. They truly deserved their hard work and success!

They were abused so they wanted to leave just to survive, which I think they totally had the right to do as humans. They filed a lawsuit against SM and won. The slave contracts were illegal. But they were blacklisted by SM so they never appeared on Korean TV again. However, they were able to release albums and hold concerts without promotions on TV. According to Junsu, they earned a hundred times more than before after they left. I think Yunho and Changmin wanted to leave too but were too scared to.

Nine was recorded outside in freezing weather, I don't think they were having an easy time of it. They are one of only a few acts to do concerts in Seoul Olympic Stadium (in 2010 and 2014) - absolutely huge shows - and Tokyo Dome. And you need to go to a Junsu solo concert someday. The man is just outstanding.

This is based on nothing but personal opinion and speculation from what I observed when I got into them, which like you was well after they split up, so based solely on videos and the impressions I had of them. And I've forgotten a lot over the years. The company mistreated them. Events were scheduled without rest periods or informing them. Contracts were extended without consent. And so on. Their was something weird that I can't quite remember about the company taking Jaejoong out of the group and putting him into another group a year or two after debut, which was upsetting for everybody. So eventually they'd just had enough. Jaejoong decided to leave and my impression was he didn't want to leave Yoochun behind, because he was really shy and wouldn't stick up for himself, and Junsu was also all for leaving. I remember thinking that Changmin probably stayed because his parents wouldn't let him make a risky move like that. And that Yunho probably stayed to take care of him so he wouldn't be on his own. This is all purely speculation, but that was my impression of how they ended up split. We never knew whether they still were friends after, because of SM's sway in the world, they were never allowed to have any interactions that could be public. We always hoped, but never knew. And so JYJ was formed, and eventually the JYJ act was implemented by the government where no company can extend contracts without consent and maximum contract length is 7 years. So it was awful for fans, but in the long run really helped the rights of the idols.

I know there is a lot of controversy about Yoochun in the past but he is better now and I am proud of him for being so strong to climb back up after falling. I have a soft spot for Yuchun since TVXQ days (Junsu is my favourite) because his voice is just so rich with emotions. Back in the time the controversy was around the slave terms contract and the money issue. I feel bad but after they parted ways I just followed JYJ ... probably because by that time Jaejoong was my bias.

There is something to be said about how these beautiful men kept up yhe quality of their work. It's so consistent, I'm not going to lie here and say I've not watched the tokyo dome concert (the secret code)(tvxq) to many times to count. Also watched alot of jyj stuff in resent times. The way they are live is mesmerizing. There is no other band I can think of that comes close to them. I'm obviously a fan so I might be a bit biased but the way they emote with the songs is just insane. I don't think the world really know what they are missing out on. It's sad that people don't get to see this group that is made out of pure talent and they all look good as well. As and end to this long rather pointless rant I'd like to give you some upbeat songs from both jyj and tvxq to try. I don't remember all you have heard so far so excuse me for saying them again. Might end up with more ballads as well 😂 Tvxq: summer dream, somebody to love, purple line, survivour (one of my personal favorites) share the world and stand up. Junsu was actually the member (from the five) with more members registered in his fancafe (star of asia), followed by yoochun, and then jaejoong. Junsu was the most popular out of the 5 and that's saying a lot since tvxq was the idol group with more official fans in Korea (and the world at the time, they had a world record lol). Còn giọng Changmin nói thật mình ko thích vì kiểu cao quá ... cảm giác hát nhạc ballad nó ko dính như 2 ông kia vs Yoonchun ấy ... bộ 3 ballad đỉnh cao của DB5K là JYJ . Còn changmin vs Yunho hợp nhạc dance kiểu cháy hơn là mấy bản tình ca mà mình thích sự nhẹ nhàng sâu lắng nên mình hay nghe JYJ hơn là HoMin ( đôi khi có nghe ) và DB5K nhạc Nhật cực quấn cũng như mấy bài tiếng Hàn ballad cũng rất cháy ... nhảy quẩy có Rising sun , OJHP, purple line , wrong number hay mirotc ... nói chung DB5K mãi đỉnh ( những vị thần phương đông dù thiếu 1 cũng là ko trọn vẹn .... với mình dbsk đã kết thúc từ đợt tách nhóm rồi😢 )
