I feel like Taffy has serious attachment issues and seperation anxiety to be honest

I keep coming back to this and thinking to write how I see this unhealthy, abusive relationship and how it formed. I even started a comment trying to deepdive into the way they're just.. feeding unhealthy mindsets off of eachother in a way. I'll try to keep it short. I feel like the orphanage is a bigger part then other people think, and how it shaped Taffy into who she is now. However Taffy ended up there must've lead her into some sort of trauma response from it; stemming from such a young age. Heath comes in, after or before her is unknown, but she clings to him due to the platonic love he gave to her; validation she seeked. Heath, on the other hand, ended up there too against all odds. He seems to long for a greater purpose; being an orphan I feel like he wanted to justify his wrong doings-- and any trauma that may have lead up to him being placed into the orphanage. He sensed for a longing of something greater, as I see it anyway. Insert this girl, i'm gonna call her Evelyn since I don't know her name. Taffy sees Evelyn and automatically gets defensive and doesn't like her; she's threatening her and heaths relationship. Heath, while being in a wrong point to ignore Taffy (as I see in this animatic) he sees evelyn as someone new-- and by general nature you'd want to know more about someone. He and Taffy knew almost everything there was to know about eachother; so I assume he just wanted that fresh breath of air. Heath clearly still cares for Taffy, showing by how he still draws her; if he didn't care why would he bother to take the time to draw her with them? Taffy clearly sees this and finds it bittersweet.. but all tolerance comes to an end eventually. I want to make it clear Taffy's supposed trauma is not an excuse for how she acts; it's a factor on why her brain has developed into this abusive state. She is still wrong, and her trauma is not an excuse- as how trauma will cause horrible people to do horrible things. It is to never be excuse or romanticized (which Synni isn't doing, btw) Taffy begins to stalk, obsess, and unhealthily romanticize Heath; due to her parent(s) dying, leaving, or other complications, be it if she remembers it or not-- has left her with some form of abandonment issues I presume. She doesn't want Heath to leave with Evelyn and forget about her, to not love just her. Also these behaviors SEEMED to have developed even before they were 16 or aged out of the system, as Evelyn finds a bloody suitcase, bag, or whatever under taffy's table or bed. What's in that case is as good as mine, but if Evelyn did open that case-- i'm sure it traumatized Evelyn greatly-- hense why she gets more scared and distant from them both due to Taffy. Even then, she wants to try to reconcile this relationship with Taffy; one she wasn't even at fault for really. Taffy obviously doesn't want to, and as they grow up Evelyn sticks around just for heath. But in the end, Taffy wins. Though the symbolism at 3:49 could indicate of the time Heath was taken and was absent, Evelyn wanting to reach out to Taffy to find Heath- maybe ask if shes seen him- something. But taffy gives no answers; only being around her maybe to feel some form of powertrip. Like "He's mine, you don't have him" Kind of deal. Heath obviously thought Taffy was his friend, never feeling persuaded from either of them. Evelyn not telling heath about the suitcase/bag because she's too scared to. Taffy knows this and keeps her as distant as she can. Eventually she finds out she can't keep them separated forever; and in act of obsession and desperation she drugs Heath and kidnaps him to have him all to herself. She thinks she won, he will never leave now, he can't leave. She will make sure of that. Heath is justified in screaming at her, heath just wanted a friend; she wanted a devoted partner. A best friend; she wanted him. And unfortunately instead of communicating her feelings healthily; she let them drive her into an insane obsession of not wanting him to leave; every waking hour was just about him and making sure he wont leave her. And in the end, she's going to make sure that no one else can have him. There's of course way more I could write, theres ALOT of symbolism in this animatic; and I could be completely wrong! Taffy could've had some form of malicious intent from the start-- which I don't believe. I believe this only manifested when Evelyn came into the picture. I really like reading into characters like this, and I hope to see more of the backstory of them, maybe how Heath is treated by Taffy with food; and if he has necessities. Or if he's allowed to draw (since he seems to enjoy it). Very interesting story, i'm glad to see you still working on projects and moving on from past issues; always enjoy to see your work :]

In any other context, Taffy keeping Heath's shirt all those years would be kinda cute But here, its genuinely freaky and emphasises how sadistic and,clingy she is

I absolutely love how this explains the story- Most Evelyn Evelyn animatics usually follow the same plot, but not only is this different, but SUPER interesting- it turned out amazing!

i love taffy so much. i dont support the things she has done but i love her in a way that her responses and the way she takes someone close to her being "taken away" by someone else is very relatable and similar to a past situation i went through. i really hope to see more of these characters!! also to anyone who says this is romanticising abuse,, its literally not. you're allowed to make ocs who have stories like this lol. not everything is happiness and rainbows

I love the scenes where taffy's face becomes a darker color and there is a white highlight in her eyes, looks awesome

I think the reason why Taffy has such an attachment with Heath was maybe due to something traumatic that happened to her that caused her to want to be extremely close to the person she loves the most. maybe something before she arrived at the orphanage.

i really understand that taffy would get jealous over this, she had spent her entire life with heath and she felt hurt and threatened when someone else got in the way of their relationship, its probably what drove her mad, all she wanted was him to be by her side forever, doesnt matter if it was romantic or not, she felt hurt by this, and everytime i hear this song something emotional just clicks in me and makes me wanna cry, the story mixed with the song just makes me so sad but in a good way, the story is well made, and i may have gotten some things wrong, but i still really like it, amazing work, im gonna distract myself with some commentaries before i cry heuhgjg lmao

Honestly, this is really inspiring. I really love the messy linework that is portrayed, as well as the messy colours that fill the characters. It puts emphasis on the characters whom are important, obviously, but it also gives the whole animatic the feeling of being broken up by the characters actions. The art fits the tone of the story being shown to me and that is really inspiring. It goes to show that you don't need perfect lines and colouring in animatics to get a mood across or have it turn out clean. Amazing work, Synni. It's really awesome to see you do something 100% original. I am excited to see more in the future of this story.

damn this is genuinely so interesting, like-- it's dark and it's obvious that taffy isn't a good person but because of this perspective she's sort of...sympathetic?? I'm not sure that's the right word to use here but I've got nothing else. so like-- as someone who's only knowledge of the story is through these videos, the way that you've portrayed it in this one pv is great, amazing work. it's clear that taffy is reacting in jealously and fear of abandonment, heath was her first and only real friend and the only one who hasn't abandoned her the way her family did because the both of them are orphans. her attachment to heath quickly becomes unhealthy as a new girl has been transferred to their orphanage and she and heath become quick friends over the years, taffy feeling as though she's being cast aside. she develops a resentment towards this girl and tries to get all of health's undivided attention with little success. it seems like heath had bigger plans in life, he wanted to make a name for himself and taffy took this as heath abandoning her, and this scares her. she eventually decides to kidnap heath, keeping him chained up in a basement, the logic here seems to be "if i do this he'll never leave me and he'll have no other option but to give all of his attention to me, just like he used to." heath is reasonably upset by this obviously, which is definitely an understatement, and he grows to resent taffy for doing this to him and this hurts taffy more than anything. it's nearly 6 am when I'm writing this and I definitely tried putting more thought into this than I should've,, whoops

I love the Blue shirt contransting with the red Character (I don't know her name unfortunately) it really shows her last bit of sanity which her only form is her love interest. I live how the story plays and those small Details!!!

I keep coming back and rewatching this. I really enjoy how this turned out. An art and anatomy has some odd parts but it kinda just adds to the unhinged and unhealthy parts of the animation. This really inspires me in a really enjoy how this turned out. I kinda just wanna know more about the story and how it kinda all went. It’s a very intreating animation:D

Taffy and Heath both need serious therapy I also hate how much I relate to Taffy on how possessive and how jealous she can get over one person in particuliar I also admit, I've had a lot of intrusive thoughts about things similar to what she did (isolating the person I care about to only have them for myself) I've never got the the point of an obsession, or something that would affect my daily life, and I do my best to not be that kind of person I really liked this animatic, I think that the reason why Taffy got so attached to Heath makes sense, but I don't reject the blame on the purple gal either. She did nothing wrong. Her and Heath did nothing wrong. Taffy had issues about her attachement towards Heath and she should have been helped by a professional with them. I really enjoy how you portrayed the relationships in this, I'm curious to learn more.

You've improved so much! The lineart on the thumbnail is amazing, the PMV gets the story across very well, and it generally looks nice! I especially like the way everyone is colored in one solid color, it's simple but it helps you distinguish everyone from one another. The transitions are also so amazinggg! I'm so fascinated at the fact my first few thoughts were "I've seen plenty of situations like this" then once I learned the story it became perfect You executed everything well and never lost my attention, and the story is very clearly laid out < 333 perfectttt

Okay but how is nobody talking about this? 3:38 If this scene occurred during the characters' childhood, that would mean that the red girl (I forgot her name) has psycho tendencies since she was a child, which would explain a bit her exaggerated reaction to the arrival of the purple girl.
