Trains actually have tires, but they’re made out of cast steel, and are fitted to the locomotives by use of thermal expansion. The tires are actually cast slightly smaller than the wheels themselves. The tires are then heated up using a blowtorch until they expand enough to fit around the locomotive’s wheel. They are then allowed to cool down until they go back to their original size.
