I'm sitting here watching this video on my PC while I'm watch the funeral of The Late Honorable President George H.W. Bush on TV. Until recently I didn't know he flew a bomber mission and was shot down after he bombed his target. These WWII military folks sure had a different and better set of values than most people all over the earth today.

@Maria Kelly It is just amazing how many conspiracy theories and how much hateful garbage is thrown around freely on the internet, and how many people actually buy this garbage and believe it. When he was president, I was not a big fan of his, but after seeing what the GOP has turned into, and how selfish and hateful politicians in general have become since then, and seeing how much GHWB worked with, respected and came to like Bill Clinton, the man who unseated him and became enemy no. 1 of the GOP, I came to realize how decent and honorable a man he truly was.

The lovely, and late, Jill Dorothy Ireland, Mrs. Charles Bronson(Charles Dennis Buchinsky), her second husband, David McCallum her first. McCallum was "Ilya Kuryakin" in the TV series, "The Man from U.N.C.L.E." Was introduced to her second husband, Charles Bronson, by her first, David McCallum during the filming of The Great Escape (1963). Both of her husbands, David McCallum and Charles Bronson, were stars of The Great Escape (1963). Was drafted into the army in 1943 and assigned to the Air Corps. At first he was a truck driver, but was later trained as a bomber tail gunner and assigned to a B-29. He flew 25 missions and received, among other decorations, a Purple Heart for wounds incurred in battle. imdb

This was just one of several 12o'ch episodes which dealt with what is known as Survivor Syndrome, also known as Survival Guilt. It was only after working with survivors of the NAZI death camps did we truly start to understand it. Korea and Vietnam brought it to the forefront. Twilight Zone also explored it in several episodes. One study suggests it is the number one cause of suicide among vets. I recall reading a study which theorized it was one of the forces which caused USAAF vets, after WWII, to buy motorcycles and band together into what became The Hells Angels.

Rolland Fitch by the time this series was made if the belly landed a different B17 every time a script called for it, there would be none left flying today. The only other option would be a model, but we saw how bad that technique worked in the previous episode 25 Missions. At this time in television you had to suspend reality just a bit to get the story told. By 1980 when BetaMax and later VHS came out we had tools at our disposal (Rewind, Reverse, Fast Forward, Slow Play, etc, to nitpick every detail. Sometimes the actors make verbal miscues. I could swear Kominnsky called himself a Lt. When he told the gunners he would put them on report if they didn’t treat the pilot in command with respect. Today there are production people assigned to watch all these continuity details and things are reshot or even digitally correct. Production Time was tight with a weekly series and technology relatively poor. It was what it was.

At 20"30, the 1st engine they started turned clockwise. Wrong!!! At 20:38 the 2nd engine they started did so "properly" CCW, as did #3,and #4. All 4 engines on a B17 turned CCW as did - ALL American WWII planes - ONLY the left engine on a P38 rotated CW. It was the only American plane with counter rotating props which os why it was able to turn tighter to the right than German planes (which also rotated CCW) This startup film sequence has to have been flipped!! On the P38 the props rotated such that their slip stream flowed toward center under the plane. Lft CW, Rt CCW Lest this seem confusing. Sitting in the cockpit engines were numbered from LEFT #1 & #2 to right #3 & #4. However the engine rotation CCW is considered from standing in front of the plane looking toward the engines. (Dont know why)

Can someone answer this question: if a plane full of bombs gets shot down- do the bombs explode on impact, or do the bombs have to be primed or unlocked before they are dropped?
@Bubba22able
@Bubba22able 4 года назад
They aren't armed until they drop. The little propeller on the front has a wire through it so it won't spin and arm the detonator until it falls away. It's comparable with cocking the hammer on a gun. However, they will explode in a fire.

Probably, but I had friends in Europe in the seventies who said some couples left infants in the crib with bottles and went out for hours. One couple shocked them by taking a day trip across a border from Holland to France, leaving a baby less than a year old for most of a day. Terribly unsafe parenting. I'd call it abuse, because I never left my babies alone to hang clothes on the line. Others do.

Yep. Interestingly, I checked on IMDB, and after the first few episodes of Season 2, all the episode writers were new names who never appeared in Season 1. It's as if all the good writers got upset when Lansing got fired and quit in protest. But these episodes are, with a few rare exceptions, much more soap-opera-like, with far out, predictable, and uninteresting plots. There are also repetitive themes, such as loners and wackos who break away from the group in combat, or Gallagher being wounded and shot down.
