That's what I was thinking. I guess it would be more odd if they just went at it for an hour though. Birds don't seem to be designed for long sessions beside the fireplace.

well that's mostly true, except I highly doubt that the bird actually intends to mate for the sake of reproduction, that would imply it has a comprehension that mating is what makes babies. I'm skeptical that most animals understand reproduction, even humans through out history haven't all understood it, and have had all kinds of different notions about it.
