How can anyone argue with your own interpretations so long as they are accompanied by the emotion they elicit to you personally, and none of us who have followed your TOP journey thus far can deny your connection. And that's the genius of Tyler, that the lyrics can elicit emotion for the individual. You take what YOU want. Enjoy your own personal journey. Its beautiful to watch. And the way you're flying through these must mean that you're close now to 'Fall Away' (live fear Dr Blum) 🤐
The three people in the cab most likely represent the Father, the Son and the Holy Ghost so you were right on with the biblical reference. Just a little F.Y.I, Josh didn't join the band until 2011/2012 when they released their second album Regional at Best; Tyler preformed with his friends Chris Salih and Nick Thomas and they put out this album in 2009.
Thanks so much for this.. I did not know the time frame of when Josh joined but someone else did tell me a while ago that Josh joined later ☺️☺️ thanks for this ❤️🙏
Fun fact: the third verse in this is one of Tyler's favorite things he's ever written, he said it in an interview from a while ago. Also this album was released in 2009, before Josh was in the band, but the video you watched was uploaded in 2015. You should continue checking out this album, you'll find a lot of it is pretty dark and very spiritual, if you go back even further into no phun intended, an album just Tyler himself wrote when he was very young, it's even darker but really incredible. Congrats on 5k!
@@thefablesphere yes self titled is a very dark album, but still has that tone of hope to it. it ranks third on my list of their albums behind Trench and Vessel. Addict with a pen (which you have already done) came from this album as well. If you like these dark tones with notes of hope and spirituality then you will really like March to the Sea and Trapdoor when you get to them. I also recommend the pantaloon and idle of flightless birds from this album. I love how these guys take their views as Christians and gets them across without being preachy or shoving religion down your throat, much the same way that NF, POD, or Skillet do it.
I feel this song is basically from the perspective of someone who is about to die in a sense, talking to someone and saying "I'm on my way, but dont be afraid because you'll remember me and you'll still love me, and I'll still love you." The final verse is basically him in the casket and finding out that he has died. I've always thought the "Three Men" at the end symbolizes the Father, The Son, and The Holy Spirit or the Trinity of God in a sense bringing him to heaven: "driving towards the morning sun where all your blood is washed away and all you did will be undone" Ngl this is my fave Tyler has ever written. When he sang it on the Bandito tour I cried more than i ever thought I would. Edit: Oh btw the lyrics in the final verse was "Backs of heads" so its like he was in the back of the cab and sees all three of them in the front. Tyler during self titled era needed to work on his enunciation a bit sometimes 😂😂
@@thefablesphere no prob! Love your reactions man and its super awesome to see you react to the older songs too. Not many do and it sucks cuz they make a lot of amazing songs. This album was recorded and written back in like 2009 which was when the band first formed. Their albums basically go No Phun Intended (2007-ish) Self titled- 2009 RAB- 2011 Vessel- 2013 Blurryface: 2015 Trench: 2018 Its pretty cool to see thsyre very consistent with their albums tbh. Tyler really loves what he does and it shows. Major probs with keeping up with all the crazy requests!
It so beautiful and it was written by a YOUNG TYLER who never wrote s song to be heard it was only his form of therapy. He never meant for his music to be played.
You are a part of the clique, and anyone who tries to say you haven't reacted properly isn't. Tyler writes the songs for us to interpret individually You have become a favorite of mine. I welcome you to the clique, and if you get to a hometown show I look forward to showing you around.
Reffering to 5:20 You dont literally even have to mention that, ur reactions and reviews are amazing, I love your own interpretation for every song, just dont listen to that. U are literally the most passionate and realistic reactor I have seen...
I see this as a story about someone who tried to take their own life, then gets found and saved. This person gets picked up by an ambulance and this song is basically his ride to the hospital. He's getting saved by the doctors who tell him "We're driving towards the morning sun where all you're blood is washed away and all your did will be undone" meaning he will be forgiven for his actions. When he's asking "Am I alive and well or am I dreaming dead" he's asking whether his attempt was successful because he is probably filled up on drugs and not thinking clearly. His blood will be washed away : literally, his wounds will be cleaned What he did will be undone: Him taking his life will be undone, he will be healthy in a physical sense at least The timeline: through the night, early morning when the sun starts to rise. The nighttime in twenty one pilots metaphors is often this negative time where bad things happen to your mind. So whilst the people are telling him he's going towards the morning sun this finally gives him relief of the night. The person singing the lines don't be afraid could be a family member driving with them and trying to soothe the person who tried to commit suicide. Or it could be Tyler from a outside perspective meaning he's maybe written this song about a friend that did this to himself. Last thing it could be is that the lines come from the person who is dying, their motivation would be to soothe his family and friends when they thought he was going to die. In this song you can sense so much pain in Tylers voice, I think this might be one of the songs that meant the most to him in the earlier eras.
Just letting you know that this song along with the album was released in 2009 this was their debut self-release, self-titled album that at the time had the 3 original twenty one pilots members, Tyler Joseph, Nick Thomas, and Chris Salih. Both Nick and Chris had to leave the band due to their life responsibilities and Josh later joined the band in 2011. Also this album has a lot of references and metaphors to Tyler’s faith that at the time he struggled with along with mental illness.
You should definitely react to implicit demand for proof (off the same album as taxi cab) oh and by the way, this album was released in 2009, and Josh didn't join until about 2011. Twenty One Pilots originally consisted of 3 people, Tyler Joseph, Chris Salih, and Nick Thomas. Later on Chris snd Nick left the band and Josh joined. Now its just Tyler and Josh. keep up the great content!
taxi cab is one of my favorite songs ever and the way i see it is: the person inside the taxi cab tried to take its on life and the taxi cab is an ambulance saving him "we had to steal him from his fate so he could see another day" "then i sat up off the floor and found the breath i was searching for" "all you did will be undone"
That is actually one of Tylers first songs written for his album Twenty One Pilots or how other people call the album "Self titled", it was first gonna be called Johnny Boy Ep but one of the songs couldn't be on the album cause of copyright issues, so he made some more songs for the album and then named it after their band name. This album was written way back in 2009 when it wasn't even him and Josh. It might look like it was made in 2015 but this album is written more than 10 years ago. If you go in to Regional at Best songs you will probably never find it and see it be there forever, cause they are removing that whole album. Regional at Best was made back in 2011 and then 1 year later they got signed by their label Fueled by Ramen and then made Vessel. Tyler decided to put some of the songs on Regional at best on Vessel like Ode to sleep, Holding on to you, Car radio, Guns for hands and trees. You can still find some Regional at best songs because they put some other songs on a bonus track for Vessel, those being Forest, Glowing Eyes, Kitchen Sink and Lovely. Anyways, I hope you learned something new and also congrats on 5k
Look, Tyler writes not only deep, but very layered music. We understand what it is like to discover the band and navigate through their discography. No true fan should ever give you shit about first time listens and your interpretations. Most of us change ours as time goes on and we have listened to the songs a million times or because we are in a different place in our life and we find different parts than before. That is part of the beauty and genius of their music. We also share alot of our theories online with each other so no one gets everything out the gate. So don't pay any mind to assholes in the comments. They just have nothing better to do. Keep making videos and we will keep watching them!
Taxi Cab was out 2009. Before Josh was in the band, there was Chris Salih and Nicholas Thomas. They both quit 2011. Chris Salih was working in Guitar Center with Josh Dun. Fast forward: Josh quit his job to play in a show with Tyler (who was now alone). After that they've been together in the band. Tyler Joseph was quite depressed when he was young. He talks about it in some interviews. For example on FaceCulture's video on Tyler.
Fable! hi, i posted this song last friday (holy friday) because i love this interpretation. [ In “Taxi Cab,” Tyler refers the Holy Spirit as “ghost” as he wants to be filled with the Holy Spirit, but is torn by the fact that he is a “half a soul divided” as he again mentions his struggles with his sinful nature. In this song, Tyler references some scripture such as found in Psalm 30:5 which is, “…Weeping may tarry for the night, but joy comes with the morning,” with the lyrics “there were three men,” referring to the trinity, talking about the night and “darkness [fading] away” so the one who was struggling “could see another day.” The last stanza of the song ends with one of the three men who were in the cab saying, “we're driving toward the morning, son, where all your blood is washed away, and all you did will be undone," obviously referring to the death of Jesus Christ and the meaning of His crucifixion for our sins (John 3:16)." ] it may not be 100% correct but i'm christian and i love it. 🙌🇦🇷
Tyler and Josh deliberately leave it to their fans to interpret their lyrics how they choose; they don’t explain the meaning of their lyrics. The genius of Tyler is that his songs have so many different layers of meanings. People of different cultures and beliefs find a way to interpret and relate to each song, and I love hearing and reading these interpretations. They evoke so many great discussions. You keep doing you, man. Love you and your reactions!
Hi. Awesome as usual!! I'll leave the song explanations to someone else, but I want to fill you in on two things that you nailed!! Beautiful sound - dark lyrics. He does it a lot, and he is very much aware of it. In a song called "Not Today" from Blurryface, here's the second verse: "Listen, I know this one's a contradiction because of how happy it sounds, but the lyrics are so down - It's okay though because it represents - wait - better yet it is who I feel I am right now..." And, you mentioned that you haven't heard a bad song. In some really early interviews, Tyler talked about how he "writes albums, not singles." While no artist can do this perfectly, he tries his best to treat each and every song as its own entity. He does NOT write filler material! He's often said of their music that he/they wants to produce the music and create the shows that they always wanted to see. Every song is also written with the live performance in mind - specifically, how to INCLUDE the fans, etc. This shit is really well thought out. And even if they frustrate you sometimes, look on the bright side - their music is intelligent enough to always make you think and stay on your toes! Here endeth the lesson, LOL. Cheers!
They are just insane... you can see the man writes music with a purpose and not just singles! He love the story telling and the tie-ins!! Hard to find artists that do this today! They are unique in every way! ☺️❤️🙏
Tyler writes songs for everyone to find themselves inside the lyrics! Its purpose is to help people to cope with life, depression and suicidal thoughts... And your reactions of TØP are one of the best I’ve seen!👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏😌
This song was off the first album self-titled “Twenty One Pilots” in 2009 with the original band members which consisted of Tyler, Chris Salih (drummer), and Nick Thomas (bassist). Nick and Chris left the band in early 2011 due to personal reasons, but Josh was introduced to Tyler as a friend of Chris’s and even attended a show or two before he ever played with Tyler. Tyler and Josh became good friends and together self-released Regional At Best (Kitchen sink was in this one) in 2011. They got signed And then continued on into Vessel, Blurryface, Trench, etc. I hope that helps!
One thing Tyler has always been very clear on is his songs all have a specific meaning to him but he wants his fans to take their own interpretations and use them however it helps them the most - he would never tell anyone their interpretation of a song is incorrect - so any "fan" who is ripping on your for your own interpretation is basically going against everything twenty one pilots stands for - i wouldn't lose sleep over them
Fable I really like so much your reactions, please dont miss house of gold thats a really beautiful song but the video is so creapy, sorry for my english, saludos desde México 🇲🇽
One of my favorites!! Great reaction! Definitely a biblical reference. In the second verse he talks about being a ‘breathless piece of death for you’ and then in the third he talks about finding the breath he’s been searching for (Holy Spirit) which represents dying to self and being reborn with Christ. The three men represent God, Holy Spirit and Jesus. He says only one of the men turned around to talk to him ( that would be Jesus because he is the only one that has been physically seen on earth) and the Driver who grabbed the map and hailed the taxi cab once the hearse (represents our life’s journey) ran out of gas is God himself coming up with a new plan to save his soul. Isle of Flightless Birds is another great song by them!
Hello. The interpretation that I give is based on changes in rhythm that normally imply changes in person or perspective. I feel like the first part of the song is from the perspective of someone saying goodbye to a loved one and after the chorus it's the person who is dying. It's a beautiful song that can touch your soul, that part where it says - Don't be afraid. God 💔😭
My personal interpretation for one of the line at the end "heading towards the morning sun, where all your blood will be washed away and what you did will be undone" is a throw back to how the night time is where he feels vulnerable and at his weakest, he see's himself as this monster and the "heading towards the morning sun" is the kind of "don't worry the mornings coming just hold tight! all the darkness and dark thoughs will be left and this day, this morning is a new" Just my little take on it anyway :) Stay safe everyone, you are loved and amazing! :)
This song and addict with a pen always make me cry. So much emotion. It's an incredible gift, Tyler has. I appreciate your reactions; so thoughtful and honest.
This is a real story. One day I'm so depressed, I really lost my thoughts on that day, because I'm heartbroken and something bad happens on my work, I feel like I'm being hated by everyone. I'm sitting in my room listening to music and questioning everything, I really want to cry but I can't, I really want to end it because I can't handle too much pressure. Then this song plays when Tyler says "don't be afraid" I started to cry. I feel like I'm being saved.
this is one of my most favorite songs from tøp. i remember hearing this the first time at a time when i could not put to words things im feeling and then this song came into my life. seeing other people react to it is both just as fun and vulnerable. and don't worry fil! interpretation is very subjective. there are many sides to art! you're doing just fine. :) thanks for this fil!! ||-//
I fuckin love how you dive into the songs and strip them apart and put them into your own interpretation. Dont let the haters get you down. Sometimes the only taste of success people get is when they take a bite out of yours
Bypass any negativity... it's not worth anyone's time or effort. The fact that you're hitting these lyrics so deeply means so much more than someone just listening and saying, cool lyrics.. I think your awesome. I feel the same Fil, there's not one bad song on anything he's put his name to.
I highly recommend Isle of flightless birds...its so beautiful. Also a lot of his earlier songs have a lot of religious meanings/references. Another banger vid.
No more tears left.... we’re driving toward the morning sun, where all your blood is washed away and all you did will be undone ... there’s hope... don’t be afraid. Oh, Tyler 🙈🙈🙈
The song is basically a monologue from someone who's dead. The ending verse and the cab itself represents the send off into the afterlife. The cab is the transportation, the box is a casket, and "driving towards the morning sun where all your blood is washed away and all you did will be undone" is just him going off into a new plane, being washed away of all sin and all his humanly things.
your content is great! don’t let the trolls bring you down! everything else i was gonna say has already been said, so i’ll spare you that part. this is one of my favorite songs ever and if it’s possible i want at least the instrumental to be played at my funeral. keep up the good work and congrats on the new addition to your family! 🖤
Your rant was appropriate. No one should tell you how to enjoy music or how to interpret the words that you are hearing and what emotions they evoke in you. Tyler purposely doesn't say what a song means so that everyone can take from it what they need. Sometimes it's obvious, but most of their songs will require digging into the darker corners of your mind and pulling into the light certain things that you might have hidden from yourself. TØP music is a journey. Glad to see you enjoying it.
I agree with you on your rant, twenty one pilots makes there music for people who want to interpret there lyrics how they want there is no wrong or right its just whatever you think there message is it's gonna open your eyes one way or another. Great rant
There is a cool and different live version of this which he performed not that long ago, compared to the original which was 10 years ago. It was at a SiriusXM Radio event, you should definitely check it out if you are interested!
this song has saved me so many times. i’ve struggled for a while but i am glad that i’m over a year clean. i was able to hear this song live in 2018 and i can tell you that it sounds even more beautiful live. i reccomend you to listen to drown-tyler joseph it’s off of his solo album no phun intended that he wrote when he was 17 and trying to find purpose in this dark place of his.
That’s why I love their songs because yes, there’s the main meaning of the song but I like to interpret them to fit my life. I saw them live in November and it completely changed my life highly recommend to try going to one, also love your reactions. ||-//
I'd love to see you do a live show! Maybe a live reaction to twenty one pilots like a live show of theirs? Or whatever you think would work, I'd be in attendance for sure.
I’m French and I always have to find the lyrics on websites, cause I cannot understand all by myself. And there are two versions of the end of the song « we’re driving to the morning, son » and « we’re driving to the morning sun », and I never succeeded to know which one is the right one 🤷♀️anyway Taxi cab is an absolute masterpiece and your interpretation is so relevant wow. For me hope is in « don’t be afraid » as a biblical reference.
I appreciate your deep dive into the songs and what your thoughts and interpretations are. Say what you feel and feel what you say. Don’t apologize. That person is a Debbie downer and just likes to pull others down and feel superior. Continue what you do. Pause as much as you want. I do appreciate ya rewinding it a bit when ya do just to reset the mood into the next section. This is your purpose!
If you listen to their strip down versions of some of their songs from the Trench album you'll understand and won't even give a damn about that one person giving you the bad vibes on how you explain their songs on your own terms and your own understanding. We all have our own interpretations of their songs so KUDOS on not giving a F*** about that person bringing you down. You've done an amazing job in doing what you are doing right now. Tyler said something about his writing and creating their songs process and that there is no anchor to those songs and that us, the listeners, the fans, we are the anchor. He creates those songs and the only thing that he knows that those songs are good is because of us, the listeners/fans we like/love their songs. We became the anchor for those songs so don't be discouraged if that one person tells you that you're interpretations for those songs are very wrong. Remember, you are the anchor for Twenty One Pilots songs. Keep up that awesome reactions. Your journey is our journey as well. #FableSquad Stay Safe & Stay Alive.
I have really enjoyed your reactions to TØP songs. Did you ever get to a live show? I have gone twice and going to the Icy tour in Sept. They are so amazing!
I am so happy for you that you have found the boys 💛💛 I am excited for you to discover how much Tyler and Josh have healed since this song was written. Ive been binging on this playlist since yesterday! Stay alive fren ||-//
Can we make it 3 tøp videos in one day?! Because I would absolutely love to see your reaction to Isle of Flightless Birds from this same album. Fuck anyone that tries to give ya shit, you’re the realest reactor I’ve seen.
I lovethis first debut album! Isle of flightless birds and fall Away are my favorite songs. Love your reactions dude!! By the way if you do decide to react to Fall Away, be sure to do the live version feat Dr Blum... thanks!
I just realised ‘ we’re driving towards the morning sun’ Morning sun = morning star Morningstar= the devil So we’re driving towards hell WTF IM ON FIRE TODAY!
