Isn’t it awesome when there’s good news in Nature? For 20 years the Boteti River in northern Botswana has not flowed. What was once an expansive and prolific body of water gradually dried up, leaving zebras, hippos, elephants and crocodiles dependent on the few pools formed from the occasional rains. But now, for the first time in 30 years, rain has fallen in sufficient quantities hundreds of miles to the north in the Angolan highlands, sending a stream of water through the river bed. After years of extreme drought, the river has finally returned in all its glory, transforming the landscape. Good news for nature!

Global warming is a miff in my opinion it’s what’s been happening for millions of years it just normal but I do believe that nuclear explosions and fall out is the real reason we have a hole in the ozone liar if that’s true..I honestly don’t think it’s been caused by burning wood and coal but I could be wrong..Anyways good to hear different points of views, nice talking to you 👍

I’ve been to Botswana, most recently April 2022. It’s always a joy to be in the African bush witnesses the amazing wildlife. The zebra migration is a phenomenon much like the wildebeest migration in Kenya and Tanzania. It’s a harsh life of survival for many of the animals, very raw and unscripted. The circle of life is dependent on each species, their behavior always on display. I feel humble, blessed and a privilege to have witnessed these mighty creatures. ❤

You want to know the real reason for the drought? Diamond mines. The Boteti stretches from Ngamiland to the main Boteti District, where it is used to fill the Mopipi Dam, which is important to the many diamond mines of the area, particularly the Orapa diamond mine. So if you really care about this, stop buying diamonds

These animals (especially the Elephants and Crocs - my heart went out to them 😍) waited more than 20years for rain and river flows.....This is amazing. Zebra were baffled by a flowing river. Wow, this is so Amazing. Thank you for the documentary. Animals can always help us learn one or two things about life.

Very well done documentary. Over the years I've watched hundreds of nature documentaries, and they are mostly getting better. Equipment is better, knowledge is better etc. I've learned to recognize many of the narrators, and some are favourite, some not so much. I noticed Sean Pertwee narrated this, and I really liked his voice and his style. I recognize his name as the actor who played the Sheriff in the first Cadfael movies, and Sean Pertwee was my favourite of the Hugh Beringars.

I always enjoy Nature documentaries! We have been fortunate to enjoy safaris twice in Tanzania and once in Rwanda to see the mountain gorillas. Unfortunately safaris are expensive since we travel from Honolulu to Seattle to Amsterdam to Arusha. Wish we could go more often! Nature documentaries provide a more thorough understanding of wildlife that could never be learned on a safari. We are fortunate to have documentaries like Nature! Another Nature documentary that I enjoyed recently was "The Termite and Elephant" which described the symbiotic relationship between the termite and elephant in creating waterholes.

The footage of the lion killing the zebra was grafted on from an older documentary. It was not the "mother zebra" which looked like it had been shot to me... they had no real footage of the kill and either were extremely lucky to stumble upon a very fresh lion kill or they shot it and planted it there. All is not what it seems in the world of film making! And I have seen the "rive reborn" in old BBC docs, and far better filmed if I'm honest.
