I live in an apartment, and today I had a neighbor ask me if there was a kid staying with me. I looked at her surprised and said no, and she responded with "oh! we've been hearing a little kid yelling 'yipeeeee' a bunch for the past couple days" and you can imagine my horror. I didn't know how to explain that it was I, the 23 y/o man next door, vocal stimming 😭
Yippee is such a fun stim 😂 me and my husband will just bounce our stims off of each other with very niche vine/JnJ references and our mostly nonspeaking 4 year old has joined in now 😅😅😅
I am not from the Navajo tribe. I’m Hidatsa and Lakota, but I find so much joy that Julien elected to ban the Word for that mod for being culturally insensitive and bastardizing another tribes traditions. Dink love guys!
It is honestly so heart warming and inspiring how much effort julien puts into keeping the dink community one that is safe, kind, and respectful to everyone
They could have called it the bodysnatchers mod and it would have fit the space theme so much better but nope gotta use language that bothers people to be edgy. ugh.
Can someone explain to me why the skinwalker mod suggestion was said to be culturally insensitive and then the word blocked? I’ve seen lots of RU-vidrs use it so I’m just curious because I’ve never heard of the term and can’t seem to find online how it may be insensitive. TIA ☺️
Skinwalkers are a part of Navajo culture/tride. Another commentor mentioned it briefly. I think (and I may be wrong as a white person myself) because it is actually apart of another cultures history/ part of their traditions, it can be inappropriate to use it as a monster in a video game.

I think part of it is also (as a white person I cannot confirm but this is what I have heard, please if any native/Navajo people see this please correct me) that saying the sk*nwalkers name also supposedly calls it to you, so saying it’s name is ill advised. I really appreciate Julen being sensitive to those issues. I’m still not sure why they couldn’t just name it the mimic mod
@@benawisphoenix me too! He’s great for listening to cultures, vulnerable groups of people, etc and making sure to be sensitive to these things. Thank you for informing me, both of you! I will look more info on them as needed and hopefully find resources from Navajo resources. ❤️
