Some might not notice the changes, but this version makes a big difference to me. TWICE vocals are so pretty but the producers left so many off tune notes in the song (especially at the chorus). I was able to correct the pitch of the notes that were bothering me thanks to the clean and clear acapella by @Audio Hacker. Edit: I would like to mention that I didn't use auto-tune, I individually corrected each note and I even added a bit of vibrato sometimes. I could have made it sound less auto-tuned indeed but it was complicated for many notes, I should have tried other techniques. But honestly I like this result, even if I understand it can be too much.

I’m just finding this but two major differences I can hear is how Momo doesn’t sound like she’s struggling with her high note lines anymore and how in the Chorus it’s “soften” the “edges” where they say “I’m Alcohol Free but I’m drunk”

You're so good at pitch correcting, personally I would have left about 20% of this "untuned" to maintain a tipsy flowy vibe but i love hearing the difference! I haven't personally tuned my own vocals but i've been playing around with some of my stuff recently and tuning really does make the final product more polished! maybe the production of Alcohol free was rushed? but the back-round vocals are so minimal I don't even think it would take more than 2 hours to tune it all? I agree though, I think the official versions sounds a little messy and tuning a little more would have provided a more polished end product!

Thanks ! The backing vocals and the reverb in the acapella made it a bit complicated and I agree this song should sound more natural. I guess I was a bit too focused on the perfect pitch of the notes. I appreciate your feedback :)

@@BomilooEdits do u have any tips or tutorial on how to create those auto tune like vocals ?
@BomilooEdits
@BomilooEdits 3 года назад
@@oliviasoul5898 I don't think I could give tips or teach (unless it's a very specific question maybe) but I can tell you what I'm using. I use Elastic Audio, this is so good but it's inside of a DAW (Samplitude Music Studio 2013). I think this is similar to Melodyne, it looks like this video : ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-L5AWHiaHGDA.html. With this I can correct the pitch and do whatever I want with the notes, like changing the melody, creating an auto-tune effect, etc. I also tried an auto-tune plugin, MAutoPitch, the real advantage is that it can be used live, but this can be great for a quick auto-tune effect.

@@BomilooEdits thank you so much . when i heard those cleanly adjusted pitch in your latest next level mashup i instanty fell in love with it thank you once again for taking your time to write this with all love thank you so much To T ill be sure to try all of them
@BomilooEdits
@BomilooEdits 3 года назад
@@oliviasoul5898 You're welcome ! Actually I didn't use any of that in my Next Level mashup, I only used something called like "pitch/transposition clip automation". I should have mentioned it too. I don't know if you already know or work with automation, but that's just automation with the pitch, and directly in the clip editor. In the program I use, Ableton Live, this is very simple to do. But I don't know if it's easy or possible with other programs. This is definitely something so helpful when I'm making mashups, I use it when I want to change some notes in a simple way. Elastic Audio is for more complex things, it can change the texture of the sound but this only changes the pitch, I don't know if I'm clear. I hope you will be able to find a way!

I know what you're trying to do, but Alcohol Free was already pitch corrected. The difference between JYP's version and yours is that JYP uses Melodyne or some alternative where pitch is corrected without causing excessive distortions and artifacts in the vocals, whereas you're using autotune, which pitch corrects vocals more aggressively. There's a reason why the vocals were tuned with Melodyne and not autotune - it's supposed to pitch correct the vocals so naturally that the average listener shouldn't be able to tell that the vocals were pitch corrected to achieve that "perfect" sound.
@BomilooEdits
@BomilooEdits 3 года назад
Yes, I actually didn't use auto-tune at all. What you're saying about Melodyne is exactly what I was trying to do lol. It's just that some notes were so far from the right pitch that I ended up prioritizing the pitch over the naturalness but I guess the technique I used was not the best now that I think about it. And actually I think that JYP's version uses auto-tune. They simply set the same low value for all of the song, which couldn't fix the most off tune notes. If they took the time to use Melodyne the result wouldn't have been what it is. I just think that at this point achieving a pitch perfect and natural result is not possible. They should have re-recorded the vocals until they're better, because indeed for this kind of song a natural sounding is much better.
@YBlvr
@YBlvr 3 года назад
@@BomilooEdits sorry, I didn’t know you used Melodyne. The point I wanted still stands though - tuning shouldn’t compromise vocal tone and quality. I think your video idea is interesting, but I hope you can fine tune your tuning process more to get a better result

I would suggest to simply compare the choruses, that's where the changes are more noticeable. Otherwise there are changes during all of the song.

That's your opinion, personally as someone who can hear every single off tune note, the original is irritating to listen to. My hearing wasn't always like that, so I understand that not everyone hear the off tune notes as much as me.
