We love our biases so much and it sometimes hurts to feel like our feelings are second when they date someone. I've been reading a lot on concepts for the song since I became a fan after this song came out. Combining what I've read from other theories and comments, there is a lot of symbolism. Chaeyoung, who is known for her rapping, opens with actual singing, and she does it alone, in an isolated white dome, vulnerable and easily scrutinized. This is in contrast with Dahyun, who is a great rapper, but is the secondary, who gets the whole rap breakdown by herself, a comparatively long piece. Both challenge the ideas of what they are known for and excel, but they do so alone. Mina's lyrics and the forest are such a clear reference to that anxiety disorder. It was a beautiful and powerful portrayal, being lost in the woods. Notice that as the scene starts, she's in a darker segment of the woods, but it's her mint-colored streamers that guide her to the white dome wherein is Chaeyoung. I've read there was a powerful movement when Mina's struggles were addressed when ONCE would carry mint-colored glowsticks at events while she was absent to support her. In this way, ONCE guides her to Chaeyoung, who, along with TWICE, save her. Tzuyu, who is known for her visual, gets to really express her voice, but she's portrayed as just a beautiful doll and nothing more. For Momo… To be honest, I haven't found anything that gives Momo specific symbolism, although I did read she is into doll collecting. In the end, Momo is who finds Tzuyu despite being hidden among doll houses, and recognizes her individuality and value beyond her beauty. Nayeon is trapped in the TVs as a bright object with little contrast, as though the media has captured her. I've also read that she struggled during the training phase and felt trapped within the process of becoming an idol without much love or support compared to members like Jihyo. Jihyo, as you said, had her dating scandal. All the TVs surround her emptily; unlike with Nayeon, who was trapped within them, the TVs crowd Jihyo, dark, without anything actually on the screens (nothing substantive to say, just looking for a scandal to publicize). Then they see each other through the screens, and the context of the TVs disappears; they've made it to their idol status and supported each other through it. Jeongyeon starts with the others on stage with her, but they disappear as you focus on her, implying she feels that she, herself, is just an irrelevant background character. I wasn't aware of her struggles with her solo work until you brought it up, but this context also applies. She is glamorous and beautiful on her throne, but she's emotionless, listless, sad. But another version of herself is on the staircase nearby with the rest of TWICE, and she's happy. It's TWICE that makes her feel special and reminds her she is relevant. She symbolizes most explicitly how TWICE supports each other. Sana, who, as you said, got hate for her comments about the Heisei era coming to an end, also (according to some) received a lot of hate in earlier eras of TWICE. She was perceived as not up to par or not performing to the level of the others; some said she was often sick as an excuse. Her lyrics in the chorus about "hurtful words" are the rain falling around her, and she's abandoned in the street with no one caring about her. And you can see that NOBODY and SOMEBODY are signs in the background; NOBODY is backwards, and you can interpret that as in the past, but I see it as, although it's behind her (in her past), it's still only readable correctly from her perspective - even though she's past those events, she still reads the word NOBODY, even when no one else can. Dahyun doubles in symbolism here as she carries the umbrella with the spiral and colors of ONCE; the umbrella shields Sana from the rain (the hateful comments). Although we get to see Dahyun smiling at Sana, mirroring the way all the TWICE members smile as representations for each other and the support they share, it doesn't turn back to Sana. Dahyun while holding the umbrella, represents ONCE, and the MV ends with Sana smiling back (at us). I'm not writing all that to challenge you, but to kind of celebrate your point. This song really is so personal, so full of symbolism. I became a fan by coincidence when I found this song and just liked it for what it was. But when I read about Mina and her part in the video, I got hooked hard. It was an even more beautiful song than I realized. Comments like yours made me realize that.
