TWICE debuted with the wild & edgy concept, but after Cheer Up became an insanely massive hit, they decided to go with the cute concept and they did that concept for quite a few years. There's nothing more to it. The audience loved their cute and innocent concept and JYP went with it. That's what I have heard.

Signal didn't hit as hard over here from what I understand. It actually won them Song of the Year at Mnet Asian Music Awards! It definitely is one of their most different songs, but I love it so much! It gets catchier over time!
I feel like the lyrics for ooh ahh are talking about wanting to fall in love but not just with anyone. I also feel like your reaction to their debut is probably why twice went in a more cute direction after that song.
honestly kpop isn't as innocent as you think. they just often make things to have double meaning so that the not so innocent side is not as noticeable(so that agencies can get away freely n defended by fans). this has been going on since forever n is still going on now. highly doubt Twice is any different especially with the way they're marketed paired with lyrics (n Jyp's reputation with how he marketed underaged girlgroup members even from Wonder Girls era). big companies especially use this sly method seamlessly while smaller companies usually lack those tricky aspect n be more blatant. but it's not the fault of people who see the obvious n concerned rather than what could be the ideal. kpop has always been this way sadly. doesn't mean people are blaming the idols but fans need to be less defensive for agencies especially for things that obviously not needed to be defended.
I loved “Like Ooh-Aah” the first time I heard it. The vocals were amazing. It was really funny though when I heard it because before I listened to it for whatever reason I thought it was going to be a dark concept. Like I thought they were going to be whispering ooh ahh instead of singing it. For some reason when I saw the title I thought dark concept but I’m glad that it’s not. For signal I definitely think that it was a different concept but I enjoyed it. It was a total bop and I think the lyrics are really cute. For merry and happy, I usually hate Christmas music but merry and happy is absolutely beautiful and I love it. And for the best thing I ever did, I think it’s a really beautiful song. It was also really funny hearing that kids these days are reckless. Me being a girl who’s younger than 18 I was like “Ahh yeah! Let’s go!” Not really because I’m a simple T-shirt and shorts girl but it was still really funny.
Don't worry most people relate to your first reaction/description of Signal: "uh- mmh- it wass- not sure how to describe- it was something". It took me so long to get used to it but now I go JIRI JIRI, JIRI JIRI!
The gift exchanges in Merry and Happy were part of a real secret Santa. I think they have one every year, and they even have a vlog series Secret Friend from 2021 covering a different one.
If I’m being honest the first time I heard signal I wasn’t the biggest fan but I continued to listen to it and actually read the lyrics and that made grow to like the song more
Fun fact: Not many once knows this but The best thing i ever did mv is in reverse. It's a story of how when they're together. The beginning is the ending that's why they're alone from the start.

Like OOH-AHH has the zombie theme bcuz it was October and right before Halloween. Also, Bang Chan from Stray Kids is one of the zombies. He comes out a few times in it but he is most recognizable on the treadmill on the right side of the screen. Tzuyu and Chae were 16 in this. OH and btw it’s Nayeon Day (Nayeon’s Birthday) today. Anyways, back to debut, you could tell this was a special group from the jump. Out of this world visuals, could dance AND zombies????? True legends in the making!
Like Ohh-Ahh will always be my fave twice song. I'm really addicted to it even from the first time that I heard it (and it was a live performance so I am really amazed esp to Jihyo's vocal)
I had the same feeling with 'Signal'. But then I listened to it a couple more times, and saw the english translation of the lyrics. It was very well-written actually. I love the lyrics and it does reaaly fit well with the musical composition they were trying to do.
I know the members are acting in the MVs but some parts feel like their friendship is genuine. I guess you cant be super close with 8 other people but i'm sure they're still all friends IRL. I mean, if youre gonna work with the same people for all these years and need to always be in sync and spend all this time together, I HOPE they're friends. I feel like they are. You can tell when people are just being polite and professional and when they actually like each other. You can't fake real chemistry. It's just so wholesome to see a group of women who got each other's backs
I think some members have stated that it started out a bit chilly because they are literal "enemies" in sixteen but that all of them have grown really close and I believe Jeongyeon and Sana both have said something along the line of them basically being sisters now 😍 and some members have been close since trainees as well 💝

Fun Fact: Chaeyoung, Dahyun, Tzuyu, Somi, & Natty were the original ITZY members if 6Mix (Jihyo, Nayeon, Jeongyeon) debuted. Meanwhile, Sana (who replaced someone in 6Mix on the latter part), Momo, & Mina were to be part of an all-Japanese line-up that they said was supposed to be the girl-crush NiziU but fate changed the plan. I don't think Twice will be this successful if a certain member is missing. Each member has their own charm & charisma that completes the vibe of a National Girl Group.
Yes they really were getting each other gifts. Of what i remember Jeongyeon got Sana some thick ass beddings or blanket, Jihyo got Dahyun jacket and a book coz she said Dahyun loves to read, Nayeon got Momo a bag, Tzuyu got Mina facemask or something, and I think Sana got Nayeon some bath stuff. I dont remember the rest.

I remember the first time I listened to signal I saw a lot of people saying that that’s they worst song 😭😭 but I literally love it it’s so catchy and fun , it’s like rookie by red velvet for me it’s such a fun song 💕
When I first watched and listened to the best thing..., tears just fell out of my eyes. I just cried. Happy nostalgic tears. And the lyrics are so melancholy.
if you're going to check out SIXTEEN (TV Survival Show where TWICE was formed) this is the actual style and aura that chaeyoung's going with. She just became more sweet (the style i mean) when she's in in group.
Don't worry I'm not the biggest fan of Signal and I feel like it's pretty mixed on in the fandom too. Overall if you do the Japanese songs, I'd say Celebrate, Doughnut, Kura Kura, Better, Fake & True, and Breakthrough, are the main ones I'd be interested to see! Also can't wait for you to get to their B sides, cause especially all the albums "Fancy" to Between 1 & 2 are all pretty great and a lot of songs are better than the Singles imo

I think Like Ooh Ahh had that "Zombie concept" because it was released in october, pretty close to Halloween. They had individual trailers that were actually pretty creepy (at first Nayeon's is probably the creepiest, the later ones were just silly). I guess you could also interpret the lyrics as talking about how they're popular and everyone is acting like zombies around them, but they don't feel anything towards the "worshippers", they just want to feel something real with someone genuine. They "just wanna fall in love". Also, they came back to the Halloween Concept in TT, since they were "ghosts" dressed in different Halloween costumes (it also came out around Halloween. It even got to the where people were sort of expecting them to keep releasing Halloween concepts, so some people were surprised that Likey wasn't at all like that (it also came out in the autumn). x) Also "The Best Thing I Ever Did" is probably my favorite _video_ from Twice. It's so pretty in the snow, and I just love them hanging out at a dinner, and watching a movie of their previous shenanigans. I also think they did a real "secret santa" in Merry & Happy. ☺

I will never get over how good debut Momo looked and I feel like she’s never looked better since. The outfits, the platinum blonde with bangs, the sass, the dance solo. Everything in debut made me fall so hard. She’s never stood out in songs since debut I feel like.
