There are a lot of other fantasy movie/tv show couples that actually look and act like legit couples: Stelena, Delena, Steroline, Scallison, Scira, Clace, Sizzy, Malec, Captain Swan all come from fantasy/supernatural genre, (The Vampire Diaries, Teen Wolf, Shadowhunters & Once Upon A Time) the nature of their relationship isn't necessarily affected by all the supernatural situations going on around them. Just because it's fantasy, it doesn't have to be all cringey intense and retarted-ish kind of like the shit Bella and Edward pull. Considering your reply below, about how you've always despised how their relationship was portrayed when they were alone, I'm assuming you kinda agree? I watch fiction specifically to escape normality. I like when the very nature of a couple's relationship deviates from the norm; makes it more interesting, in my opinion. I don't find the staring/heavy breathing "cringey and retarded" in and of itself; my husband and I have been together for over 30 years, and we still do that often. But what bothers me about it in Twilight is that there's no _substance_ behind that intensity. Normal or not, there should be an underlying friendship in every relationship. My husband and I do and say all that intense stuff, but we also know each other very well and are comfortable together. We're not all stiff and formal like these two. I don't like fictional couples who display "normal" relationship dynamics. I like (and can even relate to) Edward and Bella's intensity and extreme dependence. I just find it cheesy *combined with* their lack of personality. Seeing them have fun together justifies all the so-called "cringey" stuff that I otherwise happen to enjoy seeing. Btw, I enjoyed Twilight, but I'm not a "fan". I only read/watched it because I don't let my kids read/watch anything without checking it out myself first.

The fact that you're not fond of ''normal'' fantasy/supernatural couples isn't the point of this conversation, - although I do respect your opinion of course - what I was trying to say was that, yes, Bella and Edward are a fictional couple that come from the fantasy/supernatural genre and because of that very fact, they're bound to act a little different and their overall relationship would not exactly depict that of an every day, regular couple's, but that doesn't give them the _pass_ to pull all those cringey intense/retarted-ish stares and struggling breathing/choking on words moments. Everyone watches/reads fiction to escape normality, (although, to each their own of course) but there is a fine line between fantasy and _absurdity._ You can write fantasy with all elements of all aspects of every relationship and create a healthy balance/harmony between that and reality, without losing the original touch of the story. Bella and Edward like it or not, and entirely objectively speaking, failed at that. You know, the funny thing is, that all the other couples in the saga _are_ normal. Alice & Jasper, Emmett & Rosalie, Esme & Carlisle - even Bella & Jacob are more coupley than her and Edward, I don't understand why the endgame couple was like that, like for real, they did the protagonists so dirty lol! 🤣 Okay, I don't know your and your husband but I can't even _fathom_ the idea of any sane, healthy couple relating to the madness that is Bella Swan & Edward Cullen. And look, it's not like I don't get what you're saying, sure, every couple has _their_ kind of intensity and special charm and so on, but what you mean when you say that you and your SO can relate to the nature of Bella and Edward's relationship, I'm pretty convinced isn't that cringeyness and eye-rolling worthy shit we see coming from them in all five movies. I actually don't like seeing them behave like a "normal" couple. Normal is boring, overrated, and you could always see it in real life. They're _supposed_ to be different. I like seeing them show their personalities together, for once, but I like that they're more intense than most couples.

I didn't find the dialogue that awkward, especially for Bella. She's a 17 year old introverted kid who never had a boyfriend, but now had a husband, made love for the first time, and is speaking openly about a subject that was pretty new to her. Awkward? Perhaps, but imo totally normal

She says she just was a few days late. You don't get a heartbeat that soon. Even Edward can't hear what's not there. The extended scenes make it more realistic and show them better as a couple.

@@nonu1401 even though im seeing this 3 months later maybe you still wanna know but after they had their first time bella immediately got pregnant since bellas baby isnt entirely human it grew very fast so she started having cravings right away and one of them was eggs thats why edward says if she knows how many eggs shes ate since they got there , she was already pregnant here ;)
