Similar, MR’s boards didn’t have the standard shortboard template his were wide up frontman’s always swallow tails. Still stoked to see them coming back 🤙🏼
@@matthewwillis4892 yes I know. Sorry I should’ve been more clear, when I was talking about Mark Richards board I was just simply saying his board was pretty much a true fish shape but had the nice standup fins like Kelly has now, And Kelly has more of a true Shortboard shape with the standup fins in a little trailer which works so fun in all kinds of surf. See you in the water brother
@@BobbyJetty1502 True fish shapes? The original fishes were shaped out of a longboard blank, very flat rocker, or broken longboard reshapes, with noses around 17 inches MR noses are around 13inches and contemporary s.b .noses are around 11 inches. Those are the numbers. Like I said these shapes have been around since the early 80s. I was there and shaped the boards. There isn't much new under the sun just old ideas brought to a new generation. Cheers !
I might try it! I really like two fiber glass side fins and then 1 air core thruster. Works amazing! I get it! I see why he likes it! I'll try his set!
Best tube rider I had was a twin designed by Bill Traub (Hawaii now) used to shape for Rick Harbor Surfboards Seal Beach. Bill and I surfed all over, I had like 6 of his boards in the quiver 80s
Glad to see Kelly experimenting with twins. However, here in San Diego especially Ocean Beach/Sunset Cliffs shapers like… George Gull,Joe Ghio(Plus one Surfboards) Larry Mabile(Third Word Exotic) LaJollas Tim Bessel Surfboards Hank Warner(Hot Buttered Surfboards) and of course Steve Lis. These shapers have been making boards like this one Kelly is showing us some since the 1970’s. Not standard Keel fin twins but much more MR wide base taller stiffer fins on short board templates. Just stoked to see a resurgence of these boards.
Geeeeeeet it KS11- KS-11!!!!!!! Thank you for staaayyyinggg relevaaant and not disappearinggg off the map and off the grid... Watching all the OG's RM, TK, MF. JP, BG, NF, SG, BI, SD, and plenty more still out there shreddinggg-rippinggg on various cool rippppaaa sticcckkkkas and having nothing more than pure fun is total legit entertainment, inspiration, and motivation to just stay in the water and have fun being active no matter a person's skill level and to know it's possible no matter what decade of life you're living!!!!! HAPPY SURFING FROM VB/VIRGINIA BEACH KS11-KS-11!!!!! ✌🌴 😎 🌴✌
I have a prototype of fins..developed for me, to create a low pressure (turbulence) leaving it looser in the turns and faster in straights these fins made me a lot of good times..too bad i stopped surfing
@@daninaylor5305 Awsome session. Love the set!! I had 2 to and semi glassy at NSB. The interchangeability for different scenarios was perfect and the speed really helps here on the East coast.
Gotta love Kelly, let's all make a deliberate effort in order to get to his age with so much enthusiasm and passion for what we do!!👋🏄💪 Thank you for inspiring us so much brotha!!🤝💛
I'd still rather surf like Kelly than basically any other surfer in the world. I also still think he looks faster that almost any other surfer with a few exceptions, and obviously on a twin + 1 he's even faster.
@@AageV 100%. Ethan Ewing has the talent to be a full-on legend when he's Kelly's age. He just has to keep his head on straight and stay amazing for another 30 years or so, haha.
@@hawaiiansouthshore You mean it comes with the option of two additional fins, one smaller, one larger,…. and you use whichever of either,… though only one at a time?
This is a variation on the Flat Earth by Akila Aipa that Kelly has been testing. If Akila and Kelly finalize the shape, we'll be get testing it in different material builds - Helium, I-Bolic, Etc..
@@firewiresurfboards what’s the chances of you sending me the variation to test in Australia 🙏❤️ if not put me down for a pre order!! Haha love your work guys much love 🤙
