My mum died suddenly at 54 and the police investigated it. They gave her an autopsy and discovered it was heart disease. She just had a huge heart attack in her sleep. @artsyfartsynerdywordy
@artsyfartsynerdywordy 6 месяцев назад
@@PaleTears-jj3nnsadly in most places this is true. Here where I live, all the doctors, cops, morticians, the coroner, firefighters and dentists all kind of know each other. If the coroner had been dealing with these officers for a long time they probably became friends of some sort, so he could have been easily swayed to alter autopsy results, or just outright refuse to do an autopsy. My boyfriend is a mortician and it takes a lot of hoops to jump through to get a body an autopsy. Normally though, if there are signs of foul play they don’t hesitate to do an autopsy, unless it’s obvious it was suicide. If the police don’t suspect foul play, they often won’t do an autopsy unless the family demands one, in which case they can’t say really say no, the family just has to pay for it and autopsies aren’t cheap, they usually run about $5,000. In this case though, since it’s obvious she was murdered, they may have even told the family that they ordered the autopsy but they might not have even told the coroner that they wanted one. My best guess is the cops told the family that they either wouldn’t order an autopsy since they knew the cause of death, that the results were inconclusive or that the coroner refused to do one, and the family maybe didn’t have the funds necessary to do a private autopsy.

When I worked at a hotel, I had checked in a bunch of state police officers. They were from all over the country and had some kind of convention going on. While there were several officers at my reception desk, one of them asked me (a 20 year old) to go out drinking when them. I told him I’m underage and the officer said, “It’s alright, you’ll be with us police officers, we’ll get you in.” Then 2 more were trying to get me to go as well. I said no though, because thankfully I was smart enough to not go out with a bunch of random men, being the only female. very true. This girl here is great! But I warn you All to please PAY ATTENTION to who you watch on here that covers true crime... there are very bad people that do it for clicks/ views and money only... they don't CARE about the cases and often spew incorrect facts and divide people with misinformation and often blame the family members and real people get so hurt! Some even travel to the crime sites to "investigate" or "search" but what they really do is get viewers to donate to fund their trips, gas ,hotel, food etc.. and they make money on that but do not help any case. They can also hurt the case and compromise any conviction because they can ruin evidence or expose suspects that the cops were watching and now they can run and hide or cover up stuff. If you have interest in a following case.. this here just telling the story is a great start, love her style... but for in depth... Search for channels by retired police or retired detectives and even lawyers out there cover the court end of the cases...you will be better informed. Dont fall victim to bad channels that try to solve the case with the chatters and have drama with other creates because they are there for making money off you... they will seem so caring and so giving with what they do... called "grifters" you "gift" them money thinking you are helping... they live off that money and do not care about these victims 😭😢🤬

But for most of us, we don’t know, we just heard it on the Internet, and with a YT algorithm that rewards fast production and more videos, not accuracy. I think this case is described correctly here, but many true crime and other case summaries here on YT aren’t fully accurate, and errors made in one summary just get transferred to all the others as videos use other videos for “sources.” So using allegedly is more for “innocent until proven guilty” and in case of errors by the presenter, not because the police have massive legal perks no one else has.

As someone who was r worded at a young age. I have to say it is so hard to know when something isn't right. When you are being groomed or when a sexual act is happening between you (the child) and the adult. It is hard because in a child eyes, adults are supposed to be someone you trust and are supposed to listen to. You wanna please them at some level. Especially when it's an authority figure. It sucks having to go through life thinking it was okay, but then the older you get and the more you learn about life, you start slowly thinking to yourself "huh... Well that happened to me..." Then you hear more things about how grooming happens. How assault happens. Then you learn about what the r word means. Then one day, it all clicks. Within seconds, you are hit with this throat tightening sickening feeling. Cause now your memories are altered and changed forever. Now you have words to go with the events that happened to you. And it sucks. It sucks so much. And then you are left with the decision whether to tell someone or not. But thats also hard because what if you tell someone? What if they don't believe you? What if they call you a liar? Or what if they beleive you? Well it happened so long ago, it's not like much can happen now. But what if you don't tell anyone? Well now you have to struggle with it alone. And then one day you are scrolling on the internet, you watch a true crime video and then you open up the comments. Then you read a comment that says that every victim should always come out and tell somebody or else they are making the wrong choice. And now you feel guilty! And then you feel shitty. And now it feels like it is your fault! It hurts to know these girls faced these problems. And will grow up to feel and think these thoughts. And will have lasting effects. Some people get hyper sexual as a coping mechanism. Some get depressed and want to end their lives. Some can't ever date or have intercourse. Some get c-ptsd, anxiety, PTSD and other things. And some get pregnant. And some will die whether from suicide or self abortion or giving birth. I hope justice is served. At least to one or all of the victims. Cause then, at least somebody can finally go to bed knowing their voice was truly heard and validated legal wise. I hope they get the justice I never got. This happens to a lot a lot ALOT of girls. You can guarantee 6/10 women have gone through exactly this and slowly came to the same sad realization. I was reading chicken soup and realized the things my uncle had done to me at 5 weren't a 'game.' Children are vulnerable and some adult are predators, and it's almost ALWAYS in the family because they have easy access toy ou. It's worse because there will or be family that doesn't believe you because it's too painful for them and they probably have their own unchecked childhood trauma. Talk about it online with others that experienced it. Also, try not to let 'shame' build up in you. Sex and sexuality is a confusing and ever evolving thing. You are never in the wrong for existing as an innocent child. Also NO not every victim needs to come out. Healing can be done without having to put yourself through scrutiny. Look out for young children, because this is rampant and happens all too often. And I promise you this will get easier to process as time passes. Imo, tell someone if you feel that other children or women could be getting harmed, then it is worth it. In my case, the assailant is passed. I tried telling some family and was ridiculed, bullied, even ENVYED. It was detrimental and terrible for me. So no, not always worth speaking up. What's worth it, is making sure you have a healthy relationship with yourself and with others. That's a lifelong journey.

Your poetic comment perfect brief encapsulation of what sooo many Young SA victims experience. My first SA was my first intimate experience at 17 the perp was a childhood friend (same age as me). I remember so many girls having crushes on teachers, celebs, cashiers etc. As an adult now it's my duty that it stays just a cringe memory and not a traumatic one where they got abused. Sadly as one of those girls, its very natural and was HIGHLY common for 13-15 year old girls at my school to be 'dating' and bragging about dating and sleeping with adults. It was so normalized to us no one bat an eyelid. We were new 'women', they were 'real men'. many of them went on to get married at 18 and are still married. So it's very hard to even speak about this to them. Especially where I live age of consent is 14 so who are you to tell a 'woman' that her husband groomed her simply for 'loving her' when she was young and perfect? It's a messed up world.

I had so many crushes on adults. My family did not teach me that it was wrong for adults to be with children (in fact, they taught me the opposite). luckily no adults I flirted with as a kid used this to their advantage. I wish an adult outside of my family explained that it wasn’t appropriate to have that kind of relationship with an adult, because maybe it would’ve opened up a conversation about what was going on at home. There are a lot of people in education that want to keep children from knowing that adults can prey on children, and I wish that wasn’t the case. Even though it’s completely normal for children to have crushes on adults, not all of those children have people at home to tell them about why those relationships shouldn’t happen.

I had a crush on my math teacher but I never acted on it. Even at 15 I knew it's inappropriate. I would sometimes tease him by joking about certain things he did and he'd trade back but that was just his personality and he never did/said anything inappropriate and conducted himself very professionally in the few instances we were alone. He didn't tease any students that didn't provoke him first either. I had another teacher who teased me and that I never reciprocated and even told him I was uncomfortable with it. He continued.. now THAT was horrible. Luckily I made sure never to be alone with him.

as someone who survived years of sexual abuse from a police officer, i know that a defense against these officers will be this “community hero” stance. my abuser was very involved in the community as well, and there seems to be a lot of similarities between the case of robert devine and him. especially the clip at the end, which is so chilling to watch, my abuser was also known to be “great with kids”. with his other victims, he often took the “older brother” stance, and also worked with children for almost 20 years. i’ve heard stories from other women and girls who were hurt by community leaders, and almost all of them follow the same patterns and behaviors of these officers. it’s honestly so eerie to see this happen in such a repetitive and systematic way.

hey Steph ! amazing video as always. i have a case from 2003 Poland of Jolanta K, and Andrzej K., which i think you should talk about. two girls in the town of Czerniejów were asked by their grandma to empty out a barrel of cabbage that she thought started to rot and stink. the girls start to empty it out, but instead of finding rotten cabbage they found 5 dead newborns. now, i suppose there are cases like this all around the world, but this one really stood out for me, because it started the debate of abortion and divorce in Poland. it turned out that the wife was r*ped by her husband repeatedly and she killed the babies out of fear, since they already had four children they had to take care of. at first, the husband tried to play it off, saying he didn’t know anything, but later on it became clear he knew more than he let on, most likely forcing her or killing the babies himself. he got 8 years in jail, over four years free now, while she got 25 and is still in jail to this day. this started a huge debate, that is happening until this very day. PiS, Law and Justice, was in power for the last 8 years, not only destroying our economy, but also making it hell for women’s rights (piekło kobiet is an actual term that the protests happened under) and for minorities, especially the LGBTQ. this case is just the tip of the iceberg that no one outside of Poland was ready to touch. so i’m hoping, Steph, you would be willing to cover this case and talk about what actually happened during PiS being in power. love! 🎉

Yeah, I used to be friends with a girl who had a police officer father and the first/only time I met him, he tried to physically intimidate and threaten us--a group of young teens-when we arrived to hang out with his daughter. Horrible vibes. About 2wks later, he shot her mom in the chest with a shotgun after she'd asked for a divorce (turns out she was having an affair with another local cop) and then killed himself. Miraculously, her mom lived. 40% of cops engage in DV behind closed doors, so: it's not surprising but it was horrifying.

@@RK-dc2eswhile dv is certainly not unknown in the cop world, God knows, 40% seems high. Where did that stat come from? The biggest problem with cop dv isn't necessarily the number of cops involved in it, I think. It's the extent to which the brotherhood can work to protect those who ARE involved in dv and stalking. That's a genuine danger, and we don't do enough to weed out from the cop-hiring process those who exhibit those tendencies.

They also try to control any posts online by the wives and what is spoken about even their own personal opinions. I’ve seen them literally look into posts that husbands were blocked from and send them to the husband and add to the abuse and mistreatment but they never go to the opposing side in the relationship. I always find it insane how people (mostly men) can get away with disgusting behavior like this for so long; it’s almost like ignoring problematic/predatory behavior is part of “bro code.” A lot of guys that I talk to either shrug or say “It’s none of my business.”or “we aren’t really friends” when I ask why they hang out or associate with shitty people. I truly can’t comprehend the INSURMOUNTABLE levels of apathy or lack of sympathy for another human being a person must have when they associate or ignore the actions of people who pretty much openly abuse others, and it’s surprising common. Really makes me lose faith in humanity. And I’m not saying ALL men, but it’s disturbing how common it seems to be, and the fact they comfortably let their buddies in on it should tell you everything you need to know. How can you possibly go around offering unless you had the boldness to talk about things like this before? That’s why a lot of people try to shut down disgusting jokes about rape, child exploitation, etc. When people tell these types of “jokes”, SOMETIMES they are limit testing to see how much they can get away with and who’s potentially on their side. Stuff like this doesn’t happen overnight, and it’s safer to just nip it in the bud; they aren’t always trying to be killjoys, and some people are survivors too.

Sandra doesn't sound like an emotionally naive/vulnerable individual, she sounds like an amazingly nice, open, honest person that would have been awesome to be friends with.

$5,000 per month? Wow! That’s more than teachers make upon retiring - and also dangerous work experiences. This is horrible. She was so needy, and all they did was take advantage of her.

Poor Sandra. All of her immediate female support died, leaving her fully vulnerable. I hope her remaining family gets justice for her, and I hope that, given there is a lawsuit *all* the redacted pages become discovery for the family!!! On a tangent that occurred to me when you read the Police Chief's statement, it has happened that information is withheld to help a *future* investigation. This avoids false witness statements, etc. That's just an aside (and admittedly, a hopeful one.)

The fact that she had sexual relationships with cops who knew her since she was 14-15 and still have sexual relationships then as an adult just proves that she was groomed, because why on earth would you want to have sexual relations with someone you knew and saw as a child?? It’s concerning to be attracted to someone like that. As someone who was groomed and sexually abused in my childhood, plus some other trauma, it’s easier for troubles children to be manipulated easily because they just want some sort of comfort(myself included) but even if a child or someone wasn’t or isn’t troubled doesn’t mean they can’t also be manipulated. It’s so terrifying how people who are PAID, and KNOWN to be the ones to protect us abuse their power over us to manipulate and harm us. It’s so sick and shows how our government and humanity has failed us.

Mmm show notes are a bit trashy and hard to follow where she found all the info. I half expect she will get plagiarism allegations at some point. I hope she is legit and the podcast format makes her less liable than a video essay format. But still, got a bad gut feeling.

Hello Steph! Kindly asking you to cover Tirone González-Canserbero's case please! He was a very famous Venezuelan rapper, widely loved around LATAM, and he was said to have killed his best friend and taken his own life after, but recently the case has come to light once again because his ex-manager who was also his best friend's wife has confessed after 9 years to have killed them both, but the case is just very strange and everything seems to have been handled weirdly specially since there's said to be 3 police officers involved in the murder. If you could cover this case it would be really appreciated! Thank you so much 💓

She said it with her own words. She may have come to believe that she was helping them release stress by having s3x with them. Gross abuse. May she RIP.

It's an actual tactic that works on women. "My wife doesn't give me enough s3x. She never give bj, I miss those - its been years." etc. A friend of mine was cheated on by her husband. He told his friends that she avoids s3x with him, been months as she read his text messages. Reality, she was having s3x with her husband almost daily.

I’ve seen hundreds of true crime cases and I was so astonished when I saw Matthew entering and exiting her apartment around the time of death combined with the fact that so many people stated they couldn’t believe she’d want to exit. Literally that would’ve been a smoking gun had he been a civilian. Wow.

No matter how you look at it, this is really gross. My niece is now 9 yet when I think of her she is always this little baby all bundled up. I went to buy cough meds for my "kid" brother and only at the checkout did I noticed I had picked up the pediatric version. My "kid" brother is 25. The idea that an adult would look at 13 & 14 years old in that way, doesn't matter if they waited till they were legal or not, is just gross. These people are dangerous and shouldn't be around children.

I havnt mentioned this before - but I THOUGHT it deserved mentioning... I am SO appreciative of your attention to detail in ALL your stories... the fact you even had a floor plan PHOTO of what the victims apartment looked like included when talking about when the officers opened the door. Lol its the little things like that ... that set you above everyone else. You tell a story like you were there ; you provide evidence/photos of things that help tell your stories perfectly and create a photo in the audiences mind. I really appreciate that about your content. And think it all really sets you apart when it comes to true crime videos.
