Twin-Engine 71 VW Squareback Type 3 Gasser Style - Just Two Cool 

Been a Fabricator 42 years and this is in the top notch category.

I've been a customizer for 40 years and this has got to be in the top 5 that ive seen in my years it is just plain cool brother beautiful

I'm extremely IMPRESSED Ron.. I finally got my project! Well one of 20 car's I would like to find.

To all the commenters who are perplexed by this engines sound, it's really quite simple. The two crankshafts have been phased by 90 degrees, meaning one crank is turned through another 90 degrees relative to the other before it is bolted to the flex plate joining them. The VW crankshafts cannot be phased in any other way with this set up to fire 8 separate times. Alternatively the engines can run as a simultaneous pair with the same cylinder in each engine firing together, which would sound no different to usual. So excited to see someone do this to a pair of siamesed four cylinder engines. This is the way all eight cylinder engines should sound !!!!

I met Ron this past April at the Buggorama here in Phoenix, and when I tell you, Ron is a great guy. I've never seen or heard of this car, and told him when I first saw it sitting, I passed it by thinking it was a V8 powered type 3. A buddy introduced me to him that day, and this guy is down to earth, and started this beast up for me, and a crowd gathered instantly, talk about awsome!

I love your Square-back Gasser I bought a brand new VW Fastback in 1969 and owned a Square-back latter on.

As an owner of over 20 VW's and being familiar with their sound, it is interesting that having TWO motors and EIGHT cylinders makes it sound like a V8.

Now that's class, a lovely looking car and the engineering is fantastic, hat's off to him.

That is just a beautiful car! There is so much going on yet it is clean and supper simple at the same time. That front clam shell and how it opens up is flawless!! I absolutely love builds like this and how the owner was the one that did basically everything on it. Amazing car my dude!!

Too cool indeed! I didn't hear anything about the timing of the two motors. It sounds more like a V8 than a VW so they are timed to balance out the power?
