What I like most about this combo is that both pieces are playable in isolation, usually combos in Standard are cards that you don't want to see in your hand until everything is set up.
Talent is, but vraska is kinda bad even when you have the possibility of combo. I was running 4 talent 4 vraska, but it's just too easy to counter since most decks are running a bunch of enchantment removal main and side boar so now i go 3 talent 2 vraska 0 lilianas. It's nice to do the thing, but it's very hard to make it happen all the time. You can win on t5 without doing any damage before, but you need to skip turn 2, on 3 you can do a 2 mana spell, on 4 you go lvl 3, op turn 4/5 they kill your talent. All of that in a format that has a bunch of very fast aggro decks.
As someone who hasn't played standard in about a decade, this was surprisingly interesting. I think what made it engaging was (1) knowing that the format matters to a future tournament (the spike in me cares), (2) hearing the commentary about the format and meta (learning with you), and (3) the fact that it was still mtgo and not arena so my brain could still process what's happening
I play a lot of standard on arena and very little of any eternal formats these days but always catch every bosynroll video, it's fun to watch one where I have more knowledge of a format than Brian for once.
I love it when you play Standard. Due to budget reason I only play standard on arena, really fun to see you pilot a deck I tend to play! I find it hard to come by explanatory gameplay video's and while your lecagy gameplay can translate a bit to standard, this helps so much more!
17:53 Choking Miasma here kills Bat which gets your removal back letting you kill Sheoldred. You're still probably not winning, but it gives you a chance that is above 0% 30:40 afaik this Azorius deck doesn't play many noncreatures, pretty much just Case, so I'd sideboard it out. Could be wrong though, I don't have much experience vs Azorius Convoke. Edit, nvm I'm immediately proven wrong by them being Jeskai and having Forge 39:05 Honestly I'd consider taking Rage here. It represents at least 5 damage and can't be dealt with later like any of the one-drops. Questing Druid is also an option since it's their card advantage engine, but I think that's just playing too slow to be valid 1:31:38 You did know about that Leyline Binding, they got it from Sunfalling your Bat
I know standard isn’t legacy or vintage but it is where people start. I enjoy the content. Also laughed way too hard at the slingdog gazillionaire and every other name of that card.
This deck, Caretaker's Talent control and the 5C Ramp are why my crime deck can't hit mythic. Rakdos has no answer to enchantments. I tried adding more blue but then I can only hope to counter them on the stack. Even that is difficult, though, because Temporary Lockdown, the Talents, Leyline Binding, etc., are all 1-3 mana. Plus, there's just so many good enchantments in the format right now
@OmneAurumNon I'm already in blue for Marchesa, which is the best card in the deck. It's base is Rakdos, though, since a lot of the new lizards commit crimes and a lot of the old crime cards are lizards.
You could try Into the Floodmaw to bounce a problematic enchantment for 1 mana, and it commits a crime. Sometimes that's enough to push though for the win, especially if they dumped 7 mana into the Talent, the tempo loss is enormous.
I like playing a couple of "Wrenn and Realmbreaker" as an additional combo with Inkeeper's Talent. It gives you a feeling of inevitability when you can repeatedly cast Liliana from the graveyard and ulti her multiple times a turn if needed. Essentially an emblem Yawgmoth's Will for permanent spells.
Bosh, I feel like you kept forgetting that Glissa can destroy enchanments in combat, something that could have interacted with all the leylines and up the beanstalks xD Anyway, well done! Hope to see more standard gameplay :))
This was the stock MTGGoldfish list, I think. A list that recently won the NRG tournament played more aggressively using the black Virtue, Preacher of the Schism, more removal, and some other more sleek card choices instead of Vraska and Talent. I personally like that version better, as I've never had luck getting the Vraska combo off before my opponent just kills me with combat damage
For round 2, personally I think that frillback is 100% worth bringing in as it's a body, gains 4, and is a disenchant. I also think Sheoldred is worth keeping in as she beats any creature in combat and gains 2 a turn which is basically unbeatable from a small-medium board
In which Vraska retires to Valley to run an inn, then poisons all the food. EDIT: Batting the Atraxa out of their hand is fantastic because it sounds like you're just reaching over and swatting it out of their grip.
Hey Bosh, (i know its brian) your last standard viswo was sooo good and this one was maybe even better, i hope you keep playing standard! Also as a standard player i cant tell you how annoying and powerful, inkeepers talent is. I was seriously hoping it would have got the ban, but you know wotc, they dont like messing with standard cards that just came out😂. Goodluck with your standard endeavors!
Love the standard video, great to see you exploring different formats and standard is in a really fun and interesting place right now. Also, please don’t board out liliana against domain. It had me face palming every time you did. Sticking liliana on 3 and plussing them into oblivion is probably the best plan you can hope for in the matchup, most of the time they will just fail to function.

standerd is jus so much easier to watch on mtgo i swear.
Is there a way to donate to so that Brian plays a specific decklist? Id love to see the sultain beanstalk or whatever version of that deck would be now that grief is gone
1:16:28 Wouldn't be better to take any of the other removals from their hand? Taking Get Lost out, attacking, see if they want to leyline any creature, then level up the talent. If they go to their turn and wrath the board, you untap, play Vraska and win
Because the cards are by themselves really good (Vraska saw play before the combo and Innkeeper's Talent probably would without the combo) and the opportunity cost is very low (every other card in the deck is just normal Golgari midrange). Plus, for some popular decks like Rakdos it's actually kinda difficult to interact with (they have no enchantment removal, and instant-speed planeswalker removal is not easy to come by either).
