I am so surprised when I watch people react to her and Arijit because they seemed to never have heard such intricate melodies. I grew up with their music so I am just so used to it that I only realise how special their voices are when I see reactions. You guys should listen to Arijit Singh. To be honest Indian Music is more complicated than rest of others. Indian music contains many raagas, elevations than English music scales. That's the reason they play with vocals

As a sign of respect, most Indians will stand up when a person who is near and older than them stands up or walks in. Being a talented and most famous person, even more than those elders, she still standing up shows her down to earth nature, insane respect and culture.

Those precise swift movements within notes are called harkats. It's an integral part of Indian Classical Music. It takes years and years of practice.

Actually what she said is . 5th level of basic pitch of an instrument . Classically trained Indian musicians actually has great control over their voice because the had been trained to keep the pitch precise . With an instrument . Like if in western do has just two to three frequency in classical music it's 5 to 7 . That is greater .

Hi..I am watching your reaction twice.i have watched so many videos reacting on Shreya....and they all tried to catch the turns of notes Shreya takes but nobody can do it.But the artist ...with long hair tried and he catch the notes very well.so....congrats.we are used to this type of singing since last 70 yrs as we have The Great Lata Mangeshkar and The Great Mohd Rafi sahab.

Beware of any kinda comparison between two things which are completely different from each other! First thing an Indian classical music is thousands of years older than Western music so it may be called as the mother of all. Secondly an Indian classical singer is like classical music instruments that has more variations in it's music but Western music is like guitar ups and downs but not so variations. So to become a pop singer it may take some weeks some months or years but to be an Indian classical singer you need to practice since your childhood to get control on your voice like raising voice so high then bring it down and then hold your voice for some time at the same level and same condition that's why a classical Indian singing is much harder and much different from the others.

Check out his duet with the Nightingale of India Lata Mangeshkar, 'Aapki Aankhon Mein', but if you liked Shreya please please listen to Lata Mangeshkar. She's in her 90s now and has been a playback singer since she was 13! My current favourite of the 25,000+ songs she has sung is 'Jyoti Kalash Chalke' in 1961. Effortless precision.
