@@md_randoms2429Hey the 400s and the 403s weren’t anything to write home about. When they dropped the 455HO in 74 I think it went down hill from there.
When I was 19 years old somehow I landed a job a Cadillac Pontiac and Buick dealer in 1970 .not knowing a hell of a lot I did all the jobs that none of the seasoned wrenches wanted to do like heater cores water pumps rear axle seals brake shoes coil springs clutch and pressure plates ... Then there was my favorite servicing brand new cars like 455 Grand sport Buick 4 speed Muncie with a Hurst shifter 455 GTO Hurst 4 on the floor buckets tac on the hood then here come the judge oh wow ... I'm only 19 toss me the keys , I'll be good .. I'll guarantee you there was at least 5,000 MI of Goodyear wide oval rubber missing off your rear tires by the time you got your car.. even at 2 door coupe DeVille 472 V8 was fast ... Did you know a Buick Opel GT the ones that look like a baby Corvette will do 125 mph after I got done tuning one on a sun machine ? If not well you do now don't you hehe . At 5:00 time to punch the clock. My little blonde hot rod gal waiting on me and Mel wilson begging me to work over and service this special order bird this guy paid cash for 6 months ago .. but Mel look what's standing there waiting for the same thing ! He said I know and trade you in a heart beat. But I promise this guy who paid me $14 gees for it .. I say WHAT ? There it was all by itself on top of an 18-wheeler car hauler with a big Pontiac dust cover... After the unwrapping and unloading I looked at the window sticker and the damn motor was $4700 option .. I've never seen anything like it before or ever again.. I don't know what it was all aluminum engine steel crank and rods double pumper 850 Holley setting on an aluminum hi rise 4-speed Rock crusher 12 bolt 411 posi weird looking ground effects 455 SD firebird trans Am 1971 .. this should have been against the new EPA laws but later was said only 300 were ever made.. did I floor board it , did I shit my pants in a blue cloud of wide oval tire smoke . Was I shaking so hard I started crying like a little baby .. snap out of it bitch we haven't even begun to horrify ourself this is a whole new ball game .. I calmed down enough to get out of town to my top end testing zone of my mandatory 1/4 mile test and stood it in sweat dripping off my forehead as I entered 4th tires still spinning .. OMFG take me home lord ... What was that ?
Years ago I had a trans am that looked just like that except for the hood. It was a turbo with a whopping 210 hp. Looked great but couldn’t get out of its own way.
A real car. Puts all those modern tin cans in the shade. Poetry in motion. You can just tell that beauty was champing at the bit to let rip! Marvelous. They don't make 'em like that anymore. Thank you for sharing & keeping these wonderful machines alive.❤🇬🇧🏴😍😍😍
I also have a 1995 Trans Am...6 speed with stroker LT1, that runs on LS7 coil packs, as I threw that useless optispark unit in the trash...it has the SLP headers and SLP all the way back, and 411's with locker unit....she is the burnout queen baby!
I had a Brown 1982 turbo Trans Am with T tops, a few days after I graduated from high school in 1992, my dad gave the car away, and he also gave away my 1971 camero that I had rebuilt in my sophomore and Junior years😢.
I had a 79 with the 301. Major slug but didnt care. I loved that car. I hated driving that oven in the summer since the ac was broken. At no speed did the cab cool down........
I had three of these in the 90's. You could get them for $500 in SoCal! I had a ws6 car with rear disc brakes. My father also had one when I was yonger. His had the Pontiac 400 engine and my 3 had the Olds 403 motor.
Agreed. I know they're supposed to perform better in all ways, but I just dont like the modern Cameros look. I cant look at one and not see a Transformer. And I cant look at the person driving and not think they are pretending to be a Transformer when they drive LMFAO
Love these trans Am when they first came out I remember when they first came out and I used to love the one that had baby blue rims and it was a baby blue color trans Am beautiful car with baby blue rims and baby blue color and baby blue interior. Came right out of the factory like that.
Man i remember when that model came out. A guy parents across town bought him one and he was way younger than me. They also had bought him a Black Kawasaki Gpz1000 Ninja.
“East bound and down loaded up and trucking We gonna do what they say can't be done We've got a long way to go and a short time to get there I'm east bound just watch ol' Bandit run”
One of the prettiest and slowest cars ever made! My uncle bought one off he showroom floor and it wouldn’t pull a hat off your head! It did ok at highway speed but 120mph it was pegged out! But with modern hp that a nice car! Bet it will fly.
