Much like Don Mattingly and David Wright, Joe Mauer was on his way to becoming an immortal player until the persistent and continuous injuries set in. The ceremony was excellent and well deserved.
@@jedidr4918 *Unfortunately I don't think any of them will ever get in. I give Mauer the best chance, because he played the most difficult position between the three. Mauer and Mattingly each had an MVP season, and Wright had the most All-star appearances (7 for Wright to 6 for Mattingly and Mauer). Unfortunately none of them won a championship, which doesn't help their causes. Beyond that, each player has a myriad of qualifying offensive and defensive awards and accolades. I agree they all belong in the Hall, but I just don't think it's going to happen for them.*
Buster Posey will be the next person to have this moment. As a Cubs fan, he is a true leader. I hope he stays with the Giants and he gets remembered too just like Mauer.
I remember seeing this Live and I was very emotional because I have always looked up to Joe Mauer and Joe Nathan and I have an autographed jersey from Joe Nathan. I got it at the Twinsfest.
Joe mauer is and was my favorite Minnesota Twins player since I was at least 7 years old plus i've played little leauge for 2 years aslo i was there at the retirement game for Joe's number and finally i would like to say i was born on the 7TH and year of 2007 Of november so i'm 14 now but it was a great day for joe ; ) (i took a picture with him and Dick Bremer aslo I was the one who brought a medal 2010 lunchbox with him and Justin morneau and most of all they both signed it , ... my dad was more excited then i was ) ... GREAT CAREER JOE
Congrats Joe Mauer you deserve it and Welcome to The World Charles Joseph Mauer and Joe Mauer is a Hall of Famer since Joe Mauer my Biggest Fan I ♡ u Joe Mauer
Really puts the hate in perspective. The dude was an absolute legend for the first half of his career. Injuries are a bitch, man. Concussions are killer in this sport.
A local legend that would be playing on Sundays had he chosen that route . Seen the man in High school playing QB ...........wow ! Anyway hometown hero it made sense to retire his number because no way would any other Twin would be allowed to wear it . The locals would go bat shit crazy .
But wait, Harmon Killebrew was a racist don't you remember from his anti-black comments in 1974. How come his number is amongst the best of Minnesota history when he so said such racial things. MN is better than this. Please don't look into anything I said or else you may be a racist as well
